You’ll get lots of #smallbathroom decorating ideas in this video where I share how I helped a friend give his small half-bath a makeover with a budget of only $200. You’ll see how easy it is to install a Smart Tiles peel and stick backsplash ( amzn.to/2qmoaad), and how I managed to camouflage a very dated lighting fixture with a simple DIY cover. I also made a DIY over the toilet storage cabinet and finished off the makeover with a new vanity mirror and art. The whole thing cost $189, $11 under budget, and that includes the new mirror and wall art!
Here is the cost breakdown of the makeover: (affiliate links unless stated otherwise!)
Smart Tiles (Mosaik Capri Taupe - $43) : amzn.to/2qmoaad
Light Fixture: $14
Bathroom Cabinet: Building materials - $58 Chalk paint and wax Finish $26

Dave Ramsey
same price as tile.. but tile you need more work and supplies .
Yes, these are WONDERFUL. I used them in my kitchen and it looks like a regular backsplash. (Unless you look really close, but that's just due to my work).
glad you're back you're so inspirational
seriously, you're amazing, yes I love watching you do all this- it is inspiring but I also get a lot of satisfaction watching you do it.Just brilliant- you know all the best ways of doing things - keep them coming please. Even if it's something you've shown us before, do it again in a different style, fabric- or up cycle something- thanks
I've missed your videos. Yay! More cleverness, as usual.

Love your videos! x
It looks perfect......Love it!!
I don't see any bedroom videos... DIY bedroom ideas please?
Nice update. These could be applied to a bathroom that's already in decent shape. I have 70's colored ceramic tile, colored porcelain bowls and toilets, discolored faucets and fixtures, and a vanity with peeling laminate. I probably should have skipped the video when I heard "$200". lol. What's amazing is how functional my bathrooms are after 40 years. No cracks or chips in any of the ugly tiles, no leaks or drips, everything just works. My biggest dilemma is that if I do a 'budget' remodel, I know it's not going to be nearly as durable as what I already have.
Ma’am!!!!! I have been watching your videos for the past couple days and they are so helpful! Even when they have nothing to do with any project I’m working on. Home decor videos are just lined up in my queue and I’m barely paying attention to them. So this one comes on and I look up and listen right as you talk about the front you built making your light look centered even though the actual light isn’t. And it was like 💡💡💡. I’m building a faux fireplace (I found you through your faux fireplace video) to cover my sisters existing fireplace until she can get the electric one installed, but it’s off center on the wall. And I just needed to watch this random bathroom video for it to click in my brain that I can build the faux one large enough to actually be centered! She’s going to lose it lol.
great video :) Thanks
I used these smart tiles in my 1/2 bathroom. Just like she did but without the edging. I didn't even know the edging existed. No one has ever noticed that they're not real tiles. For a small space they're awesome. Warning: measure twice cut once before you stick the tile to the wall. Once you stick they adhere quickly and have really strong grip. There is no moving them once stuck. They will rip the paint off your walls.
I love how you think outside of the box. Want a challenge? Here it is, i rent and have the smallest walk in closet you could imagine. Promlem #1 the owner installed those wire shelves so im unable to slide my clothes when looking for something to wear and it makes hanging things up a pain in the butt. Problem 2; dear god my shoes! I have those shoe things that you can hang but it only accomodates like 8 pairs of shoes, seriously? My shoes are all over my closet floor. I could get a basket but wouldnt it be awesome to somehow utilize the ceiling space and somehow hang my shoes from the ceiling? Its such waisted space. So what do you think? I have faith in you to figure out my closet dilemma
Love what you did,, artistic, cheap, more upscale. Maybe it's me but I think the shelving over the toilet is too clunky. Everything else has a lighter feel. But, you deserve a thumbs up.
Wow, call me impressed. I am subscribing today! You took a boring bathroom and really made it look clean and sophisticated.
Your instructions, were clear and concise and would make even the most unskilled among us feel like we could do this..including me!
looks beautiful on youtube. . but not much closely. . of course you are poor. .. what you expect.
we missed you!
YEAH!!! YOUR BACK!!!!
I loved this!! I wanted to try and make the light fixture but I'm scared of using command strips, is there a special kind I should get?
I absolutely love this channel!!! 😀😀 Lady fixers and builders ROCK!!!
I need to find some of those edges, it'll make my kitchen's backsplash look better. We used the stick on stuff for a quick and cheap look change, but the edges of it look awful.
How long did they tiles stay stuck? I used them in my bathroom and they began to peel off the wall taking the paint with them even after cleaning and prepping the wall before sticking them on.
Wow, what a difference! Great job!
Love your videos!
Damn girl you are great with hand tools !!! The bathroom looks great !!! New subbie here !!!
Can i ask? Is it possible to use the wallpaper sticker or something you used for the bathroom wall on Tiles? Will the grouting be an issue?
If you had a bigger budget what would you have done with the lighting fixture? Really curious - thx!
Ok I need a new look to my half bath, which is my bathroom of the household. Oh this has my wheels in my brain turning.
I will be using your lighting trick. my light is off center and it really annoys me. Thanks
love this,I wish you could come over and help me,😊
Why not spend as much time in the video on the cabinet as the sticky stuff? I know how to stick stuff to a wall, but building a cabinet would need some more explanation. I know it's sponsored, but that doesn't mean that the other DIY's are not worth time in the video...
can. You do an episode staining wood like what you briefly showed here on shelves?
wouldn't it be easier to start with the small tie in the corner? You only would have to cut the last tile and it would't be so tricky in the end?
You are the best🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
i was gonna say...yuck to the backsplash until she finished it. nice!
You are so talented, love your ideas and all is so well explained
Is there a reason that the edging that you used was not put around the whole tile pattern but only on two sides? Genuine question.
This is a fabulous remodel! Wanna come to my house & do your magic?
Isabel, I miss your videos. Are you doing another video project? I hope you're okay.
Great ideas!
Good tip on peeling back only a few inches of the tiles backing up at a time.
would the peel and stick tile be a option for a renter? can it be removed?
Yes. They are easy to remove with little to no damage, depending on the surface they were installed on. To make it easy, use a blow dryer to warm up each tile to soften the adhesive and pull softly starting with the corners. Use a cleaning product to wash the wall and remove any excess glue left by the Smart Tiles.
Is that just a sticker pretending to be a tile?
Its a great amazing. Where I can buy the smart tiles to order???
You’re amazing! Thanks for this 👍🏻
nice. big like
Someone know where I can bay that tipe the paper? Maybe on internet some link.
Smart lady!!!
You never cease to amaze me. Under 200, outstanding
very very helpful thank you so much 😊😊😊😊
Love what you did. The only thing I might have some differently is, to have continued the backsplash around the corner of the vanity. But that's just a thought. Again, love what you did, and the name for sharing your tips. ☺
A budget bathroom makeover that is actually budget friendly and looks amazing!! HALLELUJAH!
This woman know how to do everything. So glad you are teaching individuals like myself how to create and makeover great ideas, to save and keep money in our pocket for other emergency things. Thank you so very much. I plan to learn a lot from your work.
Bonus if you bargain with the store or shop owner for a lower price
your work are amazing, I really admire your creativity
awesome
the 189 dollars included the new mirror as well?
You took a boring bathroom and made it incredible!!!
Awesome!
Very nice! and on a small budget too.
Wow you are so awesome. Smart choices, great eye, fabulously inexpensive. I love this bathroom.
Tried making that light fitting. Even though I used velcro for 16lbs, it fell after less than 8 hours.
Glad you are back. I have missed your videos.
You're so clever! I do enjoy your videos and that you not only come up with great ideas but, on a budget I can handle! More please!!!!
A little greenery makes such a huge difference. Loved the DIY light solution! Very clever.
Hi I'm staying in a Aprtment and I want to decorate my bathroom. If I use the tile. Is it removable without damaging the wall?
wooow!!!! I like every change you made.
Great solutions! I just have added a piece of trim on the tile at the other end adjacent to the wall; would make a nicer framing of the back splash.
Hello! Will the smart tiles stick to a wall with a little texture?
Love it great job!!!!
You're a Life-Saver! Greetings from Germany
Incredible & super useful ideas! Loving it!
