1:39 I really don’t understand why you continuously repeating the same mistakes in many of your videos..?? Why you call Mosaddegh government in Iran, a democratically elected…? It wasn’t… he was a prime minister selected by the Emperor of Iran and was kicked out by him according to the constitution of Iran then…But Mosaddegh tried to stage a coup against the shah with the help of clergy and USSR that was initially successful but after the coup he dismantled the parliament and the judiciary and wanted to start his own dictatorship that with the help of the US money, all the same clergy that initially supported him, all the members of parliament, the generals that didn’t want him as their new leader, and judges, he was kicked out eventually…!! In the Iranian constitution of the time, Shah selects and kicks out the prime ministers not election..!! Mosaddegh himself was against the elections since the constitutional revolution during the dynasty before Pahlavi…

When one loses blood, the first one to be sucked is an ally. Even rabbits won't eat the grass next to their nest. It seems that some people have no intention of considering it for a long time
Honestly, as a Russian, I am very skeptical of this and believe that this 'New cold war' topic is inflated. I mean, the world is too globalized and interdependent right now. In the real cold war time, there was virtually no trade and closed borders between two blocks and now more than half of China's trade is with the West and vice versa. Every political move discussed is in my view hypocritical, since everyone keeps trading with everyone regardless of these 'alliances'. And that Brics are developing a new currency is just laughable, they aren't even an alliance (SA's president was to arrest Putin if he comes)
Even in the original cold war there was some trade and relations between the blocks. Maybe not for the people, but for the governments and the powerful at least. The interdependency is keeping things from collapsing, but we see in the last years that the new blocks are trying to cut this dependency. But at the end of the day, global politics is just the result of thousands of small decision by people with conflicting interests, who will cooperate for some time if it helps them all.
Too right. The idea BRICS could compete with the G7 is complete delusion. China and India being best friends, South Africa a growing economy. Lol next joke
Also from ideological point of view, China or Russia don't provide any solid and self-sufficient ideology or vision of better future as Soviet Union did. Economic growth of these countries was nurtured and empowered by the West, and politically China and Russia are way too corrupt and unripe compared to Western Democracies. Thus, to call it a new bipolar world is exaggerated. Most countries still see democracy as their ideal and only lean towards the East in some specific matters.

I just feel like compared to G7, BRICS still have a far way to go, Russia is entwined in a war, India and China still have trash relations with border issues, Brazil and South Africa aren't the booming tigers they were 20 years back and showed signs of slowing down
You're correct about BRICS, but damn, as a South African it bugs me that it's the only country you didn't capitalise in your comment lol. The economy, due to a incompetent and corrupt political party, is in massive decline...but we still deserve an upper case 'S' :p

There's a lot to be said for old school effects and other "old school" additives/techniques that went underappreciated and have slowly become lost in the modern media landscape. Slowly we're learning why they were so good and ubiquitous to begin with. Look at the cinema. It's the one place where many young people including myself and even some of the older generations might listen to a piece of really traditional classical music without even noticing it, because it just works!

We’ve been in a new Cold War for several years at this point. Considering trade wars and militarization of the South China Sea, things could and likely will get significantly more serious. The Cold War with the USSR has a debated start date, and this one will too when we look back on it.

8:00 BRICS is not some rival to the West or NATO. To make a single currency or military alliance between such disparate far-flung countries would take a lot more unity and mutual co-operation than these states are capable of. The EU is geographically and culturally linked through their proximity to one another and even they haven't managed to spread the Euro to all members, or establish a formal alliance that isn't NATO. China and India are always skirmishing over their border, Russia's a global pariah, and South Africa is nearly a failed state that recently threatened to arrest Putin if he stopped by for the BRICS summit. NATO they ain't. And a mutual trade currency can't have garbage economies attached to it (South Africa, arguably Russia). Look what Greece did to the Eurozone.

A rare Johhny article i vehemently disagree with. The BRICS currency is not realistic or close to coming to fruition (and many of the countries don't get alone), China's economic power is in decline as it's cost goes up and countries look internally after Covid, and their population is aging rapidly and will weaken both their economy and their military. We are moving into a world more akin to the 18th and 19th centuries, when the idea of balance of power was taken more seriously. You can’t just expect one country to set the global rules anymore.
Ideologically US and most of the non-aligned countries are very different. If US not only want them allied with them but also want them to follow all their ideologies, then China will definitely get the upper hand with transactional alliance based on benefits without any need to change their ideologies.
That's true, but there is a long game the US can look forward to. That is 'universal values', the values that will develop naturally as nations get more educated and wealthier. Unless these third world countries go down the path of North Korea, and strictly keep their people perpetually poor and uneducated. Do we have to constantly think about things with a "war" mindset? China is pursuing its own economic interests but doesn't want to actually have a conflict with the US - and has stated so multiple times. From what I've seen, this "new cold war" language mainly comes from the US side. Are countries allowed to pursue economic projects independent from the US, without this being classified as being a "war"? I think people are willing a war into existence where there needn't be one.
That is exactly what this video was addressing because basically the US says if you do not follow my rules and my floss optical principles, you are waging war with me and that is where the issue comes into play and that is what they're trying to fall as a group
It was pretty much the US that created this "everything is a war" mindset. And as US economy needs to be based on sanctions, and an eventual new currency won't allow that, united states will have to fight that as their economic system will eventually collapse.
Great analysis. Just one thing to add. India isn't peaking sides not so that we can benefits from both China and US. Infact we are still military confrontation along the border area with China. So not planning to benefit from China at the very least. Now coming to our engagement with the US. India doesn't approach US so that we can get some aid like Pakistan. Infact we are the fastest growing economy this year. And due to our population size, we are to a large extent independent economically because our own consumer market can ensure economic growth. US India engagement is just because of the fact that we both have common rival and that will be China. So it pretty much serves mutual interest
Whilst I agree with your points on India not approaching the US for aid, it's far too simplistic atm to say that India is only engaging with the US for 'mutual interests'. There has been a slew of investment from American companies as of late, with billions of dollars to flow into the country. Whilst this is probably also to benefit the US, the 'de-risking' of US's dependence on China is leading to a great deal of advantages for India. The role of the Quad can't be understated as well. So yes, while India is looking after their own interests especially with China's looming presence, it's too simplistic to say that it's 'just because we have a common rival'. India and the US agree on many frontiers and it seems likely to grow in the near future.

As a South African, we are much more culturally aligned with the West, however, economically, we are much more aligned with China. As a chilean, i'm glad to see the superpowers to fight each other on trade mainly. While the mayority of our history we depended on one foreign superpower (Spain during the colony, the UK in the 1800s, and the US in the 1900s), today we can trade with all the major actors, and progress and advance with liberty to trade with the ones we wish and decide to trade, regardless what the "superpower" at the moment can dictate.
It is very astute of you to recognize this. Your understanding of Chile's history paints a clear picture that the current world order is "the best it ever has been" for the majority of the Western and developing world. While this US has been overly aggressive in many places over the decades, the system that it upholds allows nations, that would not normally have a chance, to trade with one another.
@@tiagogomes3807 I think its important to point out that this wasn't the case in before WW1, Britain and the US maintained an exclusivity with trade in the Western hemisphere. After the cold war this has been a status quo largely out of lack of vision on what to do next and a domestic politics that is allergic to any coercive foreign policy that doesn't show clear benefits to global security. I think this conflict is going to be way more of an us vs them like it was in the Cold War. Russia and India will both play significant roles and both have very different ideologies than both the and China. Japan is also diverting from its past if it’s nature and many European countries have long since decolonized but are forming new relationships that include trade and diplomacy to their former colonies. It will be very interesting
I don’t think ideology is gonna matter much more in this new Cold War like it did in the previous one. If you notice, China and Russia have very different ideologies but similar interests (which will be the theme of the new Cold War). The US needs to stop forcing everyone to be democratic and start pursuing its national interests on a new level. If you want to be successful in this new Cold War, you need to focus on nationalism being the only theme in your country (so no globalism) and shared interests and objectives with your allies.
I am an Indian who watches all of the videos uploaded in the Johnny Harris YT channel and I really appreciate your work and strive for bringing out real world issues and wars we never see in news tabloids. But whenever it comes to Geopolitics videos, we always see China and USA and Russia behind China. But there is not a single one of your 239 videos solely dedicated to the country of India, the world's fastest growing country in the world. Under the leadership of PM Modi, India is rapidly improving infra, and the world's largest start-up ecosystem, along with massive software companies like Infosys and TCS based in more than 50 countries. Many westerners have an impression of India as a poor and very cheap country, basically a bad impression, But under BJP (ruling party), we are soon going to pass Germany and Japan to be the third largest economy with a gdp of 10 trillion by 2030. I really want you to write this tremendous success story in a positive way to change India's image among the western world, and India is actually portrayed as the major leader and representative of the global south. @JohnnyHarris
Trust me, as a European, no one is seeing India as a poor country. We generally have a really good postive view of India. Would be nice to have a video tho, since I would like to learn more about India!
Yea no one really sees India as a poor country anymore. No offense but the amount of Indians coming to America and having entire neighborhoods in the south is crazy! They live lavishly and people consider them smart. But I would love a video on Indias tremendous growth & economy.
delusional nationalist, modi has ravaged the Indian economy by excess taxation on the middle class and only helped his billionaire friends like Adani. World's largest startup ecosystem are in usa and china, who said it is in India?
I appreciate how you didn't automatically lean towards one side, how you showed nuance when presenting the different ideologies, you don't see that many sources these days unbiased to such a degree. I have seen info, sources, articles from both the western and occidental sides, and yours is one of the most neutral I've seen so far.
Great video! I’d love to see an extended video about global alliances and how they’ve evolved over the last three centuries, including more about BRICS. You are doing really great work, thank you! I’ve been talking to family and loved ones about your channel. Encouraging them to watch your content instead of the nightly “news.” Much more reliable, informative, and thought provoking. Thanks for all you do!
Its a complicated order where one caveat is that bunch of countries not going along with the US does not equal them being together against the US. Its super easy for alliances on weak foundations to break and while countries like China and India may not necessarily like the US, it would be a shock if they get along with each other as well.
The issue with China is the heavy focus on nationalism. It's been difficult for them to make real allies because of that. For example, they refuse to concede on their South China Sea claim. And they are still in conflict with India over border disputes. Depending on how the Ukraine war goes, they may be less likely to be as nice to Russia
Love the way you tell stories man. Really inspires me. I hope that I can get as good at telling stories as you someday. I'm just about to launch my own animated channel finally. Very excited.
Regarding India, they’re leveraged by Russia due to previously purchasing military equipment that only Russia has replacement parts for. If India cuts off Russia, Russia stops sending India the parts needed to maintain things such as parts for their fighter jets. This puts India in the predicament that could be exploited by China and Pakistan who already have border conflicts with this country.
That's why India started building own weapons and some how signing MoUs with different countries for technology. Like US just gave jet engine technology for fighter jets. It gonna replace Mig 21 soon with indigenous fighter jet.
India Russia partnership is much much deeper than weapons. It's not about weapons alone. However, as far as future is concerned. India-Russia relationship is not in good shape. India needs USA and Russia needs China.
Very good video. It’s scary when the “big names” we throw at the problem are all seemingly incompetent though. We lose our place as global currency and we are in deep trouble. Our most recent regime changes seem to be for sport, which really could motivate other countries if you think about it.
Once you started imposing your ideology on others it was the beginning of the end. History has taught that since the beginning of time, once you force others into something, it’s a matter of time before you see the people you forced revolt against you. Even if people don’t like China, it’s the lesser evil and people will gladly switch sides.
No body wants to take on the global currency because no one wants to run budget deficits. If china were to run budget deficits, their manufacturing would be lost and hold no value. They don’t want to lose that. The dollar, for now, is safe.

Hey man, loved the presentation style and storytelling. Quite engaging. But there’s still a long way to go for it to be called a “journalistic piece” imho. For eg. the Chinese debt trap narrative has been debunked quite comprehensively by a lot of researchers and nations themselves. Or for eg. when you say india is buying half its oil and weapons from Russia, it comes across as if that is a result of the war. But in fact Russia - India relations go all the way back to India’s independence and the reason India trades with Russia is because the west had sanctioned India for the most part of history. There’s more like this. But I’d say these details matter more than the presentation style. You guys have already nailed that.
He didn't exactly use the word debt trap, to be fair. And also, it's not entirely false to say China will use the debt as leverage, but what is missing is that western countries have done that for decades. IMF have plenty of loans, US using the monetary system and financial system has control over most of the world (SWIFT banking, for example that they kicked Russia out of). These are all leverages
Great video! I especially love the animation in this video. Whit such a complex topic this would be way harder to absorb (and less entertaining) without the pedagogical animations! I noticed that Sweden was categorized as a neutral country. I would like to ad that Sweden is far from a neutral country in this conflict. We were (at least in theory) a neutral country up until recently. But Sweden is heavily influenced by European policy, have openly been criticizing the BRICS countries for years as well as supporting Ukraine both military and economically in recent times. Our upcoming NATO membership is just the final step that puts our “neutrality” to rest. We have now sided, also in practice. And the first video on SP was awesome btw!!
That’s not entirely true. Whenever he makes a video he talks overly positive of China and negative of the USA. He’s not really presenting a neutral point.
All wars are fought over resources. Long story short, if war is cheaper than trade then war becomes a likely outcome. Mankind will only work together if we find aliens to go to war against; especially if they find us first.

LGBT on the surface is for human rights, in fact, the United States to break the traditional cultural cognitive psychology brought by new immigrants, while destroying the traditional education of other civilized countries, after all civilization and culture are destroyed, it is easier to control the mind, a video can make people believe that a country that has not been at war for 40 years is an aggressor
12:56 The US Treasury secretary just prohibited/restricted US investments in Chinese entities in three sectors: semiconductors and microelectronics, quantum information technologies and certain artificial intelligence systems. Everything aligns perfectly, like clockwork.
The west has become completely complacent not really caring about countries outside of their alliance. China, despite their motives, have done a lot to make the world a more economical and better place for the majority of people to live by funding these international infrastructure projects. They focused on their own country, made it a superpower, and now is doing the same to underdeveloped countries. Overall, this Chinese influence will make the world much more advanced and make every country become modernized, but this could have been done by the West if they did not become completely butcher their head start. China's strategy the past couple decades have been ingenious to say the least and the west is only starting to realize that now.
What a lot of people don't want to admit or accept is that there will always be a hegemony in the world. It's the cruel truth of human nature. The only thing we can to do is decide which country's philosophy that we agree more with.
Has someone got balls to arrest Putin?😂😂
Too right. The idea BRICS could compete with the G7 is complete delusion. China and India being best friends, South Africa a growing economy. Lol next joke
As long as China and Russia lose, I'm fine with whatever order.

@@matthewhearn9497As a Brazillian i think Brazil would probably be an neutral country, as it is dependent mostly on China, but also the US
@@matthewhearn9497 Brazil doesn't really need a military alliance with any country. That said, both the US and China are important trade partners. It is worth pointing out that to a certain extent those two giants also depend on Brazil for trade.
The US diplomatically supports Brazilian Democracy but doesn't do enough economically which is where China & BRICS step in.
Brazil is a messed up country that nobody is jealous of which side they take
A rare Johhny article i vehemently disagree with. The BRICS currency is not realistic or close to coming to fruition (and many of the countries don't get alone), China's economic power is in decline as it's cost goes up and countries look internally after Covid, and their population is aging rapidly and will weaken both their economy and their military. Saying it's a new cold war is a glitzy headline, and China has gotten way stronger and more economically involved with it's neighbors the last 20 years, but saying they will truly compete with the United States in the near future is simply false and overlooking the reality of the situation
We are moving into a world more akin to the 18th and 19th centuries, when the idea of balance of power was taken more seriously. You can’t just expect one country to set the global rules anymore.
Let's hope not. After all, that ended with WW1 and WW2.

This is also brewing inside China and Russia as their educated Middle class are increasingly unhappy with how things are going. Brain drain and disloyalty from the middle class will hurt them bad.

Look at the "lie flat" and the "let it rot" movements inside China. These are all new sparks that the Chinese civilization never had before it came into contact with universal values.
The US wants to remain on top and will persecute anyone Who threatens The US empire just by growing and choosing to play by its own rules
That’s the point. They’re not if it replaces the US dollar
Make love!! No war!!
India is not the fastest growing economy. India's 5% gdp growth rate is still much lower than China or US's 4% gdp growth rate.
@dodododododododo8216 Keep yourself updated with latest data.
Jai Shree Ram❤
Yeah and also QUAD

They are using World War II era tanks and after a year and a half don't even have any substantial air superiority. Russia doesn't have a blue water navy and their airlift capability is lacking. We have the best blue water navy in the world and have the best airlift capability ever seen. We have bases all over the world which gives us a huge leg up. They have a lot of oil but what innovations do they create that help humanity? Russian women are lined up to marry American men so that they can come here and escape that backward, second rate country that is run by a tin pot dictator.
All of the Chinese military which we hear so much about is stolen American technology that isn't being perfected like the way that we do it. China has an excellent area of denial capability, but we have a wartime reserve capability that hasn't been seen yet and hopefully won't be needed. Also, China doesn't have any recent combat experience which plays a huge role in military effectiveness. We have many decades worth of combat experience.

@@aurele2 sadly people actually think America is a democracy. the founding fathers would be rolling in there graves right now if they saw what was happening, we are a constitutional republic.
I just hope my country (New Zealand) can be the voice of reason and ensure peace continues between the bigger countries. War does not benefit anyone, except the military industrial complex.
bro the majority of people forget to even out new Zealand on a map. it's not gonna end this cold war
War benefits the aggressor when they think their opponent is weak. They see Democracy as weak. I think you should get ready for you and your children to spend most of their years in uniform.
So, maybe, NZ could be ONE OF the voices of reason - together, at example, with Italy and EU - and ensure for peacekeeping.

What happened to the mormon video im about 2minutes before it got deleted
Korrekt! 👏
Sweden was neutral with COVID-19, but decided in 2021 they were gonna lockdown people and shops as well.
Not sure you can call it a cold war when NATO and Russia are both fighting in Ukraine. 😢
Yeah, I mean, the first cold War had A LOT of fighting too
The Mormon vid is still on Nebula if you guys have that.
Do you think he moved it to be a nebula exclusive?
If I had to guess I recon it got copyright striked by LDS for the clips he used. It will probably get reuploaded to YT with those clips edited out.
Johnny, I love and respect your channel. You have some of the most realistic and truth in every video you make. Respect.
That’s not entirely true. Whenever he makes a video he talks overly positive of China and negative of the USA. He’s not really presenting a neutral point.
He talks overly negatively of China and positively of the USA, I think. Lots of lies about China.@@maka6134
I hope we all make it, there's no reason any country has to lose when we can all win
All wars are fought over resources. Long story short, if war is cheaper than trade then war becomes a likely outcome. Mankind will only work together if we find aliens to go to war against; especially if they find us first.
Don’t forget the psychological war on the internet aimed at all of us.
So China chose to regulate the Internet and not be induced by rumors. LGBT on the surface is for human rights, in fact, the United States to break the traditional cultural cognitive psychology brought by new immigrants, while destroying the traditional education of other civilized countries, after all civilization and culture are destroyed, it is easier to control the mind, a video can make people believe that a country that has not been at war for 40 years is an aggressor
yup. put your phone down for a week and youll feel the difference right away
WTF, we(Pakistan) are on the verge of default and he put in the Top Economies of the world, you cant be serious
Indian here . We still believe Pakistan is relevant and all potential to grow " but " not with full control of Army establishment that we see now
I like how humans always advances through technology but humans themselves never advance
This was a very good video. Genuinely one of the best impartial breakdowns of modern geopolitics I’ve seen in a while. 👍👍👍
It was pretty partial to China…
lol this is like a commercial for china that overlooks a ton vital facts
@haloxd7 China has so much money for advertising? people there are poor lol
“There are two ways to conquer and enslave a nation. One is by the sword. The other is by debt.”
― John Adams 1826
12:56 The US Treasury secretary just prohibited/restricted US investments in Chinese entities in three sectors: semiconductors and microelectronics, quantum information technologies and certain artificial intelligence systems.
Everything aligns perfectly, like clockwork.
Us citizens of the world need to eliminate our “leaders” who could care less about us. Just who do they think they are.
Personally, I'm on the side of democracy/capitalist society because historically it has allowed more people to lift themselves out of poverty and less oppression.

They are not talking about creating their own currency, as per vice president of the Development Bank. Also, loans through the belt and road initiatives are already like 60% failed. Italy is gonna withdraw this year and most countries aligning with BRICS right now are in default
They will do it eventually even if it literally isn't right now
@@akidnamedryan4758 Why? It doesn't make necessarily sense. The west isn't doing it
Your final statement of 'most countries aligning with BRICS right now are in default' is grossly incorrect. I'd like you to raise which country is in default as, from my knowledge, none of these countries currently are in this state. I may be wrong, but please cite your sources.
