Just because something is bad does not mean it's not fun. One of the shows I laughed the most watching was English dubbed Hajimete no Gal. It's so shit but so funny!

@@neonblade4699 I would agree if it wasn't a bit niche type of humor. The problem is that for anyone who doesn't find the situational jokes funny it will be just a trashy isekai, there really is no way around it. The series HEAVILY depends on it.

i wouldnt call it a bad isekai tbh, its genuinely the most fun isekai ive had in a long time since reincarnated as a slime. cid is so overpowered that no one can defeat him even if they artificially make themselves stronger. cid is really just trying to live up his fantasy IN a fantasy world meanwhile everyone else is taking him seriously.

I love the parody of the "antagonist takes all the power boosting pills at once" trope when the guy in the dungeon does it so sloppily only 2 of the pills go in his mouth, 2 fall on the ground, and 1 doesn't even leave the bottle... 😂

This is like one of those anime you watch after watching something with heavy plot. You can just enjoy the show and it will be a fun time.

Fun fact: the anime aired in October 2022 along with the biggest anime like bleach, chainsawman etc.. etc. but even the eminence has biggest competitors, still manage to become one of the popular anime.
Now it has it's own Game , Sold 4million Copies of Series, and most importantly announced it's 2nd season 🔥.
I'm try to be unbiased as possible but NGL, animation kinda banger. So does the music. Even though gigguk said this is harem anime, literally this is not a harem show, MC didn't even care bout the girl not because he oblivious main character or anything but he really doesn't care lol he really just want to roleplay as the eminent of shadow (DIEOFCRINGE)
I honestly recommend it genuinely. That line about Cid not losing his virginity because he never loses is quite accurate. He does not give a flying F about scoring with any of the girls who are head over heels for him. That's how deep he is in his power fantasy and NPC roleplay. Which I like because it's refreshing. Doesn't gush over them and never gets flustered. Which is also why it's entertaining watching these girls fall for a guy like him. Viewers gush over the girls, the MC doesn't much care.
It's the typical isekai power fantasy on paper. I can almost never get through 1 episode of most Isekai's unless it's well-executed. But this one had me looking forward to each week. I don't know. It's tropey but it just works.
Eminence isn't bad though, Roshi never even gave it a shot, he polled it when only 4 episodes were out and it was against Black Lagoon, so ofcourse it lost lol.
Eminence is like the 6th most pirated show in '22, world wide.

This show is goated. Before the anime came out it novel readers already put this gem on the top tier list of must read. Its basically mocking the characters in fantasy/isekai genre and making you realize how cringe those lines are if someone role plays them
Ehhhhh it's more of "hey I have a bucket list of corny lines I wanna say that would be in my power fantasy" type of ordeal and because he knows its just power fantasy the MC takes it to a new level by rehearsing everything he says even going as far as to do the same motion for hours on end to get the result he likes. He's very delusional but at a certain point he just can't tell reality from his fantasy anymore which makes the show work. He doesn't necessarily ignore the plot he just thinks it's his delusions because to him the lie he made when he was 10 years old is far too improbable to be true than the girls he told the lie to making it come real in a fantasy type play set to nearby crimes
This isekai revives the old fantasies kids used to have.
Like "a secret organization secretly in control of the government", and the "secretly being better than everyone else". My favorite is *the school is attacked by terrorist.*
The author was pretty new to writing since it was his first series, but in later arcs listened to audience feedback and eventually grew, making each new arc better than the last. It's literally has the most hype and disrespectful moments in isekai I've ever seen, like an old shounen that you never see anymore in newer shounen. Not that "ah cool" type of hype and disrespect, the "LET'S GOOO!!!" type.
The setting is generic on purpose, the author's original description of the girl characters were "you get it- she's gorgeous.", then just said "I give up" after a while. Without the LN illustrations, people who've read the web novel literally didn't know what some of the girls looked like, it was hilarious! He knows we don't care about stuff we aren't going to remember, so he just gives us what we want raw, and it works.
Sadly he didn't update the WN(he Said he wanted to focused on LN and Anime),the WN is different route after oriana kingdom arc
Honestly, I get where people are coming from when they say Eminence is a bad anime, but it's actually just a genuinely good show. I'm not saying it's legendary or anything, but it's definitely not bad. The animation is actually really good (little to no cgi surprisingly, good soundtrack, great voice acting, the world building is good, it's paced well, the characters actually have decent characterization and the writing is self aware, but not to the point where it comes off as over doing it. At it's core, it's a parody, but that doesn't stop the author, Daisuke Aizawa, from actually giving a shit about the surrounding and overarching story. Cid's bullshitery is combined really well with the actual story being told. Plus, at the end of the day, if you enjoy it, even ironically, is it eve n "bad" at that point? With how popular it is right now it must be doing something right.

@@OtakuCouple if you do, I hope you'll like it. Honestly, I'm the kind of person that can't stand when people say "it's so bad it's good". At that point just say it's good, you know? Personally, when I rate a piece of media, my first thought isn't "was it paced well" or "was it animated well" or even "is it good". My first thought is, did I enjoy it on a personal level. Sure everything else is something I always appreciate and can help with my enjoyment, but one does not equal another in my opinion. I can enjoy bad anime just as well as I can be bored to death with an anime, but still acknowledge its a good show. I don't know why, when, or how, it all started, but lately everyone seems to share the mindset of analyzing every little thing about media and constantly ranking and comparing shit without stopping to just have fun. Of course, despite this, I still hate the "turn your brain off" media, because it devalues the hard, in my opinion. I just think the internet can do with a better balance of analyzing and just enjoying works of art. Of course, if you're enjoyment is analyzation then there's nothing wrong with that either

My favorite thing about Cid is that he actually makes the other characters around him more interesting. Best of all its intentional. Its all in good fun and it really is fun. Its isekai batman with the 4th wall breaks of deadpool. It works so well that stops being a parody and just becomes self aware and it just don't care.

I have been watching anime for 15 years in that time I have seen probably around 500+ anime and this is legitimately one of the most enjoyable shows I have seen in all that time. I put it up there with Overlord and Re:Zero for my favourite isekai of all time. I would recommend it to anyone that has seen a few isekai because some the enjoyment really depends on understanding of the troupes.
Tbh, I don't think you need to be familiar with the troupes to be able to enjoy it. Eminence was the first anime that I actually liked and what actually made me like anime and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
It's not bad. It just makes fun of these troupes by integrating them all into one story. People just call it bad for lack of better words to call it
I genuinely don't get why people call this bad. Dumb, sure, but not bad. I had a blast watching it, probably one of my favorites of 2022. Absolutely check it out up to episode 5 or so, then decide if you want to continue. Episode 20 is an absolute banger

I was invested in this show from the start
its actually a very good anime. It beats alot of the so called "popular anime" across all Japanese streaming platforms and became the no.1 show not because its trashy, but because its genuinely interesting. It is praised by many to be one of the best anime adaption of the novel. But hey, if you dont like it at first glance, then you do you man.
I didn't think much of it either at first glance. Especially facing the tough competition in winter last year with Chainsaw Man etc. But after I got into it I absolutely loved it!
To me this isn't bad isekai cause there are a LOT of trash isekai. This isekai is just DIFFERENT! IT EMBRACES THE MEMES AND CRINGE AND ITS COOL AND AWESOME
Honestly for me this might be my favorite isekai, I know there’s more brilliant and Beautiful shows but just how this one isn’t apologetic for what it is.
So huhuhu, so i read manga before anime was announcer XD and i was crying and laughing every Jesus Christ chapter!!!
I genuinely like the show he’s not focused on romance or growing a harem like other Isekai protagonist and Is just 100% focused on his own want to be a shadow and background character even though it’s not really working out for him he doesn’t change his ways
I would highly recommend it. It's an acquired taste , but it's dense with many different styles/ things to like .
And very interesting world building and additional lore

My friends and I agreed on a way to understand the feeling of this show. Imagine a Diagram graph, like a pie chart, Now put on the top as Cool, right is Fanservice, down is Cringe, left us Annoyance... now instead of a Pie from the pie chart, start drawing a spiral expanding out from the center in a full circle pattern, wrap it around a couple of times, you can start in any direction... after like 20 circle lines of the spiral are made... there is Eminence In Shadow.
This is definitely a comically hilarious show. I got into the manga a while back and fell in love with the ridiculous nature of the main character completely bullshitting, yet still being right about everything he says, never realizing how correct he is. It’s a really fun power trip.
This is one of those shows that i totally love, even if whole world hates it. It's very funny and enjoying.

The guy who made the video has no idea what is going on. Either he is just mad that this show overshadowed his sponsored chainsaw man. It's arguably one of the best isekai ever. And the pacing of the show is just perfect. The music and animation are also perfect and comedy is subjective. What's funny to most of the British and Australians is not even understandable to most US population. But that doesn't mean its not funny.
Probably because hes an absolute clown with idiotic takes. I wouldnt be surprised if he didnt even watch the show considering he only put out a video on it after the show blew up in popularity and well after the season finale. Also weeks and months prior to his video a bunch of smaller content creators made videos saying EXACTLY the same thing.
Did we watch the same video ? Gigguk did not mean Bad as in "bad". Its just, its not for everyone. He actually loved it.

11:50 Tbh, many, many reacters and fans of anime, have called Eminence their new #1 anime. Being an isekai, and being edgelordy as hell, doesn’t disqualify it from being a high quality anime. The animation is amazing, the comedy is 100% styled right, and the plot is extremely enticing.

the whole concept of the show and the plot was so amusing yet appealing I am waiting for season 2 even this show felt refreshing because after watching about 300 anime
the concepts were getting too bland and I was so hyped to find an anime that I could stick with that actually made me stick to it I liked this show
The manga and the anime are surprisingly pretty different since the anime adapt the ln and manga i guess adapt the ln as well but changes things here and there
Eminence in Shadow is just alotta fun. Some great amazing sht you can relax and watch with your brain turned off and be entertained.
The protag is literally living every edgy teenager's dream. Other chuunis only wish they had as much committment to their made up fantasies as this guy does. He goes all in.
Hope you guys do give this one a chance. Its spectacularly epic in its self aware stupidity.
As long as you don't take it seriously it is a great show to watch and one of the enjoyable isekai of this season.

Fun Fact: Focus on the plot and imagine Cid's personality as "serious" instead of "chuunibyu" and you got yourself a dark fantasy story that's actually well-written
I did not like the first episode when I watched it, but I decided to give it a few episodes. After a few episodes, I expected my interest to peter out, but instead it just kept getting more fun to watch as the season went on.
And trust me it's not Harem, Cid is a true sigma grindset guy he doesn't care if anyone die even her own sister, trust me you'd be mind blown.
It’s actually just a good anime I wouldn’t call it bad at all. It might be my favorite Isekai and the first anime I ever watched was konosuba so that says something. The cringe is what makes it funny and enjoyable and even when it is it is simultaneously badass. It’s definitely a fun watch
I almost dropped this show when the atomic scene happened. Glad I didn't, as this was the most entertaining thing I have watched in a while.

Gigguk's comparison to OPM is very accurate. Saitama and Cid, character-wise, are basically the same. Both protag is very OP, are aware of it, cares little on what plot or story happens around them, stays true to what they want to do, and everybody else is forced dance on their tune without themselves realizing.

Watched Anime. Read the Novel and Manga. Opinion, it was fun. Some scenes in Manga was better. Others, the Anime made it more Entertaining. The Novel is details but not everything. The Game App is just grinding for months just to Attempt to see the finer details outside of the other 3 media forms. But still very entertaining. Only the first time through.
The problem i have with anime reviewers in general is pretty much their dislike of certain genres. Regardless if it's a good story or not. Plus many of them don't read the source material. Which would help to show what is cut or changed in the anime adaptation of the source. Which if they saw what gets cut, it would typicially solve a lot of issues involving story. And they typically do well in japan. Which is the main market for any anime. So if the source material does well in japan, it's going to get an anime. Regardless of how people feel in the west. I could be like some reviewers and say all shounen are trash. Without actually checking them out. But i don't do that, because i have fairly unbias opinion on most stories of animes in general. (The only shounens i still follow are black clover and one piece at this point in time.) Also i will advise it's best to go and read the source material of any anime. Especially genres like isekai's and harems. Because if i listened to reviews in general in the past. I would have missed out on a lot of stories i would have liked and do still like.

This is the best way to do things. We follow this rule, along with just going in with low expectations and then absolutely falling in love with the series as we continue to watch. We definitely are going to check this series out at some point!

its only a bad isekai if you have things good in your life .... mine wasn't and i want hope i want change i want a second chance and cid did get it and stay with his goal and everything he wants just like almost any other isekai .... isekai will continue not because of you who have it good but because of us as (Hope), for me isekai is there as Hope NOT As ENTERTAINMENT ....

Anime landed flat with me. I got threw the second season but I nearly dropped it a few times as I just did not want to watch it. Maybe because I took it as a serious story for most of season one. I would not watch a season 3.

Cringe isn't used correctly in reference to this anime. Cringe is when someone says something edge but stupid with absolute seriousness to the situation. Cid just isn't cringe because he lacks that serious disposition. We the audience know he's putting on a show for his own entertainment that why it doesn't feel filled with the cringe we fear. What were experiencing can only called phantom cringe...

Only a couple of people died in Tokyo ghoul, most of the drama is just Kaneki struggling to accept hes a ghoul, they killed a couple of characters that pulled heartstrings and is a tearjerker but nothing really special,
Everyone fucking died in Akame ga kill, by the end only Akame survived, oh the MC is having a connection to one of the heroines well too fucking bad heres 3-5 episodes of them growing on each other before we kill her, what this tsundere girl who just joined your group and just started to open up to you, well we will kill her in the most excruciating way and put her decapitated head in a spike, one of the villains is actually just a nice dude who is really good at his job? Heres his entire tragic back story and how he finally found love, better fuckin enjoy it since were going to kill him in the next 2 episodes,
And even if akame isnt the most tragic, theres a fuck ton more tragic than Tokyo ghoul,

“I” “Am” “Atomic” is most folk’s favorite moment of the entire series. Without the lead up, it lacks the badass context, so it looks……cringe af, to some folk.
It's a mediocre show, but the manga is absolute hilarity. It's one of my favourite comedy manga I've ever read.
This is just trashy fantasy isekai fun to watch, you can't take the series seriously. But somehow you can't stop watching it.
5:02 Most people, myself included, severely disagree with this video up to this point. The Eminence in Shadow is a spectacular story, when you get past the fanservice and forced gags. I adore the light novel (actually, most of my favorite LN series are like this) because of the drama, the worldbuilding, the character development, the dark, gritty stakes atp,ya. I actually do not like comedy much at this point, so the goofy shite in the anime, I either give it a giggle because it is well done, or I merely ignore it, focusing on the plot. Most reacters herald the joy of Eminence as a comedy. I rejoice in the sick af story of a world at war between the darkness that crushes and the darkness which brightly wipes away the shadows.
Gigguk, while hilarious and ridiculously clever, makes a poor show of downplaying Eminence.
Gigguk dont like isekai to begin with and want them gone...so...not much worth in that kind of biased viewpoint to gain perspective.
