I think it was your factory tour a few years back that really sold me on protech.. even before I bought my first knife from them...I just absolutely loved hearing there story and seeing just how awesome they run there business!!!!!!protech now has me as a customer for life!!!
@@TheKnifeLifeChannel Absolutely let me tell you bout someone I just found this knife modder . Hes called the way of the knife and he can do crazy things with aluminum. I'm sending in one of mine I seen his work check it out . Peace
The legal limit in California is under 2", so 1.99" and below. Not 2" and anything above 2". A switchblade, OTF, automatic, folding, and Swiss army knife that is 2" or more than 2" is actually illegal by state law. However, there are county laws. If I'm not mistaken, in OC (Orange County) it is 3.99" and below, under 4". But I know for sure that in LAC (Los Angeles County) it's 2.99", below 3". This is for any OTF, Swiss army, switchblade, and folding knives for both counties I mentioned. Edit: in San Diego city, where my dad and I are from, I think the blade limit for the knife types mentioned above is at 2.5". Don't really know and I'm not too sure, but for any state and county, you can just conceal any knife in your pocket, whether it's against the law or complying with the law. I'll still conceal carry my school knife in my pocket until I get the accessories for it, like the necklace lanyard for my eldris mora knife. The blade is only 2.3" so it's legal on any Californian school grounds, complying with the law in Cali.
I want a malibu still haven't been able to get one so ive settled with the tr3 x1 military issue in s45vn. I really wanted my first protech to be the malibu.
Why did he call it "Pro-Tech"? It's not an obvious name, like Ross' Cutlery or Dave's Knives. Is there any relation to Micro-Tech, or are the similar names just co-incidence?
@@TheKnifeLifeChannel Thanks, I look forward to hearing about it. I've just received another reply to say I've won a knife, with a strange number to text. I'm assuming that's a scam attempt and NOT from you, right?
@@oldstogey7864 So I've got the story for you directly from Dave W himself. Back during the beginning of Pro-Tech Dave was trying to settle on a name and "Pro-Tech" just happened to be on the list of possibilities. At this time the Tactical Response (TR) line was brand new and he was looking to dig into the law enforcement market. Dave noticed that if you took TR and put it on the end of Pro-Tech it sounded like "Protector." So that's what he went with since he liked the sound of it.
With so many options I buy the brand almost as much as the knife itself. Thanks for doing this and hope to see more! I like to know who I’m supporting

I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
Pro-Tech is a family to me. I love their knives. So many great people that work in the protech industry I’m glad I can call friends!
I love knowing the brands history - thank you!
I loved James' content on his channel, great to see him get a video on BladeHQ! Great video on Pro-Tech!
Thanks for the support and kind word Dylan!
I have a Pro-Tech Godfather from 2004. They actually sent me a pocket clip when I emailed them the serial number for information, great company
They are very personable and care about their quality!
I’m calling dibs on one of those magnacut Malibus, so you have to save one for me. I called dibs, that’s the rules.
Let’s do Microtech next
Thanks for the feedback!
(switchblade clicks intensify)
I bought my first Runt the year they came out and have been a Pro-Tech fan ever since, I have to many to count...
Snappy works of art. I am new to collecting and am working my way up to a pro-tech.
They are excellent knives. The polished TR in this video is the only knife I've opened the box on and said "oh dam!"
I have three Godsons. It is my favorite EDC knife.
And idk who's room that is or where that is..... but that looks like the ULTIMATE man knife room!!!!! Super cool!!!!!!
Thank-you! That is my studio for The Knife Life. It's my favorite room in the house. I just got the lighting upgraded for this video actually.
I recently purchased a Godson and man I see what it’s all about! Thinking about picking up a Newport soon.
Or you could get one of the fancier Godsons😊
I picked up an Emerson wave chisel tip. I have had my eye on the purple Godson.
Wow you got James Allen! The Knife Life is the best!
I got my first two protechs recently. I got the runt 5 last week and the Emerson today. They are snappy
Amazing story thanks! Just ordered my Malibu magnacut wharnclif today so this story behind it is awesome 😎
Awesome History Of Protech
Thank-you! I'm glad you enjoyed!
History of Cold Steel please
Thanks for the feedback!
Love Protech Knives the best auto makers IMO
Pro-tech makes very nice knives. I have 5. Once you fire a pro-tech you can never go back to lazy automatic knives. God tier knife company IMO.
The Godson is my favorite EDC knife. I have three (so far).

Fantastic
My favorite knife brand.
A good choice!
Very cool 😎👍
Who's the new guy? Seems like he knows his stuff
This is James from The Knife Life, and he really does know his stuff! -George
I would like to see them make a runt 2.0 but make the blade 2½ or even 3" in length
Agree.
Call it "The Punt".
Pro-Tech Godson
I keep missing out on Malibu's.
Keep an eye out in the next couple weeks.
Good video. I would suggest no music next time because it's pretty distracting
When are the rull size rockeyes dropping? 👀
Rockeyes come this week. Shoot me a message on IG
I vote for history of Microtech next.
But where's the Mordax?
The Mordax will feature in the next video...
@@TheKnifeLifeChannel I wanted one since they were a Drop exclusive. Now I have the money to buy one and have been waiting since SHOT Show 2022 :(

Is anyone interested in buying a protech tr5?

That's an interesting question. I'll ask Dave next time I chat with him.

“They always have something new” that you can’t buy.
