    IMPORTANT CLARIFICATION: If you're an existing subscriber affected by this pricing change, the new rates (if applicable) will apply when your plan renews - not necessarily on January 15th. Adobe will also email you about these changes one month before your renewal date.

      @@miller-joel I did just that in August. I was on a monthly plan that I only took out in February and just cancelled my subscription and payment method. Didn't have to pay any sort of penalty and then deleted everything related to Adobe off my computer. Happily using Affinity now and not tied in to any of this subscription nonsense.

      A cheaper alternative to paying the new price increase is to go to your closest Party City and buy a Pirate costume. You will need it to set sail pirating the internet.

    Adobe is increasing the prices, and you say they are cool because they will honor a contract they are required to fulfill by law? Of course, if I get an annual subscription and pay they can't change it before the price increase they can't change it. It was a tragedy that Apple dropped Aperture because it kept Adobe decent.

      I understand what you're saying, but I know many photographers who use Lightroom Classic and Photoshop that will be very glad they can continue to pay the same price they've been paying for years for the "Photography (20GB)" plan. I think you're confused about the Lightroom 1TB bundle. I believe it used to include Lightroom Classic, but no longer does so if you need any of Lightroom Classic's additional functionality such as the print module you need the photography bundle. Previously the Lightroom bundle did include Lightroom and Lightroom Classic, but now it doesn't so even if you don't need photoshop if you need Lightroom Classic you're forced to shell out the extra money. So that's another rate increase just in a different way.

    • @Brian444
      @Brian444 Місяць тому +3

      That’s not right. Either you got the Photography 20GB bundle with Lightroom, Lightroom Classic and Photoshop, or you got the Lightroom 1TB bundle with just Lightroom. I know this because thus far I’ve paid for both Lightroom 1TB and the Photography 20GB bundle separately.
      I’m glad they now added Classic to the 1TB plan, but it won’t matter for me until 2026 because I stacked discounted Black Friday codes to get 50% off for the next two years already.

    • @DiveBC
      @DiveBC Місяць тому +2

      In Canada the 1tb lightroom option does not include classic. If you want classic and 1tb cloud the. You are paying for the full photography package including Photoshop.
      I expect that Adobe is trying to get rid of lightroom classic. Push more people to the cloud version. Or maybe move lightroom classic into Thier "professional" line and charge more for it.

    • @davepastern

      You are free to upgrade *if you want* and *when you want*, but it's also perfectly fine if you never upgrade. You don't lose access to your work just because you don't pay Adobe's price every year.
      What I mean is that once you stop paying Adobe, you are no longer able to open an existing catalog and re-export some of your photos. For example if you wanna print some of them a few days after your subscription ends.

    Hey Forest, thanks for making the video. Really clear overview. One comment around the January 15th date. For people who have a plan that is impacted by the plan / pricing changes, it takes effect the next time they are up for renewal (not necessarily on January 15th). January 15th is the first date where people are up for renewal with the changes (hence us sharing information online now a month before that). But again, for existing members on plans which are changing, they keep their current pricing until they are up for their next renewal.
    For example, if you signed up in June 2024 for a plan that is changing, you keep your current price until your next renewal on June 2025.
    Note, if you currently don’t have a photography plan and want to get the 20gb photography plan, you have to do that before January 15th (after that it won’t be available to new users). (and you can keep it until you cancel).
    (Just wanted to be clear for anyone confused about what is happening on the 15th)

I shut the program down while it was trying to import these pictures(that didn't exist). Then every time I tried to open lightroom it immediately crashed my computer. I worked with the Adobe troubleshooter for two hours to try and resolve the issue. I gave him remote access to my computer and he messed my BIOS up so bad I couldn't even get my display to work. All I got was a blank screen. I had to take my computer in to my local computer tech to have him fix my BIOS. Between the cost of the Adobe product and the computer tech I paid about $500. I edited two pictures with it before I had my problems, and I like the unedited versions better than what I did. After I got my computer fixed I immediately deleted all Adobe products from my computer. I know I screwed up, but they charge a fortune for their product. It needs to be more stable than it is. I have the 20Gb plan but don't use Photoshop. The new Lightroom 1Tb seems a good opportunity for me but, as I understand, Lightroom Classic will be available in this plan only starting January 15. So I'm a bit lost on what's better to do. Migrate now to the 1Tb plan but I loose the use of Lightroom Classic (what will happen on 15th of january?) or wait and migrate after the January 15 (if I lock the current price with an annual prepaid on the 20Gb plan, will I have the possibility to migrate to the annual prepaid 1Tb plan ?)

      That's a great question. While I don't know the exact answer, I would simply switch plans on the 14th so you are locked into the old pricing on the Lightroom (1TB) plan. I will say though that if you ever think you might want to learn Photoshop, and plan on staying with Lightroom Classic, you might want to stick with the Photography (20GB) plan.

      @ Thank you, I think waiting for the 14th is perhaps the best option. In the meantime, well perhaps have news about this possibility.

    Thanks for the video. I went to the Australian Adobe site and the L and LrC with 1TB is not available. Is it not a world wide offer or does it only become available on 15-01-2025? Thanks.

    Are prices going up for Adobe Australia coz I've seen nothing about this?

      Yes. I was on the annual 20gb plan, paying $AU14.29/month. Today I changed to the annual 20gb pay-up-front plan and paid $AU171.47. I note the price at my renewal, due December 2025, will increase by $20 to $AU191.93 (= $AU16/month).

    I have a subscription for Photoshop + Lightroom 20GB for 9.99 monthly and if I want to keep this price must I change to an annual subscription?

      Yes. You are correct. You need to do that before your next yearly renewal.

    Thanks for this information - one point of clarification please. My Adobe subscription account (Photography plan (20GB) says
    Subscription Yearly, billed monthly. Will I have to pay the full 12months in one lump sum to remain on this plan at the current price or can I continue my regular monthly payments? Thanks for any clarification.

      Yes, you will need to switch from billed monthly, to billed annually.
