I've been playing spark lately, and the caster mastery for opening chests works on strongboxes, so it actually lets me pre-fire the area around the boxes, then the monsters spawn into the sparks and instantly die, while I'm on the other side of the screen. very handy tech
A few things having done this strat for a few weeks myself. Get the cartography strongbox atlas passives to greatly increase your odds of getting a t17 duped drop. 1 div per t17. I use one ambush scarab, one discernment, one hidden compartments and one containment. The containment usually means I'm pushing 45-50 total strongboxes per map. Each of those gets a 31% chance to be opened twice. I've had some that i open 7-9 times. On average, I get about 25 extra opens, waaay better than the extra 5 you get from an extra normal ambush scarab. The discernment scarab also increases the reliquary, cartography, and gemcutter boxes. All of these can drop good items. Though the containment scarab is expensive, you more than earn that back combining it with the other two. I've dropped duped mirrors, hinekoras, valdos, 7 years bad luck, and tons of high value gems and uniques. Also, don't discount the value of common bubblegum currency. They drop in stacks of like 20-30, and it's always super easy to sell bulk currency. And they don't take up a giant amount of inventory space.
Please hidden compartments is the optimal scarab. Combined with the atlas tree you have 31% chance to open a strongbox. Again, and again. Because of the fact that you can open it again and again and it's 31% chance it is way better than 1 more ambush scarab.
@@PathofEvening I've done a little digging into the math for recurring probabilities but haven't found a solid formula yet so i'm not saying you're wrong. But don't discount the "monsters revive" mod on strongboxes and how that interacts with reopens. I've gotten 5-6 reopens in a row on them and cleared 2-3 maps worth of mobs.
DDDUUUDDDEEEEE your a life saver!!! just started doing this setup and made more currency in my first map than I have all season. dropped 2 valdos puzzle boxes. this is only my 2nd league and really been struggling with currency. only had 800 chaos up till now. Cheers for this it has made my Day!!
what ppl often forget on the hidden compratment scarab is that its not capped to open again once. i dont really know the math sadly but its more than 15% more strongboxes
Boxes are great fun with a caster when you can spare the mastery to open them automatically on a map like Crimson Temple or Defiled Cathedral that's all straight and narrow pathways I farmed my MB and Awakened Spell Echo in Harvest, which was a miserable experience towards the end with how rippy Crop Rotation can be and the dry spells it gives you, but playing this strat after that one is a breath of fresh air. Definitely helps when you got yourself a build that can ignore all the bad map mods and altar downsides and take all the quant all the time
Cartography strong boxes are worth it I think. double any t17 you get from them, favouriting popular maps to bulk sell, plus you very often get vaal temple maps which are worth a fair bit.
I've run this about 20 times and, unlike your essence strat, I'm getting tons of orbs of regret but not hitting the consistent currency drops I was hoping for. Gonna have to watch this in detail again because I had high hopes when I switched to this. I do love the essence farm though.
Good thing about it also is it's hard to drop the value of items you're farming if a lot do it as they're all liquid currency or cards tied to currency
Cartographer Strongbox is good coz the Tier 16 they drop has a chance to be converted to Tier 17 so IF the conversion happens, you get TWO tier 17 maps
This is insane. The amount of exalts, Cs and div cards I got is disgusting. And the fact that I don't have to use my squishy MF gear is a giant plus. Also it's cheap. Thank you for this. It's fun. Much appreciated.
Hello,if i want a specific div cards from strongboxes, for example Brothers gift or the apothecary,i should run this strat on those specific maps that has those cards? Or all the cards from strongbox are random?
Ones inside the strongboxes are random, but ones from the tons and tons and tons of mobs that the strongboxes spawn will be the ones from that map. So yes, but not a hard yes.
So I’ve been specifically looking for maps with the new corrupted implicit “unique monsters drop corrupted items”. Then just filling the map with rogues and strong boxes , I sold a pair of dual curse snakebites for 24 div which was , idk if that’s cheap or not but it sold in a day and I have a +1 to socketed gems incandescent heart so I only had a few maps laying around with that Vaal implicit in them but I think it’s worth doing a bit more of a deep dive on as I did also get a really junk rare +1 power charge corrupted helmet which maybe on league start would have sold but ya lol probably not this late in a league 😅
You can, but you're generally going to get more value out of adding more Strongboxes & juicing the interaction with the Lantern/Allflames. Potency is really good if you're using Containment Scarabs to force 40+ Strongboxes into each map.
Just recently found your channel and have been loving all your vids! How is regular TR PF for this strat? I have a sparkmage that is good for the farms but is a little slow even with a HH and am almost done leveling my TR. TR is so fast but ran mine is a little squishy so idk if a properly leveled one would be good for this.
Thanks! TR PF handles this strategy really well. It zooms through maps as usual, and most of the monsters in Strongboxes aren't very dangerous, so it cuts right through them!
I just love how this strat synergizes with the lantern. I got 122 div in a map doing this thanks to cuz of lantern chance to convert to div + eater chance to duplicate currency Only thing I’d mention is sometimes on reopening boxes it seems like there are more and more mobs. So i wonder if that changes the math between 3rd ambush scarab and reopen chance scarab
Maybe a dumb question, I may unlock it eventually on my own. Why do you have 4 slots for scarabs? I only have 3, I have 4 slots but the map takes up one.
@@PathofEvening Thanks that's probably beyond me this league, but something to aim for next. I enjoy my lightning arrow build a LOT but it's just a bit to squishy for t17s.

It's not less mods, it's less effect, and the only benefit of the Haunted mods is that they spawn more corpses. They're also more dangerous. The risk and reward don't line up very well!
@@PathofEvening ah; so I was taking more haunted to juice divinity for the next maps specifically; didn’t think about the added mob difficulty. With the price of 20% additional item corpses I was seeing two an hour (about 6~div) more even if you’re selling matching type sets for all 5 add item and don’t trade them immediately.
I`ve ran close to 50 maps of the expensive ambush strat and man I`ve been getting unlucky even was running t17s for a little and still was getting nothing good at all, think I barely broke even..

ive done about 200 lockbox maps and they are not reliable at all. you need to get big ticket items. but it is a good farm for alts and lower tier curency. if you like low invest gamba then go for it. i got the i see brother card and seven years of bad luck. about 59 maps inbetween those drops.
I may be missing something but aren't you forgetting to include the allflames you're using in your map cost? That seems pretty significant and would change your ROI quite a bit.
What would you recommend for non-mf farming strat? I'm currently running t6 essence farming for 15-20d/h. Newbie and been doing it for a while now. It gets boring for me lol.
Less Recovery Rate of Life/ES, Reduced Flask Charges, and Chance to Avoid Poisons are all build-disabling for Forbidden Rite Pathfinder. -#% Max Res and Reduced Effect of Auras are doable, but annoying. Everything else is fine. The same mostly goes for Toxic Rain Pathfinder, except it doesn't care about Chance to Avoid Poisons at all.
They've come down recently as the market is more flush with them. Yes, it is currently better. 5 extra strongboxes vs. (on average) 20-30 extra strongboxes is objectively better. Gotta spend money to make money.
I wonder how much these "super cheap" farms are actually of value, who is looking for them. I find that its much more likely for someone to not want to trade for scarabs than for them to not want to spend more than 4c on scarabs per map. Or more clearly - I cant possibly imagine that the playerbase who simultaneously is fine with purchasing scarabs but on the other hand is unwilling to spend more than 4c per map on them cant be very large. If you are willing to purchase scarabs at all you are probably fine with spending a bit more to pursue the highest possible returns. If you arent willing to purchase scarabs then you are most likely to be the playerbase that is looking for cheaper farms but even at 4c are not likely to buy scarabs. I feel like content creators tend to forget that GGG is a smart company. They explicitly say they keep trading inconvenient for the purpose of putting up barriers that discourage players from excessively trading, and then content creators go "That doesnt work, I still trade and this just makes it crappier" without considering the fact that many people DO infact choose to trade less explicitly because of how tedious trading is in this game. If the current PITA trading didnt work and not a single person ever chose not to trade because of it GGG would have made trading simpler long ago because it would actually not be serving their purpose.
