This song makes wanna break into someone's house and solve differential equations.
yep, that's actually what I thought too.
It makes me want to break in and steal their shit
where were you when i was taking diff eq
@Condoriano Bils - Not actually go through with a burglary, just do differential equations while the homeowners are gone (and unbeknownst to them).
Hilarious bro
I love how bass forward this mix is. Obviously the guitar is still the star but the bass is still showcased much more than usual. I wish more tracks were mixed this well.
OKAY.... NO GODS AND devil's and Daemons and angels and dieties this time Lushia.... So I said I was a sea dragon...
lars ulrich lmao
This is how hope sounds like
The motion of wave on Yvette guitar strings really got my attention...
anyone knows how is it made?
Sine wave
:)
Rolling Shutter effect, SmarterEveryDay did a video on it, fascinating stuff :)
When I film my guitar with a phone I can see those waves.
DancingDovaaah are you on crack?
2.15 magic happens , can’t get that piece out of my head ; that bass crescendo , the guitar expression phrasing, glued to the drums , fells like I’m trippin ; travellin …. out of this world
i've just gotten into covet a bit more past shibuya, i totally feel you. this amazing feeling in my chest from 2:15, the later recording on effloresce ramps it to 11 for me
Great great playing, fucking beautiful video.
+Jon Gomm I love your Playing ! Just Amazing !
+Jon Gomm Damn! I didn't expect to see your comment here! Nice to see you also like Yvette Young and Covet !! Greetings from Haarlem, The Netherlands
Haha Jon gomm shows up in some cool places
Amazing musician listening to amazing music from another amazing musician. I'm not impressed at all.
Takes one to know one, eh?
The dragon on the Santa Cruz METRO is one of the best moments of video anywhere. Absolutely adore this amazingly beautiful song!
2:15 always gives me chills
I love the use of the unconventional shutter speed to make the strings look super whacky! Suits so well with such lovely tunes
Is that how they make the guitar string wave effect?
Very different music, but check put omnipresent perception by beyond creation for another great example of that effect
That is caused by the rolling shutter at low framerates.
@Clay Goeke holy shit, so drugs slow down how the brains processes images?
@@Snimbudio strings always vibrate at different speeds based on sounds. The camera catches it different than your eye.
I don't listen to Covet much but I like to come back to this song every once and a while.
Oh wow, this is filmed in Santa Cruz. A lovely compliment to a beautiful song. Thank you!
I feel empty and lonely with this song, beautiful but sad..
but it's awesome..
Music is a huge plus for people of this world.
OMG, I've listened to this track dozen times but inly now, listening on a good pair of speakers I truly enjoy the flow of BASS here. Daymn
So what you're saying is i should listen to this beyond my little smart phone speakers?
This guitar is gorgeous omg
Those are some funky time signatures...
Aashish Bharadwaj What do you expect? It's math rock.
Aashish Bharadwaj That's basically the purpose. This is why it's called Math Rock.
This isn’t math rock
This isn’t even algebra
*This is calculus*
@@User-xw6kd OP didn't ask you what the purpose is. All they did was say they like it.
How socially inept are you to feel the need to reply to a compliment with an unnecessarily basic definition that wasn't asked for or required in any way?
Can i say thy. Its prog
4am after work, couldn't ask for a better song to listen to after
This music scares me, because there are people out there creating this, and I'm sitting at home experiencing it through UA-cam... I think I'm wasting my life away
If you feel like what you're doing right now isn't contributing to the things you want to do, then go out and do those things!
@@CptPoodlehats Don't be depressed!
Do what you enjoy.
Find a way to bring that joy to others through.
AT LEAST YOU ARE LISTENING TO IT...
well it's time to create !
im an 80s - 90s guy and I can say this is one of the rare music I found in the 21st century that amazes me the same way the classics does. I luv this! :)
Hoho boy, you have no idea how much you’re missing out on! I guess if you’re into this kind of stuff, check out bands like Chon, Plini, Animals as Leaders, Scale the Summit, Polyphia, Sithu Aye, and *_SO_* many others!
I ❤ Yvette
There's something transcendental in this clip, the high fps camera, along with the chinese dragon and the close ups, the lens flares and the color palette, the weirdness of the story and all the tiny details sprinkled here and there... yet it's not unreal, closer to surreal but still somehow surprisingly intimate and familiar.
A job well done, you have captivated my eyes and ears.
beautiful song and cinematography
One of my favorite songs of all time
Awesome music. I love the way the focus is on the strings and the background is so soft you can barely identify it. The Sea Dragon is beautiful, and its nice to see it moving around town with the supporters legs underneath. This is very special.
That blood orange sunset. Yes.
You guys absolutely amazing.
Fantastic art, gorgeous everything.
This really touched me. Amazing piece of art.
How I Built a Treehouse at an Airport show me on the doll where the song touched you.
That bass line. Killer.
Intricate and beautiful.
As kooky as this may sound, I have this on loop. With every replay, there are new layers of sound bubbling up which I had missed. Not to mention all of the emotions that come from experiencing this beautiful piece. 💞🎶
So I'm seeing this band with Polyphia and Jason Richardson? Awesome, glad for them!
That's why I just came to this video, because I'm stoked to see them with Polyphia!
can't wait!
Seeing the same show in Baltimore! So excited!!!!!
Still confused why they are touring with them. Love covet but really not a fan of polyphia or or Jason Richardson.
And to follow up, they were great last night! All the acts were!
The first time I listen this song, it's incredible!
The person who edited this and put it together is out of this world amazing and crazy talented. They deserve to be a millionaire.
Why am I just now finding out about this band!?
+Seth Harcrow I'm wondering the same thing
Don't worry bro, I'm 3 months behind you.
dude, i just found it yesterday...
I just found them today.. so ashamed
Discover them today wish it was sooner
Covet 🎶 = atmosphere, a place of comfort
Sounds refreshing and out of this world..
I love this!!!
amazing tunes!
greeting from Japan!

Yvette and Co. Your compositional and musical skills are extraordinary. Thank you for such impressive and evocative music.
Yvette's such an incredible musician that she can other incredible musicians unnoticeable. It took me a couple listens to pick up on how talented the bass player was and I am a bass player!
2020 still listening to this.......... clears my mind........
a masterpiece
Ughh finally a female guitarist in this genre for me to actually aspire after!! SO GOOD
Lol thanks, you're awesome right back! Ahh I actually do have some old covers and a few acoustic originals on my channel, but nothing like this - it's been a long time and I need to start recording again. Thanks for asking though! This & the band Invalids has been inspiring me to write some stuff like this lately. I'm just sad there aren't more women in the math/prog/postrock genre(s) in general /:
A Clark ever listen Tricot? They're an all female math band. There's also a lot of sick female bass players in the genre. Delta Sleep used to have a female bass player, the band Axes does, and a band called Elephant Gym has a freakishly talented bass player who's like the bass playing version of Yvette
Dude, thank you for recommending Tricot. I've been jamming them all afternoon, very nice stuff. I have heard of Elephant Gym and had no idea their bass player was a chick haha! Will definitely check those other bands out too, kudos!
A Clark no problem! I love sharing music with people, that's what it's all about :) if you ever want more stuff, don't feel weird asking.
A Clark elephant gym is soooo good! love the bassist in there.
So rad!
+Sean Ashe Flux is amazing! So beautiful, love it!
SgdoMusic I SWEAR!
how in the hell can anybody remember all that changes in rhythm, melody and tempo? am I somewhat stuck or are these guys geniuses? I fucking love this music, but also feel totally overwhelmed by its complexity! So far the most exciting to hear. Thank you for this whole new level of musical experience to me. You sure got chops.
practice
it's because they embody the music, it's them. it's just like reciting a poem to them
It's less "remembering" the changes in rhythm. It's muscle memory. It's like learning to walk - you stop needing to focus all the time if you get enough practice in. There's no longer a conscious switch between walking through the corridor and walking up the stairs. They're one in the same.
I'm addicted to this band! 😍
I love the feeling of pure Nostalgia I get listening to this.
dat wee dragon found his home in the end :3
Totally reminds me of the 4 years that I spent in Santa Cruz,Ca. It's totally downtown and it helps to be able to read backwards! Beautiful music there guys.
yeah the square roots and algebra are amazing in this song aren't they?
Peter Zamuda 😂
Math Rock basically does my Math homework for me.
This song is horrible, where's the quadratic formula?!?!
@@feel.s1304 it's all about vector spaces and power series
lol
The video in combination with the music overwhelms you beautifully...
It's been a very long time since a song has blown my mind like this
Pure art, a delight to all the senses! Love it!
I love with this song! Great compliment to "Ares"
Prettiest thing I've discovered on youtube in a long time...
When King Crimson came out with the Discipline album my mind was blown. I'm glad to see the youth still find a place to create and express within this kind of music.
I'm talking about the shifting time signatures and the like, which resembles some technique Crimson used. I'm talking about this more complex music that beats most of the pop crap of this generation.
I have that album on audio cassette from way back. They are definitely the band most similar to Covet (or vice versa) in my mind.
Those strings! beautiful!
Awesome, fabulous, magnificent.
Saw them again last night for the fourth time. Can't get enough of this band.
This is so beautiful and magical and just wow
I LOVE YOU GUYS.. thank you for the constant chills your music gives to me. 💖
So beautiful melodies , great work !!!
Awesome producing/editing and great band! Everything molds so well together with the music!
Beautiful colour and mellow music. Stunning ✨
I love this band makes wanna experience life and be happy
I couldn't stop watching, this is so beautiful
Awesome. I love coding to this music. Side note--even tho the guitarist is the amazing centerpiece, the drummer and the bassist are phenomenal as well. Good gaht dayum y'all three can throw down. This and especially Ares are my sh*t right now.
Like a cool stream washing over my soul.
Really pleasant to look at and even more wonderful music. Thank you for this!
beautiful lighting and fx video. beautiful music
Pure talent and musicianship, very good music
Ur songs are sooo pleasing to my ears!
Absolutely beautiful. The layers of sound light up my brain.
The visuals... The taste of these colors and shots is magnificent.
Holy shit, you guys shot some of this on Pacific! This song and video are like a gorgeous love letter to Santa Cruz. Rock on Yvette & Covet.
This brought tears to mi eyes and helped mi release some energy.i want to sincerely hug you for this. #Dangerous
I love how warm the lighting is and how slow moving the environment is and omg when the shutter speed of the camera made the strings look wavy i was very pleased
You guys are phenomenal. And whoever directs your videos shares in that as well. Please keep doing what you're doing.
Great music, great video quality, close up of flappy strings, this truly has it all.
Love everything about this, good job guys :)
I'm in love with this song
Everything about this is just so nice. You guys have done a beautiful job!
The end of this video is so emotional.
Great job loved the video it complimented the music beautifully.

such a lovely piece!
The video is crazy cool... and so is the music.
this song just blew my mind. well done lads. really enjoyed it
UA-cam recommendations coming through once again... Third song I'm listening and as far as I can tell every song from this band is a banger! Nice!
such a beautiful song!
truly indescribable..
Perfection.
I love everything about this.
Que banda más hermosa, su estilo me a encantado, que alegría descubrirlos....su música es inspiradora y llena de matices exquisitos....Gracias!!!!!
The bassist is killing it in this song as well.
This music is beautiful
