This is me at this time. I am fighting a battle with doubt and cynicism and it is a very difficult season for me. I worry because I have a young family and I want to be a Godly example to my wife and my kids. I ask for prayer because I am asking in my heart that God revive my faith, I want my spiritual eyes open again, and that He doesn't let me fade away.

The Bible is true. It's ahead of science, Ref Job 26:7 (intergalactic gravitational force), Job 36:27-28 (Water cycle), Job 28:5 ( presence of Lava beneath the soil). All these were written thousands of years before we could discover them. It's ahead of history, Ref Ezra 1:1-3 (Acts of Cyrus the great). Isa 45:1-3 and 13 (were prophecied 170 years BEFORE Cyrus was born). Daniel 8:21-22 ( The death of Alexander and the division of his kingdom among his 4 generals was prophecied about 2 centuries before Alexander was born). All prophecies about Jesus' coming came true. What's more, even today's Lockdown and our home confinement had been prophecied in Isa 26:20 Go, my people, enter your rooms and shut the doors behind you; hide yourselves for a little while until his wrath has passed by.

I’m right there with you. It truly is the enemy wanting our doubt to take us away from God. Just keep listening to biblical sermons and reading the Bible. Cry out to him to save you from the attack. That’s what I’m doing. Don’t let satan win

When I read Proverbs, there 's a bit of a struggle believing that some of these were inspired by God, knowing they were written by a man who unlike all other writers of the Bible, may not have received salvation. When teachers of the Word gloss over these difficulties, credibility is found wanting. A simple "I don't know" means far more than "I believe it's spiritual warfare".
i agree. i was raised a devout christian and am really struggling to believe the bible anymore. videos like this do not help. i am suffering from cognitive dissonance. the more i learn about history, the more and more questions i have and the more the bible doesnt add up. i can never get an answer. this is what breaks my heart and makes me want to give up. i never get an answer to why the story of the virgin birth exists in egyptian mythology which influenced the greeks, followed by the romans and predates christianity. i never get an answer to the council of nicea and how the romans had to get their story straight about jesus. i never get an answer to how the bible has been edited, translated and interpreted over centuries with certain parts left out and how king james orchestrated this.
etf42 - thanks for the open heart my friend. funny enough i found the miracles recounted in the gospels quite matter-of-fact if God exists. browsing UA-cam, i find that some of the teachings are diametrically opposed even though the same Bible is used. i used to have a child-like faith when i was 19. decades later now, i have started to re-evaluate my faith. what clicked in me was the question, what did Jesus' apostles actually believed. after all they were the ones Jesus promised that when the Spirit comes at Pentecost, He will guide them into all truth. In the process of searching i had to shear off a few pet beliefs, even heresies. My renewed interest started with the UA-cam messages of Ravi Zacharias, Adrian Rogers, David Pawson and Zac Poonen, a teacher from Bangalore. i gladly recommend them to you. May God bless you richly my friend in your thirst and search for Him.
etf42 Where proof should be found more than anything, is the evidence of the resurrection. (Pauls letter to corinth is a primary document btw. Look at what he says about the resurrection. )This is what matters most because if Christ did not raise from the dead than we're screwed and Christianity doesn't matter, but it's true and that is the greatest thing for us to know. Look at the resurrection. Not the mythology.
etf42 I once struggled with this same issue until I realized Satan is the god of this world. He twists everything for his purpose. Once you believe is ultimately in control, you know that the bible we have now is exactly the way God wanted it to be. It doesn't shock me that mythology has similar stories to biblical ones because Satan immitates whar God does in order to decieve others and mock him. Remember Jesus' first coming was predicted in Genesis in front of Satan. Since then he has been doing everything to deceive humans away from God using media, education, stories, whatever he can. The best thing we can do is pray to the lord and ask fmto have eyes to see truth. The holy spirit will reveal truth to you that are affrimed in the bible like he does for me. Never forget that history is written by the victors. What I lovw about the bible is how man's many failures are included, unlike how many secular history books focus on hiding the flaws of the "heros". Satan at work to promote pride. God bless you!

(Which millions and millions of people have wrestled with by the way) Where's the affirmation the doubt is not a bad thing, but rather, proof of faith and proof of genuine desire to know the truth?

Charles Bucher all I'm saying is that I've been through doubt with the word of god(the bible) in the past and it's not until you place your faith in him 100% and believe every word from first to last is that truth that you no longer have to be in doubt but you actually have peace of mind and in your heart. and just as the pastor said, God through prayer can definitely do that for you I'm proof of that I owe it all to the man above. but in my opinion I don't think it's ok to doubt for anybody because it's like fighting with the truth and trying g to compare it with false truths that this world has taught. I'm not perfect and I make mistakes and I'm working to grow in the word of the Lord and so I definitely didn't intend to assume I know the strength of your faith or your place in life my apologies if that's how received it but this is my take on this one.

This was according to his goodwill and plan If you doubt or don't believe, it seems that it's because your god wants it to be that way. As a believer, you were chosen to be one since before the creation of the world. No wonder Christians feel so special and hold themselves up on such high pedestals.
sorry if we have stumbled, we have not been made perfect in love and we're all in the process of growing up in faith. As none of us know the names of those recorded in the book of life, any unbeliever is potentially still chosen to be a child of God, thus we should still, in good faith and in love and gentleness, try to show people the goodness of God and how precious Christ is, how great his sacrifice was for us. The most unlikely people have been saved, God chose Paul (who prosecuted Christians) out of all people - what a miracle! But also a testimony that we can't really say for sure which people are chosen to not believe. I hope you keep in mind that the Holy Spirit guides us to deeper understanding in the word and opens our hearts to accept the truth in scriptures, I hope you seek God with a genuine heart, Christ died for all and all who repent will find life in him.

I wrestle with this. However, in the past God has used this so I draw near and closer to Him.
