    Teak counter top, vessel sink, bedroom lights........these see like small things that should go quickly, but there is only so much time in the day

    I have to admit when you turned on the shower and the water was spraying I had a big smile on my face. Congratulations another step towards moving in. Now is the time you need to wear many hats of different trades as you get projects completed. Hopefully the good weather helps you get things done so you can get moved in. The pride of home ownership is the projects never stop. Thanks for sharing. Stay safe

    Everything is turning out great! Love the teak wood.........beautiful. Thank you for taking us along on these adventures and we learn as you learn. Great teachers!
    So excited about the gas lines getting hooked up and the water flowing out of the shower and sink. Glad it was just a loose connect under the sink. I am so excited for you and can imagine your excitement!!! So now everything is turning out and working out even if little glitches you are so much closer. I can see Jefanna winking a lot when things are done.......LOL
    Bless you guys and hang in there as the end is close. When the water flows and the gas cooks, you know the rest isn't far off. EXCITING!!
    Blessings and stay safe!!!

    Perseverance gives results if you work on. Actually you did, so you're extremely close to finish. I hope your family will enjoy the fruits of your work for many years to come. Building a home in your country is probably not a big deal, as you're moving all around, but here in Europa is almost a multi-generation project, which stays in place for even centuries.. Anyway, keep on, just a little bit. Oh, then don't forget the "shed/workshop/garage/cellar" addition. 😏 For making apple juice and cider you'll need more space, the same to store the equipment and tools. Cheers, let it happen!

    Hello don't know what your name is but let me say this regarding your propane piece install and I'm not a plumber either buy some redi steel baby or regular size mount it to the wall of your house and buy some pipe clamps for it. If it does reach the pipe build it up with a piece of wood or add an other piece of redi steel using spring nuts and 1/4 20 bolts. Good luck Jerry

    Someone may have already said this, but you really need a shutoff valve in the line to the house both at the tank and the secondary regulator for safety and emergency shutoffs.

      Hello Sarah, Thank you. We are still digging in the dirt, doing items that are less appealing to me, YET we are also doing more items that I really enjoy with the aesthetics. Lauren is thriving. There will always be Ehlers Danlos, but her good days are more and more. She makes the most of them. She is flying through remote schooling. Thanks for being here. We have been putting in long days and when I read the positive comments it really lifts me up.

    I think mistakes keep us humble, most embarrassing to find ourselves a work in progress.. I've done some gas work and large pipe was not something I would of used in the copper parts... ran mostly three eights copper as its just a ton easier to do and keep up with. Ya all in all did a great job and not picking holes in the quality of your work, I just do it differently is all.

    Have you ever heard of a compression fitting vs a flare fitting, A compression fitting solves the issue of not having a flare at all.

    • @breakheartorchard4761
      @breakheartorchard4761  Рік тому

      As I understand it, the copper compression fittings are approved for water but not gas. Although the polly fitting is compression.

    Hey guys looking awesome! My wife and I were wondering if your build was being financed with a bank or if you all were just building out of pocket ? Were trying to figure out how we can start building soon thanks . Looking forward to more videos!

    • @breakheartorchard4761
      @breakheartorchard4761  Рік тому +1

      Hello Mathew. Financing is something comes up regularly with anyone who wants to take on the task of building their own house. I am no authority on it but from my experience, larger banks tend to say no. Smaller, community banks and farm banks or credit unions are more understanding of the situation. I am the general contractor for my build. Lots of times you would be required to be licensed. The more creative you can get, the better. For us, there was the advantage of having a house that was paid off. We k used it as our bank for the first couple years of the build. Took a loan against the house and that gave us much more freedom. But beware. The money never goes as far as you hope it will and if there is a shift in the market (C-19 caused construction materials to blast thru the roof) . overall, having control of our own cash to work made things extremely easy. eventually we ran out of money. Then I borrowed. That's when things get strict. you have lists of everything, deadlines, and inspections. And conventional banks usually won't play nicely with you when you are the builder. I used farm credit and they were great. But there are still a lot of requirements. When we started all this, interest rates were low. now they are dreadfully high, and land loans are usually much higher than mortgages. so are construction loans. Evaluate what you can realistically do. If you can build a smaller house then build onto it, that may be the smartest thing. If I had to do over I would probably push for that butIt still would have been a long journey. Good luck. if this is something you really want to do...both of you, then I am sure you will find a way.

    • @matthewclark9238
      @matthewclark9238 Рік тому

      Yes we have land and had to back away from building because of our GCs prices and the intrest rates. That's why I am going to explore GCing myself. But unfortunately we will have to wait to start because Bank "our account" has depleted due to having to buy a house to get out of a rental we were in. Hopefully that wont become an issue when we go to sell 🤞 . Looking forward to your upcoming videos where you get CO ! 🍻
