- It's time for me to accept my fate... I must... create... TIER LIST.........okay maybe a bit dramatic. Really, I just thought this would be a really fun idea and I've been seeing other people do it, so I figured I'd put my take on the table of the best characters in Persona 3 Reload ranked from the worst to the best. If you all enjoy this video I can do this same thing for the other entries in the series!

Obviously the actual strongest character is Akinari Kamiki. Have you seen the amount of damage he deals to Persona 3 players?

The challenge from Persona games comes from knowledge more than anything. You can make anything work as long as you are knowledgeable about the enemies and other aspects of the game.

For real, Mitsuru has been carrying my merciless run along with Yukari, i honestly was kinda shocked she's so low on the list, but it's all understandable now, i might change her with either Akihiko or Koromaru for the fight with Ryoji
@@revolverocelot538 for me, in the OG game, mitsuru, koromaru, and....ken 😒 were my starting lineup, and koromaru carried, but in Reload, Mitsuru was my magic master, Yukari was my coin, healer or hitter, and my koromaru was basically built for crits and buffs and debuffs
The problem is that these characters lower on the list are consistently less versatile most of the time and the only reason for them to be used is affection and the desire to make them usable,I have been using Mitsuru since she became available as a party member, by the time she became available I already had a jack frost capable of dealing more damage than her, but I like her, right now I have a Satan doing more than 2K damage with a single Diamond Dust or Black Viper + concentrate, She can't even consistently deal half that damage with her Theurgy
Junpei is so busted. How does no one talk about how junpei is a literal CANNON who can just knock down anything in a pinch. He's so good like I never see anyone say this

The issue with junpei is that he only gets good at late-end game. Everyone else has more to offer throughout the game.

My biggest issue with Koro is that he doesn't learn Debilitate until at 77 when you're either close to finishing the game or you've grinded to the point that you really don't need it.
Or you just killed the reaper and got him 40 levels above the enemies
Great vid! I used Yukari, Junpei, and Koromaru and just spammed Yukari and Koro’s second theurgies. The dmg output was ridiculous
A bit unrelated, but just wanted to say that I find it funny how Junpei when invested and with the right set up, CAN do more MAGIC damage than MITSURU with his second Theurgy and can ONE SHOT the Reaper (which just so happens to be the STRONGEST magic Theurgy). Akihiko could do the same with one shotting the Reaper, but I just find it hilarious how Junpei, known for being THE crit demon is also the strongest mage. If only they made Mitsuru's second Theurgy also Ice.

at a certain point you are so OP it doesn't matter.
once you beat the reaper once, you can beat him again,and now your at a high enough level to get helel and satan to use armagdon.
which will one shot almost any boss but nyx(cuz of the multi HP bars)and the secret boss,and the secret boss is a puzzle fight.
so at the point where minimaxing matter it is no longer an issue.
so if you just want to pick your fav character,go for it, it won't matter that much.
then again big number go brrrrrrrrrrrrr.
it's fun to minimax to see uber dmg builds.

@@kichiroumitsurugi4363 My Junpei has passive Slash Boost, Amp and Apt Pupil and is equipped with that sword. I dont use Nandaka Bracer but I am using Critical Enhancer for critical boost in exchange. I am pretty sure Junpei with all the buffs could easily surpass Aigis but my Minato is fucking broken right now, I dont think level 99 Junpei can go beyond him anymore at this point.
Shoutout for having Aki at A+. That boy does not play when it comes to damage. I heard so many people complain about how he got nerfed, but dude almost one-shot Nyx's final phase during my first playthrough and I was below level 80 on hard mode. He did the same on Merciless too (but I was level 99 with better equipment, so idk how fair it is to judge that). He is completely broken, especially when paired with Yukari. I will gladly lose out on debuffing for that amount of damage 😅
The nerfs to him were in his versatility. He used to be a mini mc. So some people overreacted and didn’t actually test the buffs to his raw damage output they gave him in exchange.

Canonically Fuuka can probably keep up in battle even though she is not fight based, but many of Oracle's effects can be pretty broken on battle, plus her stats just show that if protected by Juno, she can quite literally take if not more hits than what could be Aigis Junpei or even Mitsuru
She would def not be as broken as Rise in terms of fighting, but she could preobably keep up on battle
I'm guessing Mitsuru's 2nd theurgy is Almighty because if it was Ice, then there would actually be no point in using her first theurgy. Maybe if one of her theurgies were AoE they could both be Ice based.
I rarely watch gaming tier lists, but I have to say, you NAILED this tier list haha.
By the end of the game I tried out a bunch of party members after I got them all to lvl 99 - and what was my final party?

Ok for Mitsuru, she is amazing against reaper. You debil and concentrate with her and bam large damage and stopping it from going past neutral. But you just gotta run the ice skills and the ailment freeze combo with ice boost and such it works really well with diamond dust and really good freeze chance.
I should add, just in case anyone is confused, Akihiko’s theurgy charge doesn’t require him to use Auto Buffs or Buff himself, it charges if he has a Buff at the start of his turn. So no need to pop Masukukaja every turn to charge theurgy
The fact that Junpei isnt top 3 is a CRIME. My guy is BUSTED late game, legit crits almost every attack he does and bros thuergy literally heals him up after spamming his moves.

In the late game you can just "Armageddon" anything, mid game Siegfried will probably do more damage than he ever will, There isn't much reason to worry about how strong he can be when other characters are already strong from the start where a consistently good party is needed.
I ran Koro, Yukari and Akihiko on the Reaper once and the guy got one shot by Revolution + Power Howling + Electric Onslaught
To show the how big the gap of physical and magical damage is, doing no MC runs in Nyx with a phys party (Akihiko, Junpei, Koromaru) with no healer and no buffer is twice as fast as running a full magic party (Mitsuru, Ken, Yukari).
The noticable weaknesses for the magic party is they need theurgy to deal with Nyx's resist and null magic phase. Phys party has the option of both Akihiko and Koromaru to deal with null phys phase.
For Yukari to be helpful at all she needs to not attack to try and build theurgy. Ken is surprisingly very useful. He has access to a light boost weapon so his damage is not bad even with a null weakness accessory. He can keep Heat Riser active on himself and Mitsuru, and he can block weakness for Mitsuru on phases where Nyx will spam fire. Divine Punishment does pretty okay damage and Divine Intervention is there if anything goes really bad.
You could replace Yukari or Ken with Akihiko and that party would probably do a lot better. I would have to try it but my bet is the weak link is Yukari. But if you replace Yukari why would you not just replace Mitsuru with Junpei?
The only real advantage I see is that they do critical hits which can one shot but base physical damage and magic damage alone were doing around the same for me and everyone is at the same level as each other. Mitsuru Diamond dust was one shotting Nyx phases with around the same amount damage as Junpei with a brave blade, again these are not critical hits.
@@ShadowOfMassDestruction Mitsuru does not one shot a majority of the Nyx phases without concentrate at least on merciless. I have no idea about hard or normal. This automatically means she'll kill twice as slow as pretty much all the phys attackers. Junpei's final weapon gives him Apt Pupil so with that plus his passive plus Koromaru's revolution, he will crit most of the time. With crit Brave Blade he can one shot every phase except the null phys and resist phys phase and the final phase. Without charge, Junpei's theurgy does 50% of the final phase. With charge he one shots that too.
And your magic calculation is simply not correct. Akihiko gets access to Elec Amp and Elec Boost. And he has a 1.3x modifier from Buff Amp which is higher than Mitsuru's 1.25x modifier from Magic Mastery. So just from math Akihiko does more damage than Mitsuru in magic. With phys on non-crit on a per turn basis 2x God Hand > 1x Concentrate + Diamond Dust. Junpei's modifier is also 1.2x, but crit does so much more damage that the 0.05 extra modifier Mitsuru has doesn't matter. On top of that he has a physical theurgy which if it crits and it usually does, there's nothing Mitsuru can compete with for that. And that's also outside of Junpei just having shift boost which is an additional free modifier.

@@ShadowOfMassDestruction The last thing Mitsuru should do is spend her theurgy gauge on her second theurgy. If you don't have Koromaru for some reason, you're better of using Rakunda or an item and using her 1st theurgy next turn.

😁nice video, when it comes to me and my team I dont pick based on having a broken team, but a team I enjoy using so for me my team was ageis, mitsuru, and yukari, and that was it, I used shinji and aki, but after getting the others I never switch lol

I mean like even playing P5R, I never had a persona completely built for amps or something like that, I just don't know how to do it. Any tips would be appreciated!
Thank you for the support! You can use tools like fusion calculators online to theory craft Persona builds. You can find a Persona that has the skills you want and reverse fuse until you get what you want. It's a pretty long and drawn out process, but it's well worth it just to make some hilariously overpowered builds. You can also use skill cards and stuff like that to make the process a bit easier
Mitsuru can be really strong since she has a access to ice amp, a weapon with magic boost and a accessory with ice boost getting the max damage boost possible, using it together with Yukari for concentrate on her Theurgy and Koromaru for debilitate, she can give a tone of damage with diamond dust

Great analysis. I may have been greatly undervaluing Koromaru in my own playthrough, possibly because he can run out of SP very quickly.
While end game is a fine point of reference, as you would necessarily need one, it's also generally not very applicable. Not only because level 99 makes any fight (excluding Elizabeth) a non issue for any lineup, but also because it's a long RPG with different variables throughout the game. To be more applicable, you would probably need like a per month tier list which is a lot more work. Plus the varying amount of situations can make each party member more useful. I would absolutely pick Ken over Yukari for a handful of fights for his second theurgy alone.
But for the scope of the video, super good. :)
I think many members depend on the overall party composition, but i found your reasonings to be fairly interesting. Tbh i kinda agree on a few points like with Mitsuru, although not everything

My team on the first playthrough was Yukari, Aigis, Koromaru, but after that I used Yukari, Akihiko, Koromaru

I think that I'll be using Junpei, Ken, and Koromaru. That team sounds fun to use.
A build advice for you, would be to get rid of samarecarm for yukari and ken, later down the game you can just buys full revives unlike in fes, so it’s honestly a waste of a skill slot and it’s the same with the party members that get access to healing (like diarahan), leave the healing to a healer, cause I’d rather have a 200 hp item that heals the full party instead of a wasted slot. last thing get rid of virus breath on koro, he either supports or magic attacks, almighty is useless for him.
I probably should have mentioned this in the video but I personally don’t like to use items I find it a lot more fun to just rely on the party members themselves. I only mainly used it if I wanted to cure an ailment real quick or raise the party stats for something like this video. As for the virus breath thing on Koro maybe so, but I just kinda felt like keeping it tbh there wasn’t any major reason besides the fact I can use it vs Gold Shadows.

there have been some scenarios mainly in that last arcana fight where only almighty can pierce through a boss, having virus breath for just the mid-late is fine, after that you can give it up

I find virus breath on Koro very convenient up until Harabah blocks. Virus breath can one shot or at least give substantial amount of damage to most mobs prior to Harabah mobs.

I agree with many of these points, the Mitsuru thing is so true sadly. The fall off for her in late game is detrimental, and from the moment I started playing around with crit compared to magic I seen Phys value over Magic. I first played the game on Merciless, so I feel its easier to see the difference in the effectiveness of the Phys characters vs Mitsuru. I also agree with the Fuuka joke lmfao, recovering party SP on its own makes her the best here.
I personally ran mitsuru for concentrate,icebreak and her debuff theurgy, koromaru for delibitate and charge theurgy, yukari for heals and her concentrate theurgy. My mc basically just goes for heat riser or charge/concentrate himself up for nuking alongside with mitsuru.

Here’s something recently discovered.
Sukukaja affects multi-hit skills and helps make more hits happen. This makes them more powerful on average than expected (like Junpeis Blade of Fury outdoing Akihikos Gigantic Fist).
But more importantly it means Sukukaja is finally a decent Buff now)
When they were designing Marduk they genuinely gave him everything
I built Mitsuru around her ice affinity.
Tbh I even removed Concentration for ALL my personas during fusion, so how can it be the basis of resource management when it's our personal choice of which skill to keep for our party at higher levels?
I also made her an Ice mage. With Ice break, Bufydine, Mabufydine, Diamond Dust and Ice amp. I also put Neuro slash, Marakunda and ailment boost. She dealt high amounts of Ice damage and was great in every situation.
imagine if koromaru said "get your personas ready folks, this ain't gonna last long!"

About Junpei and Aigis
Me personally, I feel that synergy and support matters more than damage due to mc having highest dmg potential by far. This would mean that I personally think that junpei is the worst in the game due to having nonexistent support moves other than marakukaja which aigis has. And, in using junpei, you’re basically forced to use koromaru unless you want to waste mc turns using revolution or rebellion. Aigis has matarukaja and marakukaja, dekunda (which when paired with Ken’s dekaja, you basically control the entire fight and Ken can constantly heal aigis due to her only using physical attacks) and aigis can heal even tho some don’t run diarahan on her.
About mitsuru
I personally think she’s one of the better characters in the game. As I said before, I’m someone who does value synergy and support over damage because mc can cover damage, but mitsuru can literally do all of it. Damage output is insane, she can debuff defense which is super valuable and her second theurgy gives debilitate. Ik her characteristic suggests that she plays around with ailments, but as someone whose almost done with my first p3 playthrough and who kept her in the team the whole game, I can’t remember one time I actually used ailments with her when I can just debuff, do damage, concentrate or use items. And if you wanted to use ailments with her, she works great with all physical users, especially junpei and akihiko because akihiko also has a debuff which lowers attack. This provides damage reduction and damage increase as the same time, and that’s not even including yukari who can just masukunda which akihiko can masukukaja which allows you to output a ton of damage while being hard to hit and when you are hit, you’re taking less damage. I like using this “aoe debilitate” because a lot of gatekeeper floors especially have more than one enemy, which makes debilitate less efficient (which isn’t even including how late koro gets it). Mitsuru can quite literally work with anyone which for someone like me, is very valuable. It’s also why I view how people rate mitsuru very unfair because her entire kit, while putting some emphasis on status ailments, it’s not like she only relies on them and offers absolutely nothing else (quite the opposite)
About Ken (and technically aigis)
I think Ken’s characteristic is not as bad as people think because his moves cost so much sp and since his support is so good that ur not even using his second theurgy much, it doesn’t even matter about his first theurgy because the damage isn’t very good. As I said before, Ken and aigis can literally control any fight due to their supportive capabilities and great synergy with each other to the point where any other character (minus junpei) can fight with this duo. Want Ken to only support and not heal while still doing decent magic damage? Use yukari. Want aigis to do more damage? Use mitsuru or koromaru. Want even better survivability with great damage? Use akihiko. You can use anyone with this core which leads me to my final point.
About team cores
I feel as thought every character (except mitsuru because she can literally fit anywhere) has one specific character that they pair with better than anyone else
Yukari + akihiko: great survival with masukunda, masukukaja, matarunda, and yukari’s busted healing on top of her second theurgy.
Aigis and ken: I did already mention it but ken can heal after Aigis uses a ton of physical attacks while they both can control the fight with dekunda and dekaja
Junpei and koromaru: this one is the most obvious, charge from koro second theurgy, debilitate, revolution and junpei getting more value off of hitting crits
Mitsuru + any: defense down is always good, great damage on her own, if ur gonna use ailments she greatly helps physical teams, etc. here im just explaining what she brings to the table because almost every other character (except junpei because aigis would rather use marakukaja over him who’s just doing damage) benefits her in some way.

Freeze counts as an aliment. Which late game she can always do other then that fair points
Yeah same here, like why would i want tor rely on other members for damage when mc does a shit load of damage, maybe to speed things up a bit yeah, but i'd rather have mitsuru do all the setup for me. With freeze boost + ailment boost combo, I can reliably setup for mc to charge + phys skill/ phys theurgy.
I personally put everyone in S tier. All of them are good imo. But for me, its the MC, Shinji, then Yukari, then Junpei, then Koromaru, then Akihiko, then everyone else. 👍
Yukari is broken and I love it. I did find myself empathizing with her the most and having the ability to bring the party to full HP with just 11 SP, being a crit monster with enemies under a status ailment, can nullify all part ailments with low cost SP, and Wind Magic being great against enemies weak to it perfection.
I always have her in my party unless I need to grind to love up personas solo or need to level up a bunch of party members.
Junpei was my favorite because when i played the game he got so many damn crits on minibosses and bosses that didnt have any weaknesses. Those free All-Out Attacks felt like a gift from heaven lol
For Shinji (when he’s available)
Unless its some reward for saving people or like that I don’t see any Aoe Auto Skills that are obtainable via level at that point. They likely have to be from Skill Mutation
Auto Mataru is obtained by Atavaka at level 75 (fusible at 72)
Auto Maraku is obtained by Hecatoncheires at level 53 (fusible level 47) (this is the one you might have by the time Shinji leaves)
Auto Masuku is obtained by Siegfried at level 55 (fusible at 54)
Its very possible to have it by Skill mutation but i feel like thats not as strong as a point against him.
at that point of the game id say having auto Riser is pretty good.
Aigis is likely to only get Marakukaja while Shinji is in and i dont see anyone else who’d have aoe Buffs at that point (they seem to get it right after he would’ve left)
I want to say more about other characters so ill get to that when i wake up.
Ehh screw it ill talk about Ken and Yukari before sleep
Ken does more damage than Yukari just straight up
Ken innately joins with Kougoan (37), a Heavy Bless Skill so what right? Well it has a higher base power than Garudyne a Skill which Yukari learns at level 50 (the base power of 350 to 220). But he gets access to Gae Bolg relatively quickly a +25% boost to Bless. And i think its starting to become a bit clear. And the only period where Yukari actually outdamages him is when She has access to Wind Amp Accessories while Ken is waiting for his. As you overlevel the damage disparity decreases and at level 99 the damage difference is basically Ken is Yukari with Single Target Boost.
Im not done yet
He also has a significantly better Theurgy Charge conditions at his fastest he can get Theurgy every other turn. And he can actually keep this loop up by spamming Support Skills skills then Theurgy. This basically means at worst hes only spending about 2 Sp to use 2 samrecarm, Mediarahan and Full Party Shields.
I believe Yukari at her Fastest is only three turns but she doesn’t have a clean loop and Tranquility is hurt by the fact that only Akihiko and Mitsuru make good use out of Theurgy (even then Akihiko only wants it for Theurgy otherwise hes spamming Phys).
(Koros strongest skill is Getsui not even he wants it)
The only thing Yukari outdoes him in is ailment cures and that’s extremely easy to cover with items. Yukari is also slower than most of the party so its not really like she would act in time to save the party from ailment shenanigans.
Kens also just generally better with Physical teams than Yukari which is generally accepted as the meta of the game.
Okay i did NOT elaborate on how he gets Theurgy that quickly
Basically all of these boost Theurgy Charge (and if i recall its when you face against a Boss)
Having Charge or Concentrate (and not spending it)
If at least 1 Enemy has a Debuff
The Whole Party has a Buff of some kind
Under Half Sp (which isn’t an issue because you can use Hp equipment to get Kens Sp low)
Also this was taking into account Soul Fortunes 1.3x Therugy Boost.
This gives Ken like 44.2% Theurgy at the Start of his Turn and casting a Support Skill fills like 19.5% of Meter (which generally would be some kind of Karn skill)
(Under same conditions Yukari gets 26% at the start of Turn and gets 26% for healing)
Mitsuru's characteristic with Phys Hero, Junpei and Aegis makes it so if you ambush an enemy and give them confuse you are guaranteed to hit a crit every time.
It reminds me when playing the portabel version,having Akihiko as debuffer,Yukari as Healer,and Aigis sorta support/HP user for skills

the top tiers was my whole team. Crit dog, Fist of Death, Healing Wind and the Wild card. nyx was a cakewalk to me.
criteria is definitely important, this list seems pretty weighted towards the back half of the game
i tend to weight the early and midgame just as much as the late game, and i also assume little to no grinding which is VERY different to the context of this list
everyone will talk about grinded level 99 characters vs nyx but level 20 characters vs hierophant, level 40 characters vs strength & fortune, etc... are arguably way more important. eliminating grinding also means limited crafting materials and suddenly good gear becomes much more contested
thing that works without grinding always works, thing that works with grinding only works with grinding is my logic
so with that being said here are some thoughts
mitsuru i think is unironically great. there are so many fights in the game where just casting rakunda is doing more than yukari or junpeis entire kit is. she also gets a tier 2 skill early so she keeps up in damage for a bit. once you start getting good physical skills, offensively shes completely outclassed but i cant overstate how good a defense debuff is when resources are limited. i hate her but i begrudgingly used her for almost the entire game for a mandatory encounters only run.
ken for me is entirely an argument of availability vs divine intervention. divine intervention is the single best move in the game, full stop. no matter the context of the run you pop divine intervention you won the fight ggs. double reflectors trivialize every single encounter in the game. the problem is hes the last (non shinjiro) character to join and hes ass until he gets divine intervention, which comes very late.
junpei i think went from getting underrated by most people to getting overrated. hes not bad. his early game is great, and his late game is bonkers but he takes so much effort to get there. his characteristic is insane but its not fully reliable on its own. basically he wants a lot of craftable gear which is a contested resource other characters don't really need, and it takes him a LONG time to learn good physical skills.
aigis also takes a lot of effort to output good damage, and her late game is not all that impressive. but her support tools are great so you dont really need to put any effort in her for her to just cast buffs on people. i think she is very good.
akihiko is bonkers i think hes top 1. not even just late game. he gets his element boost relatively early. tarunda is really good. he gets his boost weapon wayyyy earlier than everyone else. if you can live without strike amp he literally needs 0 craftable items. earlygame someone needs to take a turn to cast tarukaja on him and his second theurgy is kind of ass, but other than that hes nuts
yukari i think is actually not very good. her early game is abysmal (she actually gets 1 shot by ravens if you dont buy her equipment and this trend continues for a while). her support is kind of whatever. all she does is heal. this is replicable by items. in boss fights tarunda + single target heals is doing more than yukari healing. group concentrate is nutso but it comes super late and is still worse than divine intervention and group charge. ken is a straight upgrade to her in every way (once he finally joins anyway). shes not BAD but she just takes a ton of effort.
i wonder how long koromaru will be overrated by everyone...
he joins late, has terrible stats, his gauge requirement is awful, and debilitate comes at level 77. there is no guarantee party members will actually hit level 77 before nyx, only the protagonist is guaranteed to hit that level. even if they do its SO late that its basically a non-factor.
group charge is nuts and he gets it right away but the gauge requirement is so so bad that you dont get it every fight unless you are explicitly grinding random encounters so he has it.
also his damage is comically bad once you start looking at his stats/the resources you have in context to every major story fight instead of just at the very end of the game
that being said i think hes pretty good. revolution is fantastic and group charge, when you can get it, is fantastic. like yukari tho he kind of just takes a lot of effort to be good outside of his theurgy.

If you're REALLY up for it you can incense Junpei's luck to 99 and that has allowed me to crit 90% of the time (even on nyx but the lack of 1 more sucks)

So imo I can't place junpei high in my list since he is a bit too dependent on critical hit (unless as mentioned here, u raise his luck to 99).
Otherwise mitsuru is a better choice since 1&2 She can debuff enemy defense and buid up theurgy at the same time. 3. She can suck up SP (the only member with such default ability?). These make her pretty useful in middle stage of the game.

Junpei even without constant Crits is the Strongest Party member as his Multihits are incredibly powerful.
seriously when he gets Torrent Shot hes not just stronger but significantly stronger than anyone and continues to be with Blade of Fury (stronger Torrent Shot) until Aki gets Strike Amp Gloves. Aki only outdoes him for like 10 levels.
Another Crit Thing with Apt Pupil Sword + Max Characteristics his Brave Blade is like 70% Crit against an Equal Luck opponent. Before this point you can just Koro to aid as hes an incredibly strong support. Revolution is nuts, Getsu-ei is only 8% weaker than Brave Blade and Crits count for his Theurgy which his second one is the best Support (not to mention the fact he has the 2nd highest Hp for some reason)
Misturus Sp Regain isn’t good and Ken does it better and passively also her Theurgy gains are bad she’s absolutely not faster than Junpei in charging it.
hell Junpei has the stronger Magic Theurgy and he doesn’t even want to use it (his can 1 hit Ko Reaper while Misturu just cant)
I never expected to see Koromaru as the best party member without counting the protagonist, Revolution is really good, but is dangerous as well because it increases the crit rate of the enemies as well, but I'm so happy to see my queen Yukari as the second best party member.❤❤❤
A lot of enemies use magic so them getting crit isn’t as big a downside as it initially seems. It’s still risky for sure but it’s not as much of a boon to them as it is to you. Especially since koromaru will have the enemy accuracy gutted. Can’t crit what you can’t hit.

I think the only big part of the breakdown you missed is their final weapons. Because they all have unique abilities attached to it, it plays a big role in how strong a character is. Personally I think Aigis' puts her above Junpei.
I think this game did a great job balancing the party. Ive seen people say Akihiko is the best no doubt, some say its the worst, some people say Koromaru is bad, some say its broken, and its honestly interesting.
Personally, i played with Mitsuru/Koromaru/Junpei, just because with the protagonists ambush you can almost always get at least one enemy with an ailment, use Koromaru's agility to almost always crit, tag onto either junpei or the protag, and i always ended tartarus battles in one turn and with almost no SP cost. Mitsuru is a real liability on boss fights tho.
I am still semi new to this series (only beaten 3 P games) so, i dont know much. My end team was sanada, yukari and Mitsuru. I agreed with most this list though.
reload tier lists are so funny. "okay yeah at the bottom you have shinjiro. he's broken beyond belief but you bench him later for. reasons." and then *every* single placement afterward everyone is like "now i know people will disagree, BUT"

I sometimes swap out Junpei for Koromaru every once in a while. Because Delibate is fun and I love one shotin’ with Aigis’s therugy and or Use of my Cendrillion/ Thanatos builds.
characters aside, astarte's one shot kill is busted if you put apt pupil, pierce amp, pierce boost, single target boost, auto rebellion card on her. she's my favorite to fight bosses since i'm still pissed to this day that atlus doesn't include my boy yoshitsune to the compendium.
This was a great list and high quality vid, even if I don’t agree with a lot of it. The main thing I disagree with though is Ken and Yukari. I’ve just never seen the Yukari hype, Tranquility is great but that’s kinda all she has and magic (other than some Theurgies) is really underpowered and some party members literally cannot benefit from Concentrate. Her healing is cheap yes but in effectiveness it’s no better than Ken’s, and Ken benefits from the high cost. Ailment restore is kinda useless since you can buy the items so easily as well. The main problem I have with Yukari especially when comparing to Ken is offensive momentum; Yukari can heal but she can’t really prevent damage in the first place without a lucky Sukunda dodge, whereas Ken can prevent damage and more importantly knockdowns in the first place allowing you to play more offensively and recklessly. My experience with Yukari on merciless was basically having to rely on her and recuperate every turn which really cuts into turns. Ken is just broken especially with his second theurgy. Ken can do more outside of just healing on his free turns without theurgy too unlike Yukari (and invested his Kougaon does more than Garudyne since light and dark are stronger if you care about that, Garudyne really kinda sucks as a best regular damage option). Yukari also straight up has horrible synergy with Junpei and especially Aigis so she can’t slot onto every team effectively.
Ken especially on merciless is amazing and he’s straight up busted for a low level reaper fight. Plus his SP restore (which stacks with invigorate skills if you want) and multi-element access is great for Tartarus runs. The SP restore helps more than hurts since he can stay below half SP comfortably and throw out his broken theurgy every few turns without having to worry too much about running out of SP.
I think a lot of people overrated Yukari because they see her characteristic, say “wow she must be the best healer” and basically never look back. Using her means you basically have to rely on her healing and makes her look great since she appears to be carrying the team health wise.
My personal ranking from bottom to top would probably be Mitsuru, Yukari, Junpei, Koromaru, Aigis, Akihiko then Ken for the main party members.
4:25 I think you are missing the point of the charistic here. It doesn't just apply to her. It applys to everyone. So having her in the party with Junpie or aigis means they are receiving another buff to their crit rate. And while I agree its pointless for full moon fights. It makes travelig and grinding Tartarus way easier, especially when you have the ambush ability and can inflicte distress to at least every enemy. You can then abuse the party level catch up system to get the boss fight party members ready. So in that aspect she's really great at her role
It's one of the reasons I used it during my Merciless run, this extra critical chance makes a difference, I didn't use it for Aigis or Junpei, but because I like critical builds
If you completely ignore ailments on Mitsuru (they're useless anyways) you can instead give her spirit drain and leave mabufudyne there to help her resource management

Aigis is the best mainly because of how she changes late game. She gets additional dialogue and her theurgy animation is so crisp and I love it
Misturu was always my strongest. Boosted her freeze rate with items and weapons and I almost hit a freeze every turn.

Thank you! It’s still important to note that the list is still my opinion but I do think my reasonings are sounds, but a lot of it will come down to personal preference since the character strength is close.

Koromaru and Yukari are such a silly combo
Yukari can add concentrate to Koromaru's Dark Theurgy
Koromaru can Revolution and Charge eveeyone else
Koromaru can Slash, Dark, Almighty, and Fire, Yukari can Wind and Pierce
Mix Debilitate and the insane healing (I sadly capped all of Koromaru's stats before noticing the busted buffs on his weapon, but it still has Ali Dance), and it genuinely is a skill issue if you cannot at least do something every turn with them
Grab Akihiko to add Massive Damage and Strike and Electric Coverage
Or add Ken for Light and Electric Coverage
And you basically have all but two damage types covered with Ice and either Strike or Light being the types the protag can cover.
I ran Ken, Koromaru, and Yukari in my party nonstop the moment each of them joined, and the power showed. That and when I ran a high crit phys damage persona with a superboosted magic persona in another slot, YuKoro Theurgies usually just translated to doublenuking a target
Revolution seemed to benefit the enemies more than my party most of the time. I was thinking the move was good, but it wasn't. I still wasn't getting any critical hits.

Honestly Mitsuru was great to me, ice boosting damage equiment were the easiest one to access at least in my playthrough, same for nullify fire, so she was extremely reliable
with her ice boosting equipement the damages on her theurgy and ultimate ice skills are huge and she has access to the very convenient defense down skills, which pairs well with my use of aigis for attack buff on the party.
The ailment gameplay is a bit wasted on bosses, buuuut some ailment still work on floor bosses who can be annoying, and spamming ailment on normal combat allows her to fill her theurjy very fast between combats.
not to mention her second theurjy that sure, gets overshadowed by Konoamaru once he gets debilitate, buuuut when you want to destroy a boss very fats being able to both cause huge damages AND debilitate on a single character turn is very convenient
To me the break skills like ice break are useless because why would I waste a turn nullifying an enemies resistance to a certain element when I could just use something else I guess you could make an argument for enemies that null everything but

Only to miss out on so much potential damage I could have been doing. I'd favor consistency which is why I'd choose Aigis over him.

Barring some placement I disagree with, definitely really good arguments here. I honestly haven’t even considered how busted Koro really is in this game, or how pointless Mitsuru’s second theurgy being almighty was.
The only placement I could really disagree with is Ken. He’s definitely not stellar, but utility as a tool box I feel is a bit underrated. I feel like he’s a perfect for the last spot on a team, since you can essentially build him in any way you want to fill a role. However there is definitely a valid argument in just using the character that already fills that role, but there are definitely some cases where he could be a better pick. Say you want to have a team with Aigis and koro, and are looking for a healer. Yukari is immediately the first pick, but then you run into the issue of her and Aigis both having an elec weakness. Ken wouldn’t have that issue, plus he can provide more coverage to the example team.
All probably circumstantial, but wanted to put my 2 cents in, Great ranking 👍

Every party member is good at their specific job. An excellent when they are in certain teams an having their personalities maxed out. Like Koro, Mitsuru,Junpei,MC with the right equipment every attack Junpei an Mitsuru do are crits
The only member who has 0 use or Role is Ken
Ken has the fastest Theurgy (well 2nd to Shinji) and pretty much Outclasses Yukari as a Healer/Support while doing all other less important aspects better.
@@helpihavebats6392 Yukaris Personality makes her a better healer all around an Kens theurgy doesn't start building fast until you have been in Tarturus for enough battles to drain his SP. When Everyone else you can easily grind theurgys with proper baton passing and skipping all our attacks. An from my experience Junpei,Mitsuru,or Koromaru have faster Theurgys. Not to mention You don't need Makarakarn or Tetrakarn at all in the game an When Ken Gets Mediarahan Yukari gets it shortly after. An I never even used Kens 2nd theurgy it was so situational an what's the likelihood Ken is the last teammate alive.
@@defianthound407 Kens Characteristics very much let him keep up with Yukari in healing (16-10=6Sp Mediarama to Yukaris 4Sp).
And Ken gets his second Theurgy in October that he can spam for Mediarahan way before Yukari could get Mediarahan by level so no he doesn’t just get it shortly before her.
you can set Sp low before any battle because he has a healing skill. All it takes is a little bit of menuing with an Hp Equipment.(Yukaris also benefits from being below Half Sp like Ken for Theurgy Boosts though she doesn’t get quite as much and Healing Apex is makes doing this a slog).
Its not an personal experience it’s actually a fact Ken gets his Theurgy the quickest (as soon as every 3 Turns in Full Moon or at the start of his 2nd in Tartarus with Soul Fortune). So you know this is a full party Phy/Magic Karn + Full Party Heal + 2 Revives.
With how quick Kens Theurgy charges hes the Theurgy Spammer of the group he doesn’t need to save it for emergencies. Actively holding on to it is not letting Ken do what he does Best.
Not only that Karns and Dekaja are way better than Yukaris really bad Sakunda.
Whats Yukaris supposed to do against an Charged enemy? Instakills? Ailments? Aoe Buffs? Kens Karns/Dekaja provide Protection against all these.
And outside being a support he does more damage and has more Hp/End than Yukari. (Kougoans 350 power to Garudynes 220 plus Gae Bolg means Ken doesn’t have to sacrifice an Accessory to get a Boost)
Fuuka's actually busted this time. Party wide SP/HP recovery OR charge/concentrate, maraku and masuku before big fights, distress for all enemies in the floor, weakness analysis, never gets hit

Fuuka can take damage, very small amount, yet after 150+ hours I still have no idea what causes it. It may have to do with when a party member is knocked down.

Like the other commenter said it's probably her leveling up. When she levels up her max HP and SP raise, but her HP and SP values remain the same, so it can look like she's taken damage.

Also, I swear that I healed her after she leveled up, went to do more battles, and used a full heal on the party without her leveling up again and she had 2 HP restored. This could be confirmation bias on my part. Plus, I always have Yukari in the party healing that I could never confirm this if this is what is happening.
That would make things more difficult that has a chance to talk X damage when a party member is hit with a weakness or knocked down that could be dubbed as "Telepathic Backlash Damage". Not sure how unfair that would be, though.

mitsuru's personality buffs the whole party's crit chance btw
But she doesn't benefit from crit and the party that you'd want to run her in also doesn't benefit from crit. That means her best role is phys support, but she's got to compete with Koromaru who has full party Charge.
Best party for Mitsuru is probably Yukari and Akihiko. Akihiko and phys MC will benefit from the crit but Yukari won't, so it's a bit inefficient.
If you run Junpei, it's even worse because Junpei only wants Koromaru. Phys MC also wants Koromaru. So you can ditch Yukari for Koromaru but actual answer is ditch both Mitsuru and Yukari for a phys party. At least Ken is still useful to phys parties because he can block weakness for both Junpei and Akihiko.
But phys party is always some combo of Junpei, Aigis, Akihiko, and Koromaru.
With how P3R is designed, I feel like you can run a party with pretty much anyone and you'll still break the game. Just about everyone got a major buff compared to how they were designed in base P3/FES and P3P that I personally find it hard to objectively rank the cast due to how well they fit their individual roles in combat.
The two thing I'll agree with in this video though is that Yukari is basically a must have if you want to run the most broken party combos in the game and I also agree that Akihiko is massively slept on by the player base just because he no longer serves his original role as the primary enemy debuffer like in the original three versions of P3. Thank God that Atlus buffed Koromaru the most out of the cast in P3R because he was essentially worthless in the original versions (as much as it pains me to say because I absolutely love that dog).
My original party setup in P3P was Yukari, Aki, and Aigis and I was thinking about using that combo again in P3R, but given some of the new buffs the party got I might switch things around and replace certain party members. Some of the party combos that look the most interesting to me right now are Yukari/Aki/Koromaru, Yukari/Junpei/Koromaru, and Junpei/Aki/Koromaru. As much as I like Mitsuru and Ken, nothing strikes me as super interesting despite the buffs they received and I'm a little reserved on Aigis compared to how useful she was as a party buffer in the original versions of P3. I guess I'll just have to experiment before I come up with my own definitive team (it's a real shame that you can't swap out party members mid battle like in P5)
Junpei is an S for me because hes got Chidori and I invested thousands into buying minerals at the club to trade in for Luck and strength incense so he could have max strength and luck at the middle of the game
I also gave him a sword that greatly increases crit chance and an accessory that gives rebellion at the start of a match

As a speedrunner, I really can't give an opinion on this video. I don't play the game casually. I understand why Akihiko and Aigis are at the top. However I never used Junpie past the 2nd full moon mission. I never used him since Siegfred destroys EVERYTHING, and the few that he can't hurt, a Magic persona can. The enemies will be lucky enough to get a single turn in. Maybe one day I'll do a Party members only run and we'll see who's on top.
Junpei hit hard (hardest) And can reach big Crit Rates. Synergizes way better with Koro than Aki/Aigis.
Koro is pretty much the Best Phys Support in a heavily Phys focused game that the Mc will always want.

I agree with most of the list, i just have to move Kuromaru right above Mitsuru. The main issue i have with him is that he is SP hungry without a balance like Ken. Ken also should be right below Yukari because of his high utility and a balance for his SP hungry nature. Light/Dark and Heat Riser/Debilitate are really SP hungry and revolution raises crit on everyone. I've been hit with enough stray crits (sorry Mitsuru) to know that any buff to the foe is detrimental. Since teams usually have a support, a healer, and a main DPS (unless you are going full DPS or safety mode), something like heat riser is still extremely useful... Especially if your DPS is Akihiko. I value debilitate more, but heat riser is still extremely useful if used correctly. Most characters have a support move, even Junpei can bolster the entire teams defense. Attack makes big number, but defense lets you do more.
Overall, the list doesn't change too much, just switching a few things around
YOU RATED YUKARI RESOURCE NEAR inexhaustible when grinding. THIS IS WHY I MENTIONED SP DRAIN. Makoto and Mitsuru have INFINITE SP.
