NHS Chief Executive Amanda Pritchard caught up with Steph, a sickle cell advocate to reflect on their initial conversation a year ago, and delve deeper into the strides made in sickle cell care over the last year.
Thousands of people with sickle cell are set to benefit from new hyper acute units that will provide specialist support and care. These new units will offer an alternative way to access quick treatment when in crisis. People with sickle cell will also be eligible for a patient card to identify them as requiring urgent treatment.
