Hey Jeff, for your next video can you help out us Calisthenics folk? I'm baffled by all of the different lower body exercises we have that seemingly target the same muscles/muscle groups. Squats, deep squats, split squats, sissy squats, pistol squat/skater squat, jump squats, kneeling jumps, lunges, lateral lunges, reverse lunge, cursty lunges, step-ups, hip thrusts, glute bridge, glute kickback, ect, ect, ect. It's a lot, and it feels downright silly. Can you narrow it down to just a few that does everything we need for a powerful lower body with or without a weighted backpack?
@@bigg5320 If he doesn't respond, I would recommend: 1. Try reinforcing the elbow with straps/braces ease the burden. 2. If that doesn't fix it, try exercising the muscle groups in alternative ways. For the back, the overhead pulls with the bands he often illustrates work great. For the chest and the serratus anterior do pushups-plus. 3. If you have weights, there are also benchpress for chest and pull-throughs using weights instead of bands. 4. Lastly if all of those mess up your elbow, the Iron Cross on the floor or wall is a good back exercise and require straight arms, so shouldn't activate your elbow pain.
This helps a lot for working out at home like us do not have time and money going to actual gym. Do more dumbbell series please! Thanks Jeff! Been following you for 11 yrs!
Gyms have become a dumping ground for douchebags of all sexes and orientations 😢 . All this "look good" focus turned anorexic shitheads gone wild on steroids into local stars and they indulge in there new found power. It is effectively gross.
As a 'veteran' of many decades keeping myself fit and strong, I want to give "kudos" for all the great info you to the masses. Most of this is 'old school' while you add great variations as well. Keep up the great 'work,' Sir.
This man is amazing! Not only he provides tried and true knowledge (his body is the proof that it works) but he does that for free and goes direct to the point. Always.
I've been watching your videos for at least 4 years. I had been going to PT for 3 months and it did nothing to help my sciatica. I went looking on to UA-cam and came across your video. That afternoon I had pain relief. Now I'm having some lower back pain so I'll be trying these. Thx!!
I only got a set of individual dumbbells a few months ago after going with a barbell set and bodyweight workouts for a few years. Really appreciate this!
This is some of the most helpful and comprehensive info I’ve seen in your videos and I’ve watched for ten years. Always great stuff, but this is pristine! Thanks Jeff
I’ve been doing “man makers” for about a year. I’m 68 years old. I call them renegade burpees. I started doing 1 set of 10-12 reps with 25 lb dumbbells and they almost killed me. I dropped down to 5 reps and added sets. Now I’m doing 4 sets of 5 reps with 35 lb dumbbells, at least 3x/week.
These are great, I really appreciate the goal-oriented recommendations. A lot of other videos are only focused on size, and don't really state that explicitly.
Great video Jeff ( as always) this was perfect timing as I was just thinking of working on my back. I have a decent Gym at home but the back excersises are limited so this is perfect. I have several videos of yours and they are invaluable to me and I use them daily. I love your teachings and your in-depth, concise, no-nonsense approach. You are the guy I recommend to anyone for overall health and fitness. A series sound like a great idea. I look forward to it.
Jeff @athleanx , this is literally perfect. I was actually just planning on messaging you asking (and hoping that you'd see it and do it) that you would provide a video on back exercises using dumbbells. This is so helpful, thank you so much!
Very good. I do one other bench dumbbell , where I do single arm press and lift the shoulder off the bench , giving a twist to the abdomen with 20 pound kettle bells ,then alternate. You have always had the best videos I'm am 75
@chainyrabbit bro I literally just searched back exercises with dumbbells because I have nothing else to work with and suddenly 5 hours later I see this video I'm like so much started believing in god
I got a hernia from doing the traditional one-arm row I only have dumbbells and was looking for a safer way to work out my back this fits the bill thanks
Jeff, Could you put a series together for older people around aged 60... I want to get stronger and maybe build a little muscle if that is even possible at this age... It would be great to get your input with a series for your older subscribers... Thank you, I really have learned a lot from you and Jessie!!!
Thank you. I’m at the stage of my life where I can only afford 30min workout at home. My child and work take priority but I have some time for myself to build some minimum fitness level to play with my child.
Hello, good, first of all, thank you for the videos you make, they have helped me a lot for training, I want to know if you still have the inguinal hernia that you had 3 years ago, or in the end you had to have surgery, I would greatly appreciate your answer since I got one very small and I'm very bad psychologically, it doesn't hurt but I love irons and thinking that I can't do them makes me sad, I hope you can help me in some way. Thank you very much
Sadly doing dumbbell pullovers I dislocated my right shoulder 3 weeks ago always felt a good stretch, but correct technique is really important in pullovers.
The (free) 30 day dumbbell app by Leap Fitness was a great routine for me and honestly the one I'll likely start up again when I bring myself to workout. 😅 I did progressive overload rather than a single weight and it got me in great shape. Did full body. Started with basic, then did intermediate twice. Kicked my A every time but making it through felt like an accomplishment. I recommend yo.

That dog leash hack blew my mind 🤯😂
Jeff, I'd really like to learn how you can calculate the weight for back exercises to have normal definition, not imbalances. Any ideas?
What imbalance
It’s important to mention, when doing back exercises start very light until your muscles are developed.
