It seems like they could have set the price at $4000 and still sold them. It's crazy. But since the Galax HOF card was $2600... Asus could have gone $2800 and still have been "better" for more money. Great video by the way. My only suggestion would be to feature some footage of you installing the card or at least using the card. Especially in this case where the aesthetics are an important selling point. But there are also many tech youtubers who have been accused of reviewing products they didn't actually have, using other people's numbers or just making them up. Showing the card in the video solves the concern.
@@Slyons89thanks and I appreciate your suggestion … I filmed the unboxing but then decided against using it because it didn’t really flow with the rest of the video … that said I might show the unboxing as a short … it did come incredibly well packaged … even the inner box clear window had protective film on it!!
I wouldn't pay past the price of the Strix. Why? Because it may be a beautiful card (and it is, lets face it), but they put the liquid metal touching directly the copper plate... they could have nickel plated it and there would be no problem at all, but as it stands the liquid metal will seep into the copper and "dry" (well, not really dry, will just have less liquid metal making the heat transfer).

The thing with Matrix is that it's made to be a toy for overclockers and children of petroleum magnates. GPU die is highly binned, the design is made exceptionally for RTX 4090 and the absurdly powerful VRM for it's best utilization. The same applies to all OC lineups like GALAX HoF, MSI LIGHTING and Colorful Kudan.
nah the hype is gone, this particular card is readily available in the used market for about £2000, thats the same price as a regular aftermarket 4090, plus with no 4090ti and only 7 months away from Nvidia 50 series announcement I would wait until November 2024 for the 5080/5090 cards
Not sure what you mean, the objective was to try to replicate the performance of the Matrix Platinum but at a much lower cost, so using a TUF was the right choice. And no, the GPU is the same spec … the Matrix Platinum GPU’s are binned and the only reason you pay more for the strix versus the TUF is the better cooler, which I replaced anyway.
@@tellrowland5203my point was that the gpu itself is a 4090, although they bin them for the matrix. I am aware that the pcb components are higher quality, which certainly helps explain the superior OC. I don’t do pcb work and/or repairs like northridgefix.

In the US the used price is around $2K but the new price is still around $4K … definitely not worth the premium.

Do you do pcb work or know components? Because the matrix is deffinately not just a 4090 with a fancy cooler
