    Direct > Regular
    The dude's mistake was to hyperdiversify. He would end up with index returns.
    The benefit of switching to direct isn't realized till about 6 years due to taxes paid. Parimal ji should have mentioned it. Analyzing at 2 years is going to yield less as expected. So decision was not wrong.
    My dad uses a MFD. His portfolio has 44 funds. Many thematic and sectoral. My BP increases when I see it. He still doesn't want to change to direct. Thanks to sweet talk of MFD. Can't help boomer parents. All young people can learn from those mistakes and do DIY investing with 5 MFs
    1. Flexicap
    2. Large cap index
    3..small /mid cap
    4..Balanced advantage
    5. Gold etf

    Same case here-
    1. There was no value addition by my agent.
    2. No switchinng was suggested for poor performing funds (3 for 3 years)
    3. Diversification was poor.
    4. 2 were repetative.
    5. Waiting for lock_in Period end for 2.
    *What I did?* -
    1. Opted for *direct* instead of regular.
    2. I needed money during transit Period for education goal of child.
    3. Selected 3 new, diversified funds (2, those whose companies good but did not perform well in last 1 year, avoided small & mid-cap, recently)
    3. Holding cash, waiting for moderately appropriate valuations for mid & small caps. Will start 2 new afterwards. (till then creating position in silver & gold ETFs)
    4. Trying bulk inputs at appropriate falls, (looking at companies's technicals, funds presently invests in)
    5. In short, trying to get more out of my small investments 😅

    1.) Why choose only 5 to 7 funds ?
    What if i consider funds as one company and consider it as an X % of return generator ?
    Is it not everyone should focus on overall return on investment than complicating by how many funds we have ?
    2.) Most active funds can not beat smart beta index funds, and they dont have any comments why someone should not go ahead with smart beta index ( good supporting data from USA and India).
    3.) As MF advisor do not provide logical reason for choosing active regular funds over index / smart beta index, it reduces trust and have to change.

    • @utkarsh5800
      @utkarsh5800 17 днів тому

      The reason to not choose funds like company is simple. One fund invests in 10 different companies and if you have multiple funds you are indirectly investing in the same company through multiple funds which does not make much sense

    Most of distributors have no interest in their customers and they only focus in their commissions. This is also true for insurance adviser

  • @HarmonicaShala
    @HarmonicaShala 18 днів тому

    Did he go for 20 different fund houses or 20 funds? Also, I am still not clear about your verdict. Are you suggesting that it is better to go for a distributor? How will a person assess how good is the distributor? Aajkal bahut log LIC agent ke jaise MF ka bhi kaam karte hain. Fund ka review mil jaata hai. Distributor ka kahan se milega? BTW, valueresearchonline par bhi woh log advisory services provide karte hain aur woh log direct fund mein hi invest karwate hain at a quarterly subscription. Fir aap bologe ki aapki growth mein unka koi interest nahi hai. Fir investor kya kare?

    stupid analogy. Seems like a made up story😂. If he has seen videos on direct vs regular , he would have definitely learned not to overdiversify. no sane person will do this.
    There is no point in paying distributors. Choose 3-4 funds(flexi, small and mid) and stick to them no changes needed. Just because distributor is not fraud doesn't mean i should pay him. There is no point in having regular meetings for mutual funds and all with a distributor.😂
