Wow, just think this was just before they had fast passes and everything was just the way I remember it, not with all this new fangled crap they ruined it with. God, how I miss old disney world.
This was before The Little Mermaid... Before Aladdin.... Before Beauty and The Beast... Before The Muppets... There was this video info. about Walt Disney World.
The Living Seas now has Nemo (and friends), they've put the Three Caballeros in Mexico, and (most recently)...... Elsa and Anna are in Norway. When it comes to Frozen, Disney just can't seem to "Let It Go".
Thats funny it said turn to channel 10,for over 15 years I broadcast on channel 10 in Raleigh, NC. Great video I'm now going to disney in two weeks for a honeymoon.
The Ears were taken down from Spaceship Earth to honor the anniversary of the opening of EPCOT. There were no Mickey ears when it opened. The look of Tomorrowland, as I understand it, was redesigned to be retro.
Thank you so much for posting this! I barely remember the beginning of this with Jiminy Cricket. This aired in the resorts around the time I started going to WDW. Does anyone know if there were any videos from the resorts that ran before this version? I have one from 1995 (bootleg; not a direct feed) that I'll try to find in the meantime.
It used to be about a LOT of stuff, personified by Mickey: family, good times, and preserving your inner child. Now it's just being dragged to Hell by the pop stars being dug up every other week and given their own shows and movies.
There were plans to open a Russian pavilion in World Showcase. The concept renderings for it indicate that it would have been made to resemble Moscow's Red Square. However, all of these plans were cast aside as the Soviet Union had begun to collapse. Other potential pavilions such as Brazil, Israel, Spain, and Equatorial Africa met the same fate.
I'm sorry for bothering you..I've gone back and forth on whether to post my question or not but I finally decided to because of how far back this video goes and how rare it is. Do you have any direct feed capture of the Channel 10 "Around the World Today" stuff referenced to in this video? I'm looking for any of the Channel 10 stuff from 1987, 1988 or 1989. If you've got it, it would be a huge help and end a 20 year search :)
Do you have any clips of the 'Around The World Today' channel 10 (mentioned at 1:27) ? I remember that channel -- three catchy songs (no dialogue) with text updates on all the parks. If you knew the songs names or had clips of them, that would be amazing. I've been trying to track them down for a while.
I remember this. I liked this a lot more than the newer one they play with Stacy as the host. I'm sure she's a nice girl and all, but how can you replace Jiminy Cricket? ;-)
oh yeah. it used to be all about mickey, until they came and destroyed that. and with the success of those franchises, walt disney must be rolling over in his grave (or cryogenic chamber if you believe that story)
As if those are the things to gripe about. The idiot sitcoms, the tween heartthrobs and the cancel of decent cartoon shows after they've run their few seasons are my main reasons why I don't watch "The Disney Channel" anymore. It's a load of pre-packaged pandering. Disney used to mean quality intelligent entertainment for all ages, not moron programming.
Hey MarathonBen - I totally know what you mean, and I would love to know the names of those songs too!! if you ever find out, please message me. All the best.
@liljayyboi2 , I am sorry, I cannot send that book to you because it means so much to me. It represents My First Visit to Walt Disney World back in the Spring of 1983 when there was a thing called The Magic Kingdom Club. HOWEVER, I CAN still share the magic with you. Please click on my name on this post and send me a personal message with your email address on it. I hope that I can work a little Copying Magic for you. ~ Dwight
Thank you so much for posting this! My wife and I were there for the fifteenth anniversary. This brings back great memories!
I remember swimming in River Country and walking Discovery Island. Such a blast from the past.
That background music, it's actually kind of catchy..
Wow, just think this was just before they had fast passes and everything was just the way I remember it, not with all this new fangled crap they ruined it with. God, how I miss old disney world.
Take me back to 1987, pleeeeeeeeease?
This was before The Little Mermaid...
Before Aladdin....
Before Beauty and The Beast...
Before The Muppets...

Thank you so much, the children are delighted...we filmed it as they loved it so much and the discs failed on us!
The Living Seas now has Nemo (and friends), they've put the Three Caballeros in Mexico, and (most recently)...... Elsa and Anna are in Norway. When it comes to Frozen, Disney just can't seem to "Let It Go".
I remember this!!! Holy cow!!!!
Those guides are still at my parents place in a drawer somewhere...I think the mid-'80s where the best times in Disney...
Over 20 years later and Captain EO is back, who would have thought!
I recorded it when I was 7 years old. My family and I were staying at one of the resort cottages near the Disney Inn.
now while the Disney Channel has gone down the toilet, Phineas and Ferb isn't so bad.
Thats funny it said turn to channel 10,for over 15 years I broadcast on channel 10 in Raleigh, NC. Great video I'm now going to disney in two weeks for a honeymoon.
Yeah, the Empress Lilly Riverboat has become Fulton's Crab House.
The Ears were taken down from Spaceship Earth to honor the anniversary of the opening of EPCOT. There were no Mickey ears when it opened.
The look of Tomorrowland, as I understand it, was redesigned to be retro.
and from what i've seen, Discovery Island's been in a lurid state of disrepair ever since.
I love the voice inflection used at the time, and how there was no Russia in Epcot.
Anyone notice that the EPCOT Center segment completely glosses over Horizons?
This is wonderful thanks for sharing!
Believe it or not, liljayyboi2,
I still have My Do it all at Disney Guide from My First Walt Disney World Trip Back in the Spring of 1983.

what was that box with the knobs on it and the device with the buttons and cord the lady was talking on
a time machine would be nice so i can go back to wdw in its prime.
I never been to Walt Disney World but i miss Horizons at Epcot
I'm with ya on that one.
The floast at 2:27 is still used and the narrator is the voice from the monorail!
2:06, outdated then back then they were showing the Country Bear Vacation Hoedown
it sure is, and in 1987, it was just the market place that existed.
It would be a perfect day if I were overlooking the Seven Seas Lagoon & hearing the Haunted Mansion howl in the distance while watching this
Is it just me, or has Mickey's hairline been receding? This is SO cool!
Don't forget the Disney Company as a whole.
Love the hair :)

the water needs to be sanitary
Is that the voice from the old monorail spiels!??
Ah, thanks a lot.
Does Discovery Island still exist? I know they closed River Country. I haven't been there in 10 years!!!!
:Sigh: :(

Was that before Stacey J. Aswad?
Really? LUCKY!!! What was it like?
I got to actually drive the monorail
The water is not sanitary.
Walt does movies
Before Muppetvision 3d. Not before the Muppets.

Unless..?
20 years before that annoying chick.
