I love love love how Danielle has video clips for so many of the "forgotten" details of throwing. In the classroom setting, I didn't pay as much attention to the prep/clean-up that goes along with this craft. Now that I have my own throwing space, I have had so many more questions. After scouring through UA-cam video tutorials, I have usually found my answer through Danielle. Thanks so much :) These clips are concise and to the point which makes it all the better.

What a great simple tip for cleaning up! I’ve always been concerned about Clay going down the sink and how to handle that.

It is very helpful to implement in the studio with many people using the sink!

Thank you so much! Wish I could get our community study to do this. Such a mess that I’m thinking of getting a wheel and putting it in my apartment. Problem is I want a Shimpo whisper but they are so heavy. Just not sure what to put on the floor under the wheel. It’s textured. I’m fairly clean when I throw but occasionally splatter on the floor.

I remember those days. I was throwing pots in my kitchen until I figured out that I rarely had time on the wheel btw reclaiming, wedging, throwing, cleaning up pottery wheel, AND THEN having to clean , meticulously clean, the kitchen itself from clay spatters. It all had to be done while having a toddler at home & her older sibling. Afterward, I had to make dinner even tho I had no idea when when my dh would be home. Underground telecommunications didn’t have set times, esp if a line was cut somewhere.

Great video. I’m just starting to set my wheel up. Though we have a septic tank, so I am planning of rinsing outside at the faucet

This was very helpful, thank you. When you say “cast off” the water after the clay has settled, do you mean that you can put that water down the sink as well?

Some good ideas, but I've just got to learn to work without making such a mess.
I still don't tip the "almost" clean water down the sink, but pour it onto the grass outside. The way I figure it, clay is just wet dirt, so it can't really do any harm.
