  • The decarboxylation of amino acids will only occur under specific conditions one of them being that the bacteria has the operon that can use lysine, ornatine, or arginine. As you've probably noticed, most of these labs work together to confirm your results and if the results don't align then based on the point of misalignment you know where to trouble shoot. This will be very important when you lab practical rolls around, so make sure you know which lab results work in conjunction with one another.

    i think the yellow color result is more acidic and the purple color is basic, because the breaking down of amino acid produces ammonia and ammonia is basic or also a higher pH levels. Am I right?
