- When teenager Marie Adler (Kaitlyn Dever) files a police report claiming she's been sexually assaulted by an intruder in her home, the investigating detectives, as well as the people closest to her, come to doubt the truth of her story. Meanwhile, hundreds of miles away, detectives Grace Rasmussen and Karen Duvall (Toni Collette and Merritt Wever) meet while investigating an eerily similar pair of intruder rapes and partner to catch a potential serial rapist. Inspired by the real events in The Marshall Project and ProPublica Pulitzer Prize-winning article, "An Unbelievable Story of Rape," "Unbelievable" is a story of unspeakable trauma, unwavering tenacity, and astounding resilience. Dever, Collette, Wever, Danielle Macdonald and executive producers Susannah Grant, Lisa Cholodenko and Sarah Timberman took the BUILD stage to discuss the Netflix Original series.

The Merrit's performance (Detective Duvall) was so fucking amazing, she absolutely deserves an Emmy
If he didn’t take photos, that poor girl would’ve never got justice. That is scary. There must be so many women treated like her, destroyed and never got justice they deserve.
This show was one of the best things I have seen on screen. The content, its portrayal, the way it was shot - there is sooo much to unpack! I hope it gets the accolades and attention it deserves!

It always SHOCKS me when someone has an accent and in the show or movie, they remove that accent for an “American accent”. It truly blows my mind every time lol

I just binged this whole show today. As a survivor of sexual assault and rape, it made me feel a sense of relief and hope. It's been 16 years and I still have PTSD and struggles, but seeing a realistic portrayal of not only the victims but the detectives who actually care...got me. I appreciate the respect for this show and for giving people like me a voice. I'm so sad for the ladies this was based on but thrilled they got justice.
Some people try to find feminism everywhere. It's a true story. Those detectives are women in real life. Producers didn'd switched genders of characters. I like these women emphasize several times that's not about gender that's about how you should get serious about your job. Because you can save someone's life or ruin it.
Why is life so crushingly miserable for some people, you never know when your interacting with someone what they may have been through. This series says alot about the modern world we find ourselves in, its failings and its triumphs. I almost got the sense from watching the 1st two episodes that women have so resigned themselves to the heinous crimes committed against them that they have to think more about how the reporting of a sexual assault will be recieved by police and public alike and not about how they can find support and comfort after such a terrible ordeal.
I’m on the third episode and this show makes me feel short of breath by how fantastic and heartbreaking it is. A flawless production.
Kaitlyn Dever is one of the best actors of this generation. Her performance was brilliant.
