- I unearthed this rare treasure from my dusty video collection. It is the information channel loop that was broadcast at the Walt Disney World Resort hotels during the mid to late 1980's.
I was born in 1987, and have loved disney ever since I can remember. This put the biggest smile on my face. Thank you for sharing. I will being going to Disney in less than two months, and I cannot wait. I get just as excited now, as I did in '92, '94, '96...... :)
Yep, I remember that arcade, too. It was awesome. That space is now a restaurant called The Wave... of American Flavors. I ate there on my last trip and mentioned that I thought it used the be the video arcade and the waitress was shocked that I remembered.
fantastic vids! I used to watch this repeatedly perched on the edge of bed as a little kid while my parents "recovered" from each day's adventures. For me, this represents the "real" WDW.
Oh, man...1987 was the first time I ever went to Disney World with my family, and I was so jealous that we weren't staying in the Contemporary Resort (we were staying at a Ramada in Kissimmee instead, I think). Too many memories here, and it's great seeing material from that exact year on here.
For those of us who remember Disney World in the 1980's, thank you!
Thanks for the post :) A real trip down memory lane. I have not been to Disney since '93 and am now planning a trip to take my family...so much has changed. Really nice to see the WDW I remember. Cheers from Canada.
Also, I remember there being probably the biggest video arcade I'd ever seen in my life right beneath the Contemporary Resort, including games like Return of the Jedi and others. Couldn't get enough of that place. ;)
I love his soothing voice.....
This stuff is gold!
I was there in 87 👍 Great trip
it is now called Downtown Disney. Most of the original shops have long since disappeared
Great times. I have been going since the 70's
i wish they still offered tennis lessons with super8 cameras
Matt Fondacaro
Do you like Teletubbies?
This was the real WDW before Eisner and Co. ruined it. Maybe Eisner's first controversial move was the Michael Jackson movie.
This video is awesome, though. As I recall, the narrator heard here replaced a famous Disney voice in '86 or '87.
Jan 87 was my first disney trip
These videos are awesome! Thanks for sharing them. It was cool to see River Country in its heyday. And it's funny to just hear about Magic Kingdom and Epcot. Great stuff.
Grand Floridian, if I remember right, was early nineties, this is a mid eighties production.
Do you have any Disney Institute videos?
What happened to Walt Disney World Village? Does that still exist? Is it incorporated into something else now? Was the Grand Floridian not yet conceived?
HELP ME! I WASN'T BORN WHEN THIS CAME OUT!!!!!!
Yes, he ruined it by keeping the Imagineers from being fired and saving the company from a hostile take over
Not in the Magic Kingdom, but in the Disney Village Marketplace.
@etanallik
The narrator is Jack Wagner, I believe.
@roarimagirldino That resort actually became Shades of Green.
i never knew they had restaurants in the steamboat in the magic kingdom
That’s a different boat lol.
Is the Disney Inn where wilderness lodge is now??
Cute. ^_^
What is the disney village now? Saratoga springs?
Which I assume is Downtown Disney now, right?
This was when a 3 day world passport was around $70 and would never expire.
Abandoned by Disney, anyone?
