Fun fact: if you scratch where you colored with a penny/key somthing it gets rid of the grainy look and looks really good
i ate my dinner while watching this and it enhanced the flavour from how good it was
Something you can do to blend or get rid of the white spots with crayons is to heat them up with a hairdryer then blend them with a q-tip, hope that helps! ;3 💛💛

I’ve used crayons, you can use the white crayon to blend and if you press harder then it will be darker so yeah
Also if you use your nail to scratch the waxy stuff off it will be lighter

You missed out on the whole Dandelion yellow crayon era. To avoid the little white gaps and all the waxy colored balls that the crayons leave behind color lightly with them like barely touch the page with the tip and build up color with layers. Also you can put down layers of color with the crayons and then use pencil crayons on top of them.

Crayons are like oil pastels and you can rub a tissue paper or the paper after colouring it with crayons to get a smooth texture
I’ve used Crayola Air-Dry clay for two sculpture projects and it held up pretty well if you know how to fill in the cracks. Their adult colored pencils for coloring book artists are pretty solid too

quick tip: you can get anything that you can scrape stuff with and scrape the crayons of it lightens the color but it also smooths it out i started doing it and it a very good tip, hope this helps

3:33 if you want to fix the problem of your head blocking the camera, you can set up the camera in front of you on your desk facing down at the paper. It will film what you're doing upside down, and then you can flip it in editing :)
Crayons work better on non-textured paper I think. Also we can't really expect smooth blending or layering from them, I think they would work with a more scratchy line-y style. Just my thoughts I've never tried using crayons past grade school 😭
Crayon (new) user here lmao. Whenever I use crayons for drawing and coloring some stuff, people around me always say that Why am I using crayons, it's only for kids LOL. I love using crayons, It's messy like oil pastel, but I can freely draw anything with crayons because for me oil pastel is intimidating to me because I need to make a good art lololol

Tip: after you color with crayons you can scrape off the extra wax from the paper so you’re left with just the color! After that you can add more layers or do whatever

Echo Gillette has a really good crayon tutorial in her channel. Maybe they her technique I think she said it helped with the waxiness.
Real Crayola artist as kids know if u scratch the top layer of wax on top of the paper makes it more smooth and better to layer (also it gets rid of the wax texture) 😛

You should totally try new techniques in a new video, there is many tutorials but ones that i remember now are scrapping the crayons of the paper with a palette knife, the texture comes from the wax fillers to make the product more cheaper, if you scrape the excess it will light up the color a bit but gets rid of the extra wax, then you can layer more making look more rich, also i am pretty sure i saw some artists let the drawing in a warm place so the crayons kind of melt and get more smooth ? ANYWAYS Crayola crayons can look professional if u add the techniques to it but straight up using them also fulfills the whimsical feel u were going for
As a wild blind guess maybe the waxiness is on purpose so children can go all out on the outlines... I know as a little brat I had no patience for coloring in and no concept of blending so...
