- If you go to turn on your car, and get a LOW ENGINE OIL LEVEL notification, DONT FREAK OUT!!... It's actually more common then you think. As long as you are not in the red, then all you gotta do is add 1qrt of oil to your car. It's as easy as that!!

If this happens, and you’re running 0w20, then switching to 0w30 will greatly reduce oil consumption. From a nerd who reads the manual…0w30 is recommended for spirited (drive it like you stole it) owners who like to enjoy their ultimate driving machine. 0w20 does not work as intended when the outside temperature is over 70 degrees Fahrenheit. So if you notice more bad oil consumption in summertime then BMW absolutely recommends running 0w30
If there was no such thing as CAFE standards and if 0w30 didn’t cost 1$ more per quart, then BMW’s would be factory filled with 0w30. They probably are in the rest of the world.
thanks for the video. I actually freaked out and went back to bmw as I recently purchased the car 3/4 months ago and barely drove my car twice a month, I think. They didn't know why so they just topped up 1l engine oil fr me. I thought I may have some leakage issue but glad I found this video.

not sure if all vehicles have this... the BMW X-5 actually has a hidden dip stick under the engine cover. If you can verify the actual level first before adding or draining out any oil as the oil Level sensor may be not working properly.. adding oil when the oil is already full could do damage just as draining out some to lower level.
Just happend today i baught my 2010 355is (very happy :D) and the oil sensor told me i had low oil and was in red, so i added 1 Liter of oil and than chacked and it was back at max oil.
so my question is this, why does is was saying that it had minimum oil and with just 1 liter ( the capaciti of oil is 6.5 liters on the 335is) it changed from minimum to max? should we trust the oil sensor or not?

My 2014 BMW X5 5.0i kept loosing oil. Finally, BMW had a tech service bulletin that this engine has bad valve seals. This constitutes an engine rebuild or replacement. BMW put a new engine in my X5 under warranty. Since the engine change (2-years ago), I’m getting my first oil light 💡 again, saying it needs 2-quarts of oil. 🤷♀️

How far/long you can drive on yellow warning? Let's say i don't have oil to top up and can't get it yet but still need to drive the car, what would be safe distance for me to drive before i really need to top it up ?

A few weeks ago I took in my 2016 BMW X6 to have the engine oil and brake fluid changed. Now the car is throwing this error. I added a quart but I've got to think that there's a leak. How do you mess up an oil change? Before I took the car into this shop (which has an immaculate rating) I never had any issues whatsoever.

2008 BMW X5, N52 ..oil pressure light comes up and car shuts down, check and found oil was very low, did an oil change but car still won't start after ... Any advise what could be the issue?
I bought a used 2012 x3 35i in march and had the oil changed when it was at 103k miles. The sticker my mechanic put for the next change is for 108k miles. I'm currently at around 105k miles.

Brother I have a puzzling question I have a 2008 750LI and dropped a 10 mil bit in the engine, I tried cranking it over one time and my menu is saying car not registering oil pressure, I check oil and I definitely have oil in there, BMW won’t work on cars over 10 years but I asked the same question with not much luck, do you think it won’t start because it’s recognizing the socket in there and won’t chance it flowing into a piston and really hurt the car?? Man I really need help with this one, I’ve tried everything from flexible magnets to cameras and then had the thought to just drain all the oil out and see if the bit finds it’s way out??

Morning! Apologies for the super late reply. Going around answering as many comments as possible 😁. Just been off youtube for a minute.
How low was it prior to you adding more? Was it just at yellow? Or red? If at yellow and you added 2-3 liters then thats more then required. Just to be safe, i would drain the oil out and add from scratch. Since they are digital oil read outs, its hard to really know how much is really in there. Hope that helps somehow!

don't overfill the oil you can damage the engine by doing that
You will probably freak out when you get an INCREASED BATTERY DISCHARGE notification, what means that you car's battery is dying and it is no longer able to fully recharge. In my case, it took 7 years to happen (2012 E84 X1 xdrive 2.8). And a new battery is very expensive !
At that point yeah, I probably will 😂😂😂😂
Replaced the battery that was my 2013 X5 35i 3.0 that had been there for 8 years. About $350 with parts and labor.

@@Scotford_Maconochiebattery change is extremely easy to do, just make sure to take the negative terminal off first than the positive.
And when you're reinstalling it, make sure to put the vent hose for the battery back on, and positive terminal first than the negative.
Remember red is first to come to the party, but last to leave. And black is last to come to the party and first to leave. LoL

If not than the computer will still think the new battery is the old one which will translate to your new battery being changed earlier than it should be.

M4 G82: took to dealership for routine maintenance including oil change. After over 30 min drive light went on says min engine oil level. Happened to me 2 times. First time light came on same day. Towed the car back to dealership and they filled it up. Second time light came on 2 days later. Added 2 quarts myself and measurement says just below max level. (Meaning there were approx 5 quarts left in there but the light went on) Confusing af.

How many times do u recommend we “add a quart” because I’ve added a quart probably once or twice maybe 3 times because I do a lot of driving but my oil sticker in windshield says oil not due until X amount of miles which I haven’t reached yet.
Anytime it tells you it is low, check it in your iDrive menu on the screen under service intervals. It will tell you when and if it needs oil.
Before adding oil and damage your engine make sure that the filter support is in place not missing that’s might be your issue
What is the filter support? Got a part number or location on where or what that is?
Was driving my E92 yesterday and heard something metal jangling and heard something metal fall off.
Anyways my +1 Quart light came on the next day. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Mine is popping up but when I just the level it says level ok maybe a bad sensor what say the people
mine has both the sensor and a dipstick. One time it gave me the same warning so i checked the dipstick and the level was normal. I then manually started the oil level check on the computer and it also came out normal and the warning message dissapeared. Prior to all this the car was parked on decline (front facing downhill) for like 3 hours, maybe that was the cause.

i change my engine oil for BMW730d 2008 before one month and today it says that i have to add one litre of engine oil is it burning oil? and in how long i have to add 1 litre
So mine i add 1qrt every other month or so depending on how much im driving it and how hard. Some motors tend to burn a little more oil then others. Common. Another thing could be maybe an oil leak from somewhere thts causing you to have to add more oil.

Bmw F series comes with dipstick. In the right side of the engine...... Checking oil level like real man .

The oil used might be too thin - oil viscosity (thickness) can get a little technical & it is important

It is bad because you're losing or burning oil. Adding more oil won't solve the issue for long.

What if you don’t know what oil they used to change oil?
I usually use liqui moly, but today I used Mobil 1 5W-30 fully synthetic oil, it doesn’t matter what oil brand you use i guess but as long as it’s 5W-30 Fully Synthetic and I recommend them two brands, liqui moly can be ordered online it’s made in Germany.
My car was fine prior to doing my oil change. I changed oil today and put in 5 quart and said my oil is low. I check for any leak and I have none. It said Max earlier when driving now it changed. Honestly don’t know what I did wrong

@@varinderkumar3858 Use oil that's BMW LL01 approved. Penzoil Platinum euro 5w40. That's what I use for my 2013 X5 35i xDrive. Also available at Canadian Tire and often its on sale.

My 2013 X5 35i uses 1qt of engine oil in about 5k miles and I have close to 120k miles on the clock. I use Castrol Edge 0W40. Highly recommended.

I live in Alberta and I started using Pennzoil Euro 5w40 this year on my 2017 X5 xDrive35i (I traded in my 13 X5 35i) and I seen NO oil consumption in over 8000km. For your 50i using Pennzoil Euro 5w40 is probably the best oil you can go for. It's a true synthetic with high load and temperature stabilty for the N63 that runs very hot and is also spec'd for LL01. Beside that I'm thinking to give up on Castrol Edge but I would continue to use their 0w40 for my winter oil, but again there's Mobil 1 0w40 which also very good and Pennzoil Euro 0w30 (the N55 recommends 0w30 but a 5w30, 0w40 and 5w40 will also work)
