    If your boots are the beeswax leather you should be using something like Skidmore's Premium Beeswax Waterproofing not oils and creams.

    That's a good one bro.. liked your method.. However, do you have a workaround to reverse the darkening effect after waxing the leather or is it permanent? And does it lighten a little after completely drying?

      Depends on the oil. Usually it lightens a little once dry, but it will be permanently a little darker after every application. If done right, the darkening will match beautifully with the growing patina.

    Thought of the comment I made on cleaning the other day tonight. I was out scouring Pawn shops looking for items to buy and sell. And happened upon a Leather jacket "Biker Style " That Fit me Like a Glove.. And best was the PRICE out the door $25.00. The jacket is quality construction Made in the UK. However it was dirty. It had a few Smudges and some paint speckles as well it was just plain dirty. Well I got hot water and added about a table spoon of Murphy's oil soap. I do have a HH Brush I use for applying the soap oil lathe scrubbing it in well.. I then with a towel just just wipe with the towel. The Paint spots took a little more vigorous scrubbing as did the smudges" What ever they were? Well the finished product came out soft supple with a totally different look. I took a picture after treating half the jacket. . Yea definitely give Murphy's Oil a Try..

    If I want a more natural matte look to my pair of suede Chelseas then do I skip the leather balm and use only the beeswax?

    I cleaned mine with a rag and then applied some beeswax to it. After an hour or so I tried to wipe the excess beeswax off but now my shoes are a bit sticky and it picks up dust very easily.
    Do you have any tips for me?
    Thanks.

      The sole is a tough one--- there isn't too much you can do. But try hitting it with some dish soap and an old toothbrush. You should be able to remove a little bit of grime, but you'll sadly never get them to look good as new again.Thank you so much for watching and commenting--I really appreciate it!

      Try using sandpaper if it can get the dirt and grime out of the sole.

      @@BootSpy I was able to clean mine with laundry soap. It went a bit too sticky after but got it looking really clean. The grime just came off but be careful with the leather!

    I have an old pair of these shoes that need some TLC. I was wondering, do you think I'd be able to use a nappa leather grease instead of a leather balm? Are they in fact the same thing?

    • @chrisblanc663
      @chrisblanc663 Рік тому

      They are not. But you can go ahead and try it.

    I applied Leather balm and bufffed. It looks darker and carrys a shine on it which is a bit too heavy to my liking. asny ways to return back to the basic beeswax look which is neither matt not too shine.... ?
