@@westcrewsupportclub2964 Why did you ever pay that much for Adobe if you didn't need it? Obviously if you were able to switch to Affinity, it's because you didn't need Adobe.
It's time to sharpen my Affinity skills. If Adobe keeps this up, Adobe will not be needed. IMO this is a horrible business model and confusing with all the options/changes and charges without any consideration for the users.
Adobe is increasing the prices, and you say they are cool because they will honor a contract they are required to fulfill by law? Of course, if I get an annual subscription and pay they can't change it before the price increase they can't change it. It was a tragedy that Apple dropped Aperture because it kept Adobe decent.
I understand what you're saying, but I know many photographers who use Lightroom Classic and Photoshop that will be very glad they can continue to pay the same price they've been paying for years for the "Photography (20GB)" plan. And no, I don't think Adobe needed to continue offering that price after people's yearly commitment ended and it was time for a renewal.
@@forestchaput but it's not the same price for photography 20gb subs. That is going up. So, you are telling a lie with your comment. USD 9.99/month previously, 14.99 month after January 2025. That's a 50% hike. There's no secret that 99% of users are on the monthly sub btw. Because Adobe was blatantly misleading in their monthly sub signup that suckered us in. And that's why the US DOJ is after Adobe. Oh,. and Adobe is upping the price cos a fuck load of people have told them to fuck off and switched to other software.
They shouldn’t be upping their prices but lowering. Giving the fact that live is getting more expensive overall, Adobe is now just emphasising the costs they charge and creates an incentive for people to start shopping around.
Its a double down tactic. for most people who are out the loop this might work in their favor. most subscribers just work and arent into the updates with pricing. as crazy as that sounds.
frankly I was ok with the 10 USD for the photography plan but 5 USD increase is a bit abusive. I will switch plan and cancel to avoid the penalty fee and switch to affinity as a photoshop replacement. Lightroom is garbage compared to capture one .
@ it’s changing effective January 2025 the photography bundle that used to be 9.90 usd to 15USD per month with an annual plan. As for C1 I use the jack sparrow version which is fully functional including ai masking
UK here I use RAW and PS it costs £9.98pence per month. in you money that's $12.88c, so they all ready charge us over the top. As for the cloud I don't use it and don't want it. If they plan on putting the prices up here I think it's time to leave.
I think you're confused about the Lightroom 1TB bundle. I believe it used to include Lightroom Classic, but no longer does so if you need any of Lightroom Classic's additional functionality such as the print module you need the photography bundle. Previously the Lightroom bundle did include Lightroom and Lightroom Classic, but now it doesn't so even if you don't need photoshop if you need Lightroom Classic you're forced to shell out the extra money. So that's another rate increase just in a different way.
That’s not right. Either you got the Photography 20GB bundle with Lightroom, Lightroom Classic and Photoshop, or you got the Lightroom 1TB bundle with just Lightroom. I know this because thus far I’ve paid for both Lightroom 1TB and the Photography 20GB bundle separately. I’m glad they now added Classic to the 1TB plan, but it won’t matter for me until 2026 because I stacked discounted Black Friday codes to get 50% off for the next two years already.
In Canada the 1tb lightroom option does not include classic. If you want classic and 1tb cloud the. You are paying for the full photography package including Photoshop. I expect that Adobe is trying to get rid of lightroom classic. Push more people to the cloud version. Or maybe move lightroom classic into Thier "professional" line and charge more for it.
@@DiveBC of course they're trying to push more people to the cloud...so they can abuse their amended 2024 TOS and claim a perpetual license on any image on their "cloud"...this is why they are doing it. Are people so stupid as to not see Adobe's ulterior motives?
I can’t wait to get rid of Adobe completely. I hope they read this and know that I “hate use” their software daily. Like I use it and occasionally find myself getting mad about a crash or bug and then I use it angrily with hate in my heart.
I recommend visiting your Adobe account page & clicking the Manage Plan link. My plan of paying monthly was scheduled for renewal on December 28, 2024, so less than 30 days before renewal & no email from Adobe. I switched to the pay annually option to lock in the $9.99 price/month.
Even that increases when the 2025 annual renewal is due. Mine will go up by $AU20. Not a huge increase, but it means I'll be paying $16/month by the end of 2025 and, as a hobbyist, it's just getting too expensive.
really appreciate this video about the adobe photography plan pricing changes. would have been caught off guard. now i locked in my rate by switching to annual plan. thanks!
I've been wanting to switch, but the cost of Capture One is a little too high for me for their monthly plan. And while I appreciate an option to buy the program outright. I dislike how it doesn't allow for upgrades in the future.
Capture One is an excellent program for many photographers! I personally use it for tethering. For my normal workflow however, Lightroom fits my needs much better.
@@forestchaput yeah but they are not stealing my images to train AI and charge me more....Adobe lost over 1 millions subscribers...and capture one is not only for tethering, don't diminish the program...and you don't need a subscription to have it, and in Europe we don't have the 9.99 option, only 20 euros one with 1tb
You and me both. I prefer how it handles Sony raw colors than LR. I'm glad that Adobe doesn't have license to use "my" cloud files. The program is very powerful; then again so is it's overreach.
I’m not trying to diminish C1Pro at all. We taught both C1Pro and Lightroom at our school. I’m just making the point that both programs have their strengths and weaknesses and for me, Lightroom is better for my workflow.
Of course its increasing in price with no value added Have to cloud storage..no choice They have 100% access to your photos, you have no choice when they use and how Good luck
exactly. With a full, perpetual licence to any images stored in the cloud...to do whatever they want. It's criminal that our politicians are allowing such TOS changes to be made, harming consumer rights. One has to question whether our politicians serve we the people, or are corrupt and only serve business (I know what the answer is).
Thank you! This was very informative and much easier to understand than anything from Adobe. With over 14 years of images and being a high volume shooter, the 1TB plan is nowhere near enough to cover a years worth of photos and resoective edits. I'll be sticking with the LrC and Ps plan and keep working on my local drives. I also have a NAS, so if I absolutely need something, I can access my images without the additional cloud storage fees.
You're welcome! That sounds like a great plan. NAS devices are fantastic for local storage - I use mine for all my video content, and it makes life so much easier.
Thanks Forest! I really appreciate this information. I haven’t received anything from Adobe about these upcoming changes. This video definitely helped me decide what I’ll do.
I would think that someone who is not currently using an Adobe Photo Plan, probably is not planning to ever sign up. There are now other photo processing programs that are as good as or better.
@ no. Which programs are better to manage a vast archive and edit/process the photos? Even Lightroom cloud does not come close the Lightroom Classic. There are many Photoshop alternatives. No real good alternatives for Lrc. Maybe Capture One is the only one.
@@stefpix Depending on what I am doing. I use an older Capture One version for tethering/organising studio shoots. I use darktable for editing. It can handle very large libraries and the modules/workflow makes sense to me (after a steep learning curve). Rarely, for anything requiring layers/Ai I use Affinity/Luminar (both one-off purchases)
Sorry, "penalizing" is incorrect, this is how capitalism works. A company raises prices as the economic environment changes e.g. inflation. Sounds like this is the first price change in 10 years, Do you really think the boardroom sat around and discussed how to punish those who stopped using their service? Really? Looks like more of a business decision than some vindictive plot. Bottom line, you don't like Adobe, don't use their service. I do appreciate you voicing your views. I'm just expressing mine too. Have a great day.
@@thomasd6592 Well now, I hadn't thought of that, but I bet they did sit around the boardroom and decide to raise the rates, with an evil glint in their eye. lol Especially after people made fun of their lame explanations. They probably know those still with them aren't going anywhere, so why not? Sure, they can do what they want. But a 50% increase all at once is a bit steep, considering they haven't raised the price in 10 years. Maybe they should've done a .50 cent increase every year.
Thanks for the info! I did not receive any notice from Adobe about these upcoming changes. I looked and saw I was only using 1.5GB of cloud storage. I just switched to the annual 20GB photo plan. Saved myself $120/yr.
Just a little tip if you don't want pay increase or even discount...just process to cancel subscription and before the end of the process they will propose your directly same plan for well less
Hi Forest, In the past if you had the 20GB Photo Plan and you wanted additional cloud storage to use with Lightroom, you could add that by paying the extra $10/month. Going forward, will it be possible to add extra cloud storage to an annual 20GB Photo Plan? Or would you have to sign up for the Photo 1TB plan & the additional fee? Trying to wrap my head around the variations...:-) Thanks!
I live in New Zealand, only use Photoshop and I have the "Photography 20GB" plan. I had a price increase this month, December 2024, from just under NZ$15.00 to about NZ$19.30. Will I be getting another price increase in January?
Yes. I was on the annual 20gb plan, paying $AU14.29/month. Today I changed to the annual 20gb pay-up-front plan and paid $AU171.47. I note the price at my renewal, due December 2025, will increase by $20 to $AU191.93 (= $AU16/month).
Oh, these price increases for the 20gb photography plan represent a nearly 50% increase in pricing. I am basing this on the Australian dollar (AUD) from USD exchange rate. 3 months of that is a whole year's worth of Photomator.
Same old Adobe 💩 They've lost market share to Davinci Resolve now let's see what Apple comes up with their newly acquired Photoshop competitor. Meanwhile there's Luminar for a one time payment.
I'm actually really happy they are adding LRC to the lightroom 1 TB plan! I mostly use LR, but occasionally want to use extensions in LRC, but it has not been worth the extra cost to me to get the photography 1 TB plan. A dollar extra isn't terrible.

Great question! If you want Lightroom Classic and Photoshop (and don't need cloud storage), I would downgrade/subscribe to the "Photography 20GB" plan before January 15th.
5:17 Side question: what is the long term plan for storage and organization for the cloud plan? I’m a LR classic user since LR 1.0 and use my OS to organize my photos, and i prefer that. However my cousin got into LR photography thru the iPad cloud app and she has hit a long term storage problem. My question is, what is the solution to a long term LR cloud storage if it seems to put all of your data in a cloud lump. Meanwhile my LR classic libraries are organized per event, per year, with a LR catalog for each event (think capture one sessions). That is the only way I see to organize a library with backups instead of having all of your eggs Ina cloud basket. Thank you!😊
Great question! Option 1 would be to continue to purchase more storage or cull as things fill up. Option 2 would be to utilize the "Local Storage" options in Lightroom Desktop to take older images and archive them to a local folder. Either way, if you are a high volume shooter, LrC is a much better choice at the moment.
@ ty for the fast reply. My cousin is two years into LR mobile and has experienced its (let’s be honest here) casual approach to a medium or long term organization. If you consider people’s iPhones, it’s a giant block of photos sorted through via AI, it’s convenient to take photos with, it’s a hellscape understanding how your photos are organized since it’s iPhone’s organization, (screenshots, mobile, movie, etc) not yours. Whenever I talk to family members about their iPhone photo libraries, it’s a can kicked down the road. Like my cousin’s LR mobile library. So what is LR mobile’s purpose other than convenient chaos?
Hey Forest, thanks for making the video. Really clear overview. One comment around the January 15th date. For people who have a plan that is impacted by the plan / pricing changes, it takes effect the next time they are up for renewal (not necessarily on January 15th). January 15th is the first date where people are up for renewal with the changes (hence us sharing information online now a month before that). But again, for existing members on plans which are changing, they keep their current pricing until they are up for their next renewal. For example, if you signed up in June 2024 for a plan that is changing, you keep your current price until your next renewal on June 2025. Note, if you currently don’t have a photography plan and want to get the 20gb photography plan, you have to do that before January 15th (after that it won’t be available to new users). (and you can keep it until you cancel). (Just wanted to be clear for anyone confused about what is happening on the 15th) (I work for Adobe)
Clearly and that means Adobe is not doing anything nice for anybody. If someone pays the Anual subscription before Jan 15 Adobe better keep the price of face the regulators. Does Chaput work for Adobe that is presenting Adobe's legal obligation as something nice they are doing for the people?
So Adobe are neglecting loyal customers over many years who have been paying for Photography plan purely to use Photoshop and who never use Lightroom. Oh well I guess Affinity is going to be my only option going forward
There is a lot of information ion missing in this video. 1) if I have a current Lightroom/Photoshop 20G monthly plan, will the price increase at the end of my 1 year term or will it continue at 9.99/month indefinitely, or do I need to pay an annual fee when the year ends or do I need to pay an annual fee in January. Option2. Start switching to another editor.
The spinning ball of death, three hours of Adobe remotely attempting to fix, then Apple trying for two hours was the nail in the coffin for LRC. I had to pay $70 to cancel my subscription but I’ll stick with Luminar, and only use LR Mobile from now on
I'm never quite sure what happens if I decide to not renew my subscription. I know that my original images are still available and unaltered. But what about the many thousands of edits that remain in my catalog? Will they still be accessible even if no longer editable and exportable? If all we loose by not continuing with our subscription will be the lack of continued updates for our LR/PS apps, then I'm just about ready to say "Ta-Ta" to Adobe and fire up my DxO PL.
My account is the Lightroom 10TB plan which includes Photoshop (inc Classic for both), I pay £8.04 per month on an Annual Plan basis, I have been with Adobe for 14 years, do you know what the changes would be ?
First, you keep your current price until your next renewal. If you want to cancel before then (which may include an early cancellation fee depending on your plan), just log into your account and go to the plans tab.
Know what you are doing if you get Adobe lightroom. I somehow got mine to try and import pictures from a folder that did not have any pictures. I shut the program down while it was trying to import these pictures(that didn't exist). Then every time I tried to open lightroom it immediately crashed my computer. I worked with the Adobe troubleshooter for two hours to try and resolve the issue. I gave him remote access to my computer and he messed my BIOS up so bad I couldn't even get my display to work. All I got was a blank screen. I had to take my computer in to my local computer tech to have him fix my BIOS. Between the cost of the Adobe product and the computer tech I paid about $500. I edited two pictures with it before I had my problems, and I like the unedited versions better than what I did. After I got my computer fixed I immediately deleted all Adobe products from my computer. I know I screwed up, but they charge a fortune for their product. It needs to be more stable than it is. What a joke.
For the LIghtroom only plan, you might as well just pay a few bucks for (or prepay) and get PS with the Photography plan now if you can. Even if you don't use it, it's still a good deal, although you do have less storage. But I'll just switch to pay my Photography 20GB plan annually to lock in the price (for $120 it's hard to beat to get LR, LRC and PS plus 20GB of storage, which I use very little of myself). Personally I would like to see Adobe also offer an option to add an extra seat to your subscription (since you can only use the apps on two computers at a time), but for those who might have a tablet, laptop and desktop, or a desktop at work and a laptop and tablet at home, then for maybe another $4 or $5 per month they can add that third device to their plan, so pay $14.99 for example for the 20GB Photography plan for 3 devices.
Thank you for the very clear and informative presentation. One question: I am now not a subscriber. If I subscribe to the Photography Plan now for $9.99/mo, and pay that rate for the first year, does the same $9.99/mo rate apply for the second, third, fourth, fifth, etc years?

Interesting, I rarely use Photoshop so may downgrade to the Lightroom 1TB plan. However my storage is quickly filling. Do you know how I would upgrade to 2TB?
Yep! Open the Creative Cloud application, click on the cloud icon in the upper-right, and click the "Upgrade" button. Also, you could consider using the "Archive to Local Storage" option to pull some of your data off of the cloud and just store it locally. Just make sure you have a good backup system in place for that data.
You are the freaking man. Just saw this video and I changed from the monthly 9.99 to whole lump sum yearly. Yeah, it sucks taking the hit al at once, but it's better to pay the $130 with tax at once rather than almost $200 over a yr period.
How were you able to do it? I tried the same, and, when I clicked on the "manage plan" button, the only option I was given was to cancel outright; there was no option offered to change from monthly to yearly.

Thanks for the info. I just changed from monthly $9.99 20gb plan to annual $119.88. Adobe website informed me I could save 33% by switching and not get the price increase. 👍 plus I get a $7.41 refund for this month. I have until December 29th to cancel.
So yes, you will want to change your payment option from "billed monthly" to "billed annually" to lock in the $9.99/month pricing. You can make that change when your plan is up for renewal, or right now if you want to.
I used to be an annual payment subscriber, then somewhere along the line Adobe switched me to monthly payments. Can I change it back to an annual payment at this point? They sure know how to get you, but none of the other software packages that I am aware of have a map module, and geotagging photos is an important part of my workflow. Thanks so much Forest for this information!
You're welcome! Yes, you can switch back to annual. In your account, click on "Manage Plan" and there should be an option to switch from paid monthly, to paid annually.
I think Im the last one ....also when you feel the cloud...images can still be edited JUST not saved...BUT you can still access them...they don't disappear I reached this point 👉 and went ok 👍
I've been on the $9.99/mo plan since it was first brought out and the entire time it has been $9.99/mo. I thinjk it's reasonable to increase prices after such time, however if the trend starts to be yearly increase then I'm going to have to force myself to at least consider other options. I would love if they had a creators plan that included LRC, PS and Pr for $19.99/mo, I don't need cloud storage either.
Very clear explanation! (as always...) 🤔 everyone is jumping to the cloud... for some reason I thought that my $9,99 a month plan, (Photography one...), had the cloud included... Do I have all the same features than LRC... what is cool is that I can use all my devices, but 1TB won't last long, & then ADOBE will charge way extra for space...) 😑 what to do???? 😩

@@angeltodorov5918 ha ha fair enough mate! Yeah.. I figure that I would need tons of 'cloud space" (that is how they make money I guess...) to do my work. So i will keep the classic .. cheers!
So, I will now go from €12.19 to €17.99 ($9.99-$14.99 US). I’ll think about it a bit, but I’ll probably cancel it. I already hate paying for Lightroom and never using it. I just want Photoshop, but they don’t want to offer it at a reasonable standalone price for solo PS (again)
Before taking up the hobby of photography, I used Photoshop and Illustrator in concert with Indesign and FrameMaker when I worked as a documentation writer and desktop publisher. In that situation, I had no need for Lightroom. It's too bad that Adobe doesn't allow customers to choose individual programs according to their specific needs.
Thank you so much for this info. I see a lot of people will abandon Adobe software. I'm one of them. Too expensive. So moving on to learn other software. On the video front, DaVinci Resolve is way better than Premiere, for instance. The hardest one to replace is Lightroom Classic... photoshop, not so much. And given my local reality, paying annually is not an option.
The only problem is that the cloud version of LR is completely useless, you have to have your entire catalogue of images in Adobe cloud, local storage isn’t part of the catalogue. I have 10TB of photos split across 3 catalogues so it’s classic for me. I tried using LR cloud for one of my catalogues but it was unusable, it took several hours to sync a couple of hundred images
Oh yes, Lightroom vs. Lightroom Classic completely depends on the photographer. I was a die-hard Classic user, but once I stopped shooting as much high-volume work and got faster internet, I've really started to like the Lightroom workflow.

It's time to sharpen my Affinity skills. If Adobe keeps this up, Adobe will not be needed. IMO this is a horrible business model and confusing with all the options/changes and charges without any consideration for the users.
I paid about $35 for Affinity a few months ago when they had a sale. That’s looking like a better and better deal every day.
Apple just bought photomator and pixelmator pro so they have plans to make a comeback.
Adobe is ridiculous. I just left them for picketer/photomator. All in. 1 price. Couldn’t be happier. I’m not a cow. Why does adobe wanna milk me? 🐄
It is even worse. Adobe i removing the best option, Photography 200GB, for new users, and you say Adobe is cool?!?
They shouldn’t be upping their prices but lowering. Giving the fact that live is getting more expensive overall, Adobe is now just emphasising the costs they charge and creates an incentive for people to start shopping around.
Its a double down tactic. for most people who are out the loop this might work in their favor. most subscribers just work and arent into the updates with pricing. as crazy as that sounds.
I bet it has to do with all the AI stuff they have been adding the last year or so.
You must be joking - another price hike, the value being what exactly? Going forward I choose the NONE plan, as in kicking Adobe to the curb.
he's probably paid by Adobe to spin positive BS.
frankly I was ok with the 10 USD for the photography plan but 5 USD increase is a bit abusive. I will switch plan and cancel to avoid the penalty fee and switch to affinity as a photoshop replacement. Lightroom is garbage compared to capture one .
What a nonsense you write down. The price of Adobe isn’t going up if you’re already a subscriber and C1 is almost $400 😂
@ it’s changing effective January 2025 the photography bundle that used to be 9.90 usd to 15USD per month with an annual plan. As for C1 I use the jack sparrow version which is fully functional including ai masking
Adobe is making it easy to leave them now that Apple is in the Game. Jan 15 bye bye Adobe it’s been nice knowing you, but you just made my plan easier
UK here I use RAW and PS it costs £9.98pence per month. in you money that's $12.88c, so they all ready charge us over the top. As for the cloud I don't use it and don't want it. If they plan on putting the prices up here I think it's time to leave.
Thinking it’s time to look around too
it would nice if Adobe actually informed their customers that rates were increasing, at least Dick Turpin wore a mask
Stuart, everyone whose rates are changing will get an email a month before their next renewal date (since that is when it takes affect).
I suspect the photography 20GB plan goes away completely in 2026. So the price might be locked for a year, but don't count on it after that.
All these Adobe plans are excellent... for Adobe. 😮
Katy, the beginning date in Jan 15th, 2025, so you will get your renewal reminder for the updated plans in November 2025.
I did this too :)
Even that increases when the 2025 annual renewal is due. Mine will go up by $AU20. Not a huge increase, but it means I'll be paying $16/month by the end of 2025 and, as a hobbyist, it's just getting too expensive.
Jesus Christ, here I was, fucking naive as fuck, thinking they would lower their prices. 😂 Afinity Photo will profit from this.
Just like Davinci Resolve in the video editing realm.
really appreciate this video about the adobe photography plan pricing changes. would have been caught off guard. now i locked in my rate by switching to annual plan. thanks!
I'm so glad i left Adobe, Capture one happy user, stand alone version
Of course its increasing in price with no value added
Have to cloud storage..no choice
They have 100% access to your photos, you have no choice when they use and how
Good luck
You’re welcome, Don! I’m happy to help. Feel free to email me if you have any other questions. 🙂
I'm happy that I use Nikon NX Studio, which is free.
I would think that someone who is not currently using an Adobe Photo Plan, probably is not planning to ever sign up. There are now other photo processing programs that are as good as or better.
I wouldn't!
There is no real substitute for Lightroom Classic.
@@stefpix You're joking right? There are so many better programs out there it's crazy.
With all the problems Adobe created for itself, I can't believe they are also raising their pricing.
So they're penalizing those who didn't ditch them last summer. Real nice.
Well said 👏
Thanks for the info! I did not receive any notice from Adobe about these upcoming changes. I looked and saw I was only using 1.5GB of cloud storage. I just switched to the annual 20GB photo plan. Saved myself $120/yr.
You're welcome! I'm happy to help. I'm glad you locked in that other plan.
Just a little tip if you don't want pay increase or even discount...just process to cancel subscription and before the end of the process they will propose your directly same plan for well less
Thanks for the update. I wish Adobe had a senior citizen plan lol! This plan would be like $350 one-time pmt and last until I drop dead! Seriously!
That's a great idea! LOL.
Thanks for the heads up.
You're welcome!
Yet another reason to dump Adobe!
Affernity photo.
Nice summary of the changes
Thanks Greg! 😀
Are prices going up for Adobe Australia coz I've seen nothing about this?
Does this apply in the US alone or does it also apply in europe? There is no mention if it on german adobe website
I'm actually really happy they are adding LRC to the lightroom 1 TB plan! I mostly use LR, but occasionally want to use extensions in LRC, but it has not been worth the extra cost to me to get the photography 1 TB plan. A dollar extra isn't terrible.
Me too!
@@forestchaput at 3:48 you mention that LrC will be included as part of the Lr/1Tb Plan... Currently I have the Lr/LrC/Ps/20g plan but never use PS and now want the 'Lr/LrC/1Tb Plan'. Where can I confirm that Lr/1Tb will have Lr/LrC/1Tb for $120/year?
Thanks for the update.
I was not able to change my payment option from monthly to annually via the website but ended up chatting to Customer Support and got it changed, added bonus it was £95 instead of £120
Glad to hear it!
This is happening only to US plans / prices or worldwide? 🤔
Did you get an email for it? I haven’t seen anything coming in my email yet. Is this only applicable for US customers or worldwide.
Adobe has said that you should get an email about a month before your current plan is set to renew.
Good video!
Make me realize that Adobe are out of my price range and I need to find something else to edit my fotos with.
Looks like I need to switch to Adobe alternatives! What are the price changes for those of us who have the Creative Cloud All Apps 100GB???
I don't believe the "All Apps" plan pricing is changing at all.
great video!!! do you know if the Lightroom Mobile subscription is changing?
Thank you! I don’t think that plan is changing at all.
very well explained. i have the 1TB Lightroom Plan. :) For occasional detailed edits, I use Affinity Photo. 👍
I didn’t hear anything about Lr Mobile being mentioned. Is that price being increased as well?
This for US customers only. For the rest of the World, Sayonara Adobe...!
Price changes are global. Not just US.
Ok, so in Finland the price ent from 12,54 to 18,99 per month and if you try to switch to annual it says "We’re unable to continue with this plan. Select another plan or if you think you’re seeing this message in error, please contact Customer Support."...
I'm not sure on a solution for that one. I've heard of a few other users having the same issue though.
Same problem in the Netherlands. I’m unable to switch to annual.
what if you dont care about the cloud storage? I dont use it
Great question! If you want Lightroom Classic and Photoshop (and don't need cloud storage), I would downgrade/subscribe to the "Photography 20GB" plan before January 15th.
Great comprehensive video. Very informative. Thanks
Glad it was helpful!

Side question: what is the long term plan for storage and organization for the cloud plan?
(Just wanted to be clear for anyone confused about what is happening on the 15th)
(I work for Adobe)
Thank you for the clarification!
Clearly and that means Adobe is not doing anything nice for anybody. If someone pays the Anual subscription before Jan 15 Adobe better keep the price of face the regulators. Does Chaput work for Adobe that is presenting Adobe's legal obligation as something nice they are doing for the people?
I’m on monthly subscription.
Can upgrade to a yearly subscription?
You sure can! Just go into your account, click on "Manage Plan" and change it from billed monthly to billed annually.
So, if I sign up for the 20 GB plan before January 15th on a yearly basis, how much will I pay in January 2026?
I think it should be $119.88/year into the future.
Is there a plan to upgrade photoshop on the iPad or is it going away, has not been upgraded in months
So Adobe are neglecting loyal customers over many years who have been paying for Photography plan purely to use Photoshop and who never use Lightroom.
Oh well I guess Affinity is going to be my only option going forward
The price of Adobe subscriptions is already obscene.
What should the price be?
Yet another reason to start looking into LR alternatives... Darktable, RawTherapee, Dxo, On1, Luminar, and Capture One are all solid options.
I have four drives. One is 2TB back up. Why do I need the cloud?
There is a lot of information ion missing in this video. 1) if I have a current Lightroom/Photoshop 20G monthly plan, will the price increase at the end of my 1 year term or will it continue at 9.99/month indefinitely, or do I need to pay an annual fee when the year ends or do I need to pay an annual fee in January. Option2. Start switching to another editor.
Great more money to Adobe, for more crashes and constant updates with bugs. I think it’s time I find a new editing software.
The spinning ball of death, three hours of Adobe remotely attempting to fix, then Apple trying for two hours was the nail in the coffin for LRC. I had to pay $70 to cancel my subscription but I’ll stick with Luminar, and only use LR Mobile from now on
is this just in USA? I called adobe and they said my price not changing? I pay monthly
Thanks for the heads up!
You're welcome!
Do any of these "Pay once" programs run AI assistance as well ? I'm wondering how they'll survive if they do
I'm never quite sure what happens if I decide to not renew my subscription.
Unfortunately, I don't know how the changes would affect your current pricing. Your current pricing is insanely good.
How do I set about cancelling my subscription, other than to cancel my DD.
I knew this was coming. I suspect next year they will get rid of the 20GB plan all together.
Ever wondered why FBI interfere in Adobe’s subscription policy crap?
That is a great point!
Thank you for the very clear and informative presentation. One question: I am now not a subscriber. If I subscribe to the Photography Plan now for $9.99/mo, and pay that rate for the first year, does the same $9.99/mo rate apply for the second, third, fourth, fifth, etc years?
If you are willing to pay annually (one lump-sum of $119.88) instead of monthly, then yes!
No. I was on the annual 20gb plan, paying $AU14.29/month. Today I changed to the annual 20gb pay-up-front plan and paid $AU171.47. I note the price at my renewal, due December 2025, increases by $20 to $AU191.93 (= $AU16/month).

I bet you have the "Photography (20GB)" plan which sounds like a good choice given your use of Photoshop.
So is the 20GB photography plan discontinued??
I Have existing subscription of 20GB annual photography plan paid monthly but right now I have a free trial and billing will start JAN 15 2025 so will my plan be same price??
Change your paid monthly to annualy and you will get the same price. I did this yesterday after seeing this UA-cam video.
I'm on the Lightroom classic / photoshop $9.99 plan. What do I need to do to lock in that same price yearly? Where do I go? I'm not seeing any options when I sign in to my account telling me I need to change to a yearly plan.
I think you can click the “Manage Plan” button in your account to make that switch.
@@forestchaput I tried that and there was no option to switch to yearly. So I opened up a chat with adobe and they told me that I could keep paying monthly
and my price would be locked in. According to them, they are NOT making people pay yearly? Now I'm confused? I'd post the conversation but can't do that in this format.
I offered to pay yearly, but they told me that my $9.99 a month plan will not change whether I pay yearly or monthly.
Get the Affinity suite, folks.
DONE
@ravenfallsphotography6254 Should be there. I went to manage subscription". The should be options to increase, change plan, or choose the 9.99 billed yearly. Should come out around $130 depending on tax.
Just received the e-mail that starting NEXT MONTH they're going to charge me 5 EURO more per month! This is an outrage! I was already using Affinity designer for all my vector work but prefered photoshop over affinity photo. Looks like the price is now a MAJOR factor to switch completely.
You may be able to avoid that price increase by changing your billing from monthly to annual.
I saved hundreds by now for avoiding the Adobe subscription/cloud storage plans. There are several good alternatives.
I haven't gotten a notification and I was 1 month out (just got hit with my 9.99), so I went ahead and switched to the annual so I don't forget and have to pay the 14.99/mo. I'm on the 20GB Photography plan
Nice!
I was on the annual 20gb plan, paying $AU14.29/month.

As someone who no longer works and does photography as a hobby, it's over-priced.
I bloody hate subscription-based products. So much so, that I've asked my children to buy my PS subscription each year for my birthday so I don't officially have to.
Thanks for the info. I just changed from monthly $9.99 20gb plan to annual $119.88. Adobe website informed me I could save 33% by switching and not get the price increase. 👍 plus I get a $7.41 refund for this month. I have until December 29th to cancel.
Nice!
So now I have a yearly subscription. But I pay for it 9.99 a month. So I have to pay it all up front for the whole year?
Sorry. Got a little confused.
Darktable has a map module. I don't need it, but it's there. Only catch is the software is free and runs on any operating system. Oh well.
You're welcome! Yes, you can switch back to annual. In your account, click on "Manage Plan" and there should be an option to switch from paid monthly, to paid annually.
What about the full creative cloud price honey?
I don't believe the pricing on the "All Apps" plan is changing.
@ awesome ! 🌹
Switched to Affinity, Davinci Resolve and Photolab 8 and haven't looked back. No more subscriptions!
I think Im the last one ....also when you feel the cloud...images can still be edited JUST not saved...BUT you can still access them...they don't disappear
I reached this point 👉 and went ok 👍
I've been on the $9.99/mo plan since it was first brought out and the entire time it has been $9.99/mo. I thinjk it's reasonable to increase prices after such time, however if the trend starts to be yearly increase then I'm going to have to force myself to at least consider other options. I would love if they had a creators plan that included LRC, PS and Pr for $19.99/mo, I don't need cloud storage either.
I would LOVE a "creator" plan.
Very clear explanation! (as always...) 🤔 everyone is jumping to the cloud... for some reason I thought that my $9,99 a month plan, (Photography one...), had the cloud included... (unless I am confuse and I am using the Lr app on my Iphone, which might be another thing...). Do you think having the cloud is worth it...? Do I have all the same features than LRC... what is cool is that I can use all my devices, but 1TB won't last long, & then ADOBE will charge way extra for space...) 😑 what to do???? 😩
You do not have all the features of the Classic, that is what stopping me from using iPad as a editing device. Its just a cool gimmick for youtubers to drink coffee in starbucks with that ipad.
Thank you! I would probably stick to Lightroom Classic if you have a lot of images.
@@angeltodorov5918 ha ha fair enough mate! Yeah.. I figure that I would need tons of 'cloud space" (that is how they make money I guess...) to do my work. So i will keep the classic .. cheers!
Not me blindly going into this video thinking adobe got the message and they are lowering their prices for different needs....
I would love an à la carte system for subscribing to different Adobe applications.
fyi, you can lock in the existing cost (per year) if you changed to a yearly, paid up front plan. (I work for adobe)
@ I’m sorry, but I don’t want to spend around €150 upfront.
You are very welcome for the information.
Storing IP with Adobe seems pretty crazy.
I've made an informed decision: I'll never use an Adobe product ever again in my lifetime.
