Very good review, especially from a veteran photographer! This was actually my first DSLR, purchased in 1986. Recently, I've wanted to get back into analog photography, observing my surroundings and experiencing life in a slower way. Your review has certainly given me the confidence to do so. Thank you very much!

Similar to the Ricoh (which now owns Pentax) range. Great beginners/students choice for learning the basics.

    Small update:
I'm now getting a Cosina CT-1super myself in the next week or two, but the export version Revue SC4-m (the silver version). In black it would be the Revue SC4.
I'm already looking forward to being able to test the camera and, if it works completely, to being able to take it home for €30. 🙂

Sounds nice, it's still one of my favorite old SLRs. Good luck with it.

      Thank you. 🙂
Then I have added up a total of 7 mechanical lenses with those included in the Revue SC$-m and have a large spectrum from 16 mm fisheye to 500 mm mirror telephoto lens. 😉

@@SchwarzPoet Wow, I have a 500 mirror lens, but my widest is a 24mm. Good range you have there 🙂

My 16mm fisheye lens is the Zenitar K 2.8 / 16mm MC, which I bought almost 20 years ago for less than 100€ ;) and the other lenses I've bought in the last 20 years are also very brilliant, in my opinion.
      - Tokina RMC 2.8 / 28mm
      - Revuenon MC 1.2 / 55mm
      - Auto Revuenon Multi Coated 2.8 / 135mm
      - Sigma Mirror Telephoto Multi Coated 8.0 / 500mm
And the Revue SC4-m would also be included:
      - Auto Revuenon 2.8 / 28mm
      - Auto Revuenon 2.8 / 135mm
      without multi-coating.
But at 30€ including flash unit and leather camera bag, you can't say anything, even if the focal lengths are now double and if necessary you can resell them without multi-coating. 😉

I picked up my Revue SC4-m today and checked it on site and what can I say ... Everything, absolutely everything works and the camera looks like new. Even the Metz clip-on flash works perfectly. So I can finally shoot with my K-mount lenses again. I'll be curious to see how the Cosina CT-1super export version performs. In any case, it fits comfortably in the hand, is nice and light and very pleasant to use. If the results are right, I'll be more than happy and for just €30 with a flash, three single-coated lenses and an original leather camera bag from Revue. 😁

Excellent. I have an old, 1984, Minolta 7000 - the thing is totally dead, but I keep it for sentimental reasons. If it can be fixed, one day I might try a film in it !!!
    Thank you for this video

My Olympus 2000 is pretty much this camera with the OM bayonet and Copal Square shutter i think. Very reliable.

I wasn't aware they made this for Olympus as well, thanks for the information. I have followed that information and read about it, amazing that this Cosina came out by so many brands. That talks for the reputation of the Cosina brand among the well known brand names.

@@key2adventure Sadly they were not able to replicate the nice bright viewfinder of the OM series. But very well built otherwise, actually better than the originals IMO.

Was using mine until it made a whirring noise and now it’s stuck I can’t take a picture? Some advice will be appreciated. I feel like there’s some procedure when that happens but I’m not sure

I haven't had this issue with any of the 3 cameras, that I have, and I haven't heard of it before, so unfortunately no easy fix to my knowledge. Luckily, they are still cheap on the used market, if you want another.

    Battery is a 1.35v or a 1.5v?

    • @key2adventure
      @key2adventure  11 місяців тому +1

Although it is said that the battery has to be the old 1.3, I find it works just fine with newer 1.5v batteries.

Weird. I tried a 1.5v LR55. The needle was erratic.
Tried a 675 1.4v and it works better.
Does your meter work better outside? Seems unrealble indoors.

      ...
Your video helped provoked me to research more about this model. Cosina was making this general SLR chasis up until 2017.
They made it for nearly every company. Even Nikon and Canon bought these and slapped their brand on them. It's a chapter in SLR history that is eclipsed by the digital migration. Cosina made more of this base unit than Pentax's K1000!
If people are looking for a modern mechanical SLR, they should consider this one. The tech at the end of an era are typically the best. The plastic exterior is its shortcoming.
The Vivitar V3800N was made up until 2012! It used the Cosina base hardware and updated the meter display to numbering and made it more ergonomic. I am considering cashing out my collection and buy a load of these (for future proofing)
