Brett, the Bucs got their asses kicked by the Saints, and almost lost to the Panthers. The Bucs couldn't even score a touchdown last time they played the Lions. THAT GAME WAS AT HOME!
They didn’t have Rashaad White implemented in the offense like they do now and also Calijah Kancey is a monster the Lions aren’t gonna just run the ball on the Bucs again they’re gonna have to convert long third downs

@@toddw3nzel639 I don't think so but it may look like it in the 4th quarter. Lions defense absolutely played the red zone well against the Rams who relishes being ahead by half time. Plus I feel the Lions can play for time with their run game, dominate the trenches and have balance. Bowles needs the Lions on a pass script to try summon 2018 Goff.

the disrespect for the lions smh. Goff has delivered time and time and time again this season. brett said he didn't know if the lions could dink and dunk against the blitz and score consistently... they've done that against Minnesota twice and they literally did it against tampa earlier this year. The lions were super banged up in that first bucs game too. missing olinemen and both elite backs. as well as our two best players in the secondary, and the game was in tampa. lions are a juggernaut how can you trust baker and todd bowels in this game??
Tampa’s defense have gotten much better in the second half, and they finished the season hot. Detroit almost lost to the Rams and lost to the cowboys who just got destroyed by a worse team in their division. I think people are underestimating Tampa because their division is so bad.

Everyone’s saying this isn’t the same Bucs team that the Lions beat earlier in the year… well it isn’t the same Lions team either. They didn’t have Gibbs, Monty, Houston, CJGJ, and a banged up O Line and still won. Detroit is a much better football team
I'm really late to this post, and hindsight is 20/20, but Brett was spot on in his analysis of the Packers/49er game. I hope he was just as correct with his comment about the Packers getting a new DC in Hafley and getting the D straight. As a decades old Packers fan, and owner, that grew up with Lombardi and suffered through the 70s and 80s, I am so looking forward to 2024 and beyond. It's been a hell of a run since Majkowski, Favre, Rodgers and now Love.

Some thing about the Packers that needs to be stated is that, love had a lot of “pick up” moments in the Dallas game. And when I mean by pick up is that he didn’t get to his first read in time, so then he had to scramble and then hit it by sending a bullet. Dallas didn’t have a really discipline defense for some odd reason. So I would imagine love game was more of a take advantage of the situation and made the most of his opportunities. So I would be very surprised if that happens again with SF.
It is still good to see a talented young QB execute in structure based on LaFleur's excellent game plan. While he can still freestyle and make a play because the game plan really exposes DQ's man principles and lack of big coverage bodies at the spine of the defense. I def feel its not in play against the Niners seasoned defense with the underneath area well patrolled, the DBs are physical and the pressure will be more consistent.
@@t4d0W Pretty much. Green Bay's only hope is that the 49ers come out slow enough to keep the game close and win in crunch time with some good fortune going their way. It's unlikely given how well coached San Fran is, but even still I feel like this game comes down to the last 2 minutes which ends in heartbreak again for green bay (let's say Green Bay is leading 21 to 20 in 2 minute drill) when Joe Barry inevitably gives up a scoring drive with his soft zone scheme. I can already see it coming.
Really looking forward to Houston-Baltimore and GB-SF. Hopefully the Texans can advance but if they don't I want Lamar to get a ring so we can stop the wierd narratives about him.

Im not basing my longterm headcoach hire based on how he did with geno for 1 year, especially considering geno was still really good this season. He just had no offensive line.
Canales is just a low tier hire imo. Seahawks can get way better.

Could not disagree more with brett acting like the detroi lions offense is like the 2020 steelers. Their offense has scored a ton on just about everyone all year and ben johnson has multiple head coaching offers for a reason. Goff distributes at all levels of the field and has made a killing in the 10-15 range. Detroit offense is creative and electric. They will not be limited to dink and dunk check downs for 12 play drives.
I must be out of my mind. With the exception of the Ravens game, a healthy 49ers team has, in fact, blown out everyone. They're healthy now. Niners by 18 to 21.

To stop the 49ers offense you need at least good LBs, or great like Baltimore and Cleveland. The Packers doesn't have that. I suspect it'll be a big CMC and Kittle game, modest game for Purdy and the receivers.

HbAs a Texans fan i hate to say it but yeah Brett got a point. Were kinda banged up team while Ravens are well rested ready to go team and i am not gonna lie its gonna be a doggy dog fight back to back and unfortunately i feel like the Texans season will end with a game winning drive TD or FG kicking by the Ravens. If so no matter what happens the future is so bright for the Texans.

I’m sure this won’t get answered but what has Lamar Jackson personally done this year to elevate him above the other QBs that are arguably more deserving for being tops in the league in stats (Purdy) or breaking records (Allen)? Other than team record and some timely good games at the end of the season I’m stumped.
I think Lamar is a very good QB, but as far as I’m aware, he isn’t top 5 in any QB stat other than leading QB’s in rushing yards. Not sure if there’s any analytics that show him being a true MVP but I think the award has just become “QB on the Best Team” award and not a true MVP award.
completely agree, stats aren’t everything but only accounting for 29 TDs would make him the weakest MVP winner in quite some time by my estimation, what surprises me most is how little buzz is around Josh Allen tbh, I think he’s far more deserving and I’ve seen some advanced metrics to support that case for whatever that’s worth

Mahomes was flawless against the dolphins and chiefs schemed up the zero blitz soooo well he could have 400 yards in this game if the Chiefs receivers don’t drop the ball 😂literally every game but one this year Mahomes was stellar but he couldn’t catch the ball for kadarius

Reverting to something Because It's Familiar is a fight or flight response. That's why Mike McCarthy can't _stop_ himself from repeating the same failures. You can't do algebra while running from a house on fire & he can't listen to the voices of his more rational coaches when it feels like his brain is on fire. We know that McDermott does this too thanks to the leaker & we keep seeing Joe Barry do it.

Thank God! the take on the Seahawks head coaching situation That's finally representative of how we feel. Several years ago the writing was on the wall and given we were in the division with the 49ers, I wanted Robert Salah. A year later I wanted Damico Ryan. Both turned out to be great coach's. Salah is it good enough coach for success, he just will never get a fair shot unless the quarterback position is solved. Even Bill belichick can't succeed without a quarterback

The Ravens' defense certainly is good, but they are not a historically great unit. The 49ers moved the ball well against the Ravens, they just shot themselves in the foot with turnovers, but those are hard to replicate. Trent Williams was out for more than half of the offensive snaps in that game and the 49ers still made a ton of explosive plays. Can the Ravens completely shut down the Texans? Sure. Will they? Maybe, maybe not.
They aren't historically great? They're 6th in the last decade. They're the first ever defense to lead the NFL in sacks, takeaways, and lowest PPG in a single season.

- They also played a number of poor QBs (and O-lines for that matter) like PJ Walker, Kenny Pickett, Josh Dobbs, Mason Rudolph, Jake Browning and a lifeless corpse that people claim to be Ryan Tannehill.
- 31 takeaways is rarely enough to lead the league, even if we go back to a 16 game schedule.
- 60 sacks is good, but it does not even make the top 20 all time and that is with an extra game.
Many reasons to believe that this is a good, a very good defense, that simply isn't historically great. And that's fine, most teams aren't.

Time and time again buccaneers DB get picks when the force the team to play short, they're all film junkies they'll know all of Detroit's tendencies, now Carlton hasn't been great in straight up coverage this season but he's made a lot of veteran plays this season, laying out receivers on screens a couple ints
I’m as wary of Buffalo as I’ve ever been but it’s the strangest thing, I’m not worried in the slightest. I’m confident that if Mahomes and the team play like they want it, they’re just going to win this game. That’s not to say they will but I’m not worried that we’ll just get outgunned. All there is to do now is to enjoy the show.
For me it's "just another game", but because we've won so much lately that I'm actually fine with however this season goes. Want them to win, obviously, but I'm not as stressed as last season.

As a Packers fan, I’m pretty sure the Defence walling the 9ers last time we were in the playoffs was a massive fluke.
They were trotting out a beat up Garoppolo in the snow, didn’t have CMC at that point, Elijah Mitchell got the lions share of carries, Aiyuk had one target.
This is a fully rested 9ers team with weeks to prepare. I’m not saying GB won’t compete but it will be an all time upset if they can pull out a win.
Brian Flores would slot in as a top 10 HV right away and that’s not even debatable. Personally I think he’s the 4th best HC in the league. He’s done an excellent job with a previously terrible Vikes defense. He won 4x more games w the Dolphins than they were expected to win. I’d you said before the 2019 season that Miami was gonna go 1-15, people woulda told you you were way too high on them. They won 5 that year and 10 the next. I just… even in a year with Harbaugh and Belichick, how is he not being talked ab as the consensus top HC candidate on the market.

Some fluky stat manipulation here guys. Josh Allen was second in the NFL in turnovers this year. Sure he had less interceptions….but he had more fumbles. Also using Mahomes December road stats instead of his playoff stats is wonky. What matters more, playoff pressure, road games or weather? Cause his TD to pick ratio in the playoffs is 36/7….
Minus the wild card round, Packers have played one elite defense in the last 10+ weeks, being the chiefs. They can't keep up with a defense like the 9ers, and they're gonna get rolled by 10+
