Sorry I’ve been gone for so long. To be honest with everyone, I had another major loss in my immediate family this year. I’ve been in therapy and deeply mourning since the middle of the year. I’ve never been with someone while they were passing away and it affected me to an inconceivable level. On top of that, this year I was already taking it slow but losing someone was the final blow…but Finally after months I’m getting back into the groove and I’m emotionally ready to put my all into creating video’s again. This video I am so proud of. I put my all into it and I hope you all enjoy!!! Let’s all end this last part of the year out with a bang!! 🎉
I'm so sorry for your loss and I'm glad you got to be with them before they passed. I keep wishing one of my sisters will step up and spend some time with me while I go through chemo and battle my demons, but I go alone every time. I think most regular people don't have it in them to watch another not do so great. Stay strong and take care of yourself. We'll be here.
I have to drop in to say: My 4 year old is OBSESSED with this video. He asks for it multiple times a day. He wants me to take him to the art store to buy "every Crayola crayon". He wants to swatch. He wants to organize. It is precious. Thank you.
We're exhausted just watching, but wow! We had flashbacks of coloring when we were little, pushing the very limits of wax crayons to make what we were sure was going to be the greatest work of art ever created! Amazing depth of color considering wax crayons load up the paper surface rather quickly. Huge respect for the level of difficulty, and extra points for not cheating using solvents or anything to modify the natural working properties. Beautiful!
I am now jealous of the fact that Rae has a 240 tub of crayons. Also, imagine a child in her studio seeing all her crayons. It would literally feel like heaven
I am now resisting the urge to buy a 240 pack of crayons. Also, as a math teacher thank you for showing me that dry-erase crayons exist. That will help a LOT with younger children.
Also a math teacher here! The dry erase crayons are great but they need a lot of pressure and can be difficult to erase. I use water and a microfiber cloth to prevent scuffing the dry erase board.
The twistable crayons are so revolutionary TBH, if Crayola made all of its products in that style, they might be my absolute go to. Like, can you imagine their skin color variety as those twistables? No risk of snapping like the crayons, no need to sharpen like the pencils... Ugh, the only thing better would be having their entire color selection in fine tip markers.
Hi!! I want you to know you never have to apologize for being absent! We all understand, take time for yourself girl ❤️ I just found you a month ago, and wow I’m so obsessed with your challenges and drawings. You’re amazing! Keep it up girl ! ❤️❤️
WOW!!! As I was cleaning up my pinterest boards, I came across one of your art hack videos and got hooked which lead me to this video. My last box of crayola was bought for my now 21 year old grandson and was also loved by his younger siblings. Now I am just awaiting for my 1 and 2 year old grandsons to come and make use of them!! I never imagined there could be so many different crayola crayons! You certainly provided some valuable insight into them. Your drawing is absolutely awesome!!!! Love it! Thank you for doing the challenge, and now I am off to your next video!!
I am so, so sorry you’ve had such a tough year. You’re a strong woman. I truly am glad you’re using your art and videos to help you heal. Thank you for sharing your talents and your heart.
Never put your life on pause for content creation, it's a soul sucking enough job already. I can't imagine how crushing it must've felt to go through all that but please know that it's okay to take your time, even if you feel like you're ready to do some things, you may not be ready for others, and that's okay. We can all wait. Much strength Rae
The confetti style crayons are one of my *favorite* because they crate a really cool layer and had a lot of different color combos. I should mention that I taught art to elementary school kids and showed them how to layer and scratch colors to make new colors and textures. You didn't feature what those new crayons-but-not-crayons were, though, like describing how they were actually different.... another video maybe? The final result was awesome :D
all I can say is wow. Never apologize for taking care of yourself because no one else is going to do that for you. I totally understand why you needed to step back, I just went through a similar situation with losing my dad, just three weeks ago. I am sorry for your loss. Don't put to much pressure on yourself and go at your own pace. Your followers will still be here.
Hi, Rae! You kind of single-handedly kickstarted me back into liking to make art again, so I just wanted to thank you. I'm currently trying out paints and I think I'm liking gouache and acrylics the most, but am slowly getting the hang of oil paints. Thanks for being an awesome content creator and reminding me of how much fun this kind of thing can be!
Love you donate to local schools. Honestly I am a little jealous my school is oceans away. Know that you will be a hero to those students and teachers.
Rae your artwork is so amazing in the fact that you do this for four days straight just for the sake of people who want to see it is AMAZING I love when you challenge yourself that’s what makes you you and you’re so strong and push through it
I’ve had the twistable crayons before. Cant say they were my favorite. They were always breaking and the tips were just too large. The colors looked weird kinda. You really made them work!
I just have to say I really enjoy the music you pick out for the sped up sections. Also I loveee how vibrant and colorful it turned out. It works so well for the piece!
❤ Thanks for coming back Rae. I checked daily in hopes you’d post and figured something personal was going on. My heart is with you and you are in my thoughts and prayers.
OMG THIS IS GORGEOUS! I cant believe you produced such an incredible work of art with just crayons, everything from the gesture in the flowers to the smoothness of the face is so skillful 👏
My inner child smiled so wide when I saw the table with ALL THE CRAYONS! You are amazing making such fun art out of anything and everything. So generous of you to donate the crayons and make many many children happy. 💖🙏💖
I love your growth, art, energy. Happened on this on a day I needed a pick me up (I will say, I watched a bit on Van Gogh, yesterday, and this was a wonderful adjunct of his more iconic work-like if Frida Kahlo and Vincent and Rae, well, you know it's a great smash up, and I enjoyed this, very much, especially when you said you were donating the crayons to a local school. Thank you for the smile, and you're welcome for the algo-rhythm and blues!
WOW !!!! This piece needs to go into The Crayola Hall of Fame if there is such a thing . It looks AMAZING ! Thank you for all you do ! Love your channel !
I feel like this is very appropriate: Remember a broken crayon still colors. Also, as a teacher myself, I did not think you would consider the Class Set of crayons an option but that is one way to fill out an art piece. I am also surprised you did not swatch anything especially those materials you have never used before.
I’m so sorry for ur loss I am sure that person is watching you from heaven, if you need to take a break don’t hesitate we all will surely understand ❤❤
I’m amazed! You’re a real artist who can make an art work out of cheap crayons that children use And also I like how you are very proud of your background and culture, since the drawing is about the Mexican tradition
I've been watching your videos for ages and honestly you're such an inspiration for me, I love how you show all the problems that occur in your creative process and how you fight it till the last stroke, I hope you have a wonderful Halloween!!
Beautiful drawing! It shows that you don't always need super fancy supplies. If you have the skill and the desire to do so, you can make kids supplies work.
Remember that movie about the living crayons? Imagine those crayons are alive, they’re like FINALLY ILL BE USED, and gets used once, and never used again. I know she donated them, but imagine she didnt
Twistables are literally my childhood, I really should get myself a box of them one time I get out of work. They're not completely the best in terms of different colors, but the twisting up gimmick is my fave
So glad I caught a recent short because, as usual, the algorithm punished a creature for not uploading 4 times a day. As someone whose mom taught for 35 years, I'm sure the crayons you donated were highly appreciated; budgets for schools (especially art programs) are woefully under funded, so that big influx of materials definitely saved the art teacher a decent chunk of personal change. You love to see responsible consumerism. The piece itself is so interesting to me because of how much the face pops and feels detailed and more realistic while the rest is a little less crisp, a little more flowy. And yet it's actually the lack of strokes that makes it feel that way! Such an interesting effect, I really like it! Sending you lots of love in this difficult time for you; I hope the people around you are able to bring you comfort through the holiday season. The first one is always the hardest. We have two thanksgivings (one day of for our extended family and one Saturday with my siblings & their families) and I know the one without my sister is going to be really fucking hard. Every time we've gotten together, I keep expecting her to be there.
Rae, this is absolute madness, but I'm loving the dedication! I still can't believe how many crayons were used, and how fantastic it actually looks?? When I use a crayon it looks like 5 year old me traveled to the future just for the art lol. Also good on you for buying so many crayons, and deciding to donate them!
Once again, you did it! You never fail to surprise me. I love watching your content, it always gives me the inspiration to keep going with my art, to keep on creating. Thank you Rae❤
I am so sorry for your loss I lost four people in a matter of months this year and it really took a toll on me so I feel bad for you. With that being said what the f word you got more patience than me but very pretty!
Rae, we all know that you can draw and paint beautifully. It would be nice to see you coming up with your own ideas now and then, rather than just seeing you copy what you find online. Think of the possibilities.

The 240 pack is just two 120 sets. So you get two of every color aka doubles for every crayon.
When life gives you crayons, Rae makes art.
buy the 168 it has more colors. The 240 is a duplicate pack, ie doubles of the 120.
would not recommend the dry erase; also what grade of math?
The twistable crayons are so revolutionary TBH, if Crayola made all of its products in that style, they might be my absolute go to. Like, can you imagine their skin color variety as those twistables? Crayola oil pastels actually work really well as what they are. I used them a lot during the oil pastel section of drawing class in college.
I feel like this is very appropriate: Remember a broken crayon still colors.
Also, as a teacher myself, I did not think you would consider the Class Set of crayons an option but that is one way to fill out an art piece. I am also surprised you did not swatch anything especially those materials you have never used before.
Sidenote: Now that everything is said and done, it time to learn from Echo and scratch the wax away. Good luck with carpal tunnel
