Reviewing The F9F-8 Cougar | War Thunder Sim VR

- The F9F-8 Cougar is one of my favourite jets in the US tech tree in War Thunder. It may not be the best dogfighter, but it is an EXCELLENT support aircraft, being well armed with four 20mm M3 cannons and four Aim9b missiles, it packs a punch!
As it was never designed as an air-superiority fighter it is recommended to not engage combat fighters such as the Mig 15 or 17 in a one-on-one engagement, they will outmanoeuvre you. If you do find yourself in an engagement with these foes, rely on good defensive tactics, the Cougar has an excellent airbrake, use it!

Gets vr to play warthunder sim , can't even last 30 min due to vr sickness. :( Hopefully over more time it goes away but always good watching you!
Sometimes it takes a while, do it in bursts and extend your game time slowly :)

It's my favorite plane for bullying IL-28 zombers.
Once went 35/2 in it.
my favorite things was when they tried to swap to a TU-4, and I still manage to get a lock because of how much thermal mass it has.

the cougar is almost broken, it's extremely cheap to get and it allows a noob like me to get kills. I'm finding it much, MUCH harder to play the russians because I dont have missiles there and I can only rely on my 8very low) skill to get kills. The cougar for me is always a joy to fly in sim, even if it sucks in a proper 1v1.
Gaijin was so nice to supply the R.C.A.F. 416th Lynx Squadron camo for the F9F-8. So of course that is the camo I use. Or, like yesterday, you get to play with our group at 7 am your time.
I really want that cammo but I have 0.9 GJC lol

I like to troll people on this plane. My online persona is kind of a douchey guy. So I say at the beginning of the match that this thing is OP sarcastically and that gaijin should nerf. This usually sways the discussion into the opposite opinion. I proceed to climb appropriately and fly above furballs, where if im lucky, get 1 or 2 kills, maybe 3 if they are slow n low. If I get on top of the leaderboard I reiterate that this thing is OP. I like to see mig 17 pilots reaction to this and they often are very very salty. I love flying this underdog. I must have around a k/d of 1.7 which is pretty damn decent.
I am of the opinion that most propeller-less are ugly. This, however, is not one of them. Nice vid man :)
I was so happy to brag about my Canadian, 416th Squadron Lynx camo I forgot to mention: Imagine my surprise, when I found the F9F 8 could not catch an IL28sh. The IL28sh, had not dropped its bomb load yet, but its boosters are good enough I could never catch it. I should note, I did not have missiles on to slow me down. That was both a surprise and and disappointment.

there are two researchable sabers for japan, one without missiles at 8.3 and one with missiles at 9.3
then there is the premium one with missiles
You can tell I don't play Japanese jets 😅😅

at 14:55 you say that japan has only a premium saber but in fact japan have 3 saber, 2 tech tree and 1 premium and there is two of them with missiles

Hey what do you use for throttle n such? And for rudder controls? I’m looking for a new joystick atm :)
I use a T16000M throttle and flightstick. I dont have pedals yet, but the throttle has a pair of "bumper" buttons that I use for rudder
Can you tell me why is it so easy to spot enemies on ur video? All black dots stand out so much more compared to when I play. Was it changed?

Hey buddy what config you use on joystick? I buy one and dont know how to config to get the best performance on wt sim
i would advise just set up the settings yourself. i did that and it works great because you then can put the things that you use most in the easiest to access buttons/axis

Hey Tea, is it good in rb? Mostly playing rb right now, thinking what tier 6 jet should I get first.
I have not logged a single RB game in it, though I imagine it would suffer in a full uptier quite badly. That being said it has 4 AAMs so at its own tier it would be decent enough.

@@Alimentasable I used to play this plane in RB. It's definitely a challenging plane to fly but if you climb, and are patient, this thing can be a monster. It's a boom and zoomed above all
