I read entire original novel year ago and it was soo good
ORV is one of the big Korean stories out there. Solo Leveling got hyped on the net for its art, but the big stories are ORV, Overgeared, Second Coming of Gluttony, Regressor’s Instruction Manual, and Second Life Ranker.
The big ones from China are Legendary Mechanic, Taming Master, and Legendary Moonlight Sculptor.

The actual reason people think dokja is ugly is because of the fourth wall too. People who actually knew him can just see his face clearly and eventually people who get close enough or cause the fourth wall to fail see his face too
It's not the fourth wall. That was just a theory that got so popular that people missed the actual reason. The thing about the fourth wall was never existent in the novel even if you look through it. While the actual reason was written near at the end of the novel. It was mentioned briefly but by then fourth wall theory already got so popular so people missed/ignored it.

@@casagrande__2526 no it's not. Even if you skim the whole novel, fourth wall censoring is not written or even hinted there. While the actual reason, that is the author tls123, having a fit and taking it out on dokja is actually written in the novel. Some readers even jokingly called tls123 of being petty and the poor fourth wall being blamed.

@@casagrande__2526 i honestly can't blame if people don't recall it coz it's just mentioned briefly. It was just a gag of tls123 being mad and decided to be petty against dokja so the reveal was just mentioned briefly and there's really no deeper meaning behind the censoring. And by that point(nearing the end of the novel) people already tunnel visioned on the fourth wall. And some even stopped reading before the reveal coz it was on the second epilogue(first epilogue is a good enough ending and many liked it too so they stopped there). So even fewer people actually seen the reveal, plus tunnel vision on fourth wall... so ¯\(°_o)/¯
ive been keeping up with the webtoon and it really is good for all the reasons gigguk mentioned. a lot of people i know who read the original webnovel has come away saying it was an absolutely unforgettable read. theres just been nothing but great things to say honestly.
I really want to read the light novel so i am just waiting for it to get a physical copy
There's just a different feeling when it comes to reading the light novel version of a story about a light novel and its reader. There were some moments I had to put my phone down and just go "woah" because some of the end game stuff was hitting too deep in the feelings. Can't wait to see how it'll be adapted in the manhwa.

At first I genuinely thought this series also had BL, because there is so much fanart of two of the guys together and I was disappointed to find, that no, they do not kiss, ever. They aren't even gay. I plan to read it, but haven't yet. 😂😂😂

There is a running joke throughout the series that they are together and things are always getting misunderstood😂😂

Gigguk doesn't know yet, but there's an in universe good reason why people think mc looks ugly. The adaptation has hinted to it already and brought it to attention, but since it hasn't been properly explained Gigguk forgot about it...
ORV is amazing.... Kim Dokja is... such a great character. I love him
He is considered ugly because they can't see his features clearly (4th wall maybe?). In a reunion with the constallations, when they can see him, other people wonder why is he called the "Ugly king"

Ahhh well, it's not really "revealed" in the manhwa yet, and he didn't read the novel so I'm not surprised, even though it is implied and could be deduced 😂😂 Tbh, I only realized it later on while reading the novel as well
I read the whole web novel and it's really good. It's my favorite novel of all time. I highly recommend it.

ORV is legit one of the very few good things to come out of Korea, and it's god damned amazing.
So just a harmless spoiler, the reason why everybody thinks his ugly is because of the fourth wall, if Gigguk's explanation was lacking, his fourth wall ability exists because he is a reader, and as he explained, it protects him from even the most powerful mental attacks in the story, and is even making him immune to pain, but seem to be affected only when it involves his past, that's because technically he's experiencing all these events like reading them, so it's like everything in then novel is fiction, while he is in reality, that's why he's not much affected by pain or mental attacks because his ability allows him to treat it as something fictional, thus why the characters in the novel says he's ugly, is because he's a reader, and they are the content, it's like the concept of dimensions, you as a 3d being can see 2d properly, like texts or art, but 2d beings can't see the higher dimensional beings that are reading through books, which is why Dokja looks distorted or ugly
I've read the novel. It is probably the most epic piece of fiction ever created. It's been 3 years since I finished it and I'm still obsessed with how amazing it was.
I really wish they'd release the official English translation of the novels so I can throw my money at it!!
