Not going to lie, because I get that the 'live audience' has always been a huge variable in the Late Night TV equation, but I actually really like this setup. It's much more intimate. Even when it gets back to having guests, in studio, the lack of audience is actually kinda refreshing. Everything seems a lot more authentic.
Who needs an audience when you have the Roots :)

I agree! I love it but i also love hearing some live laughter from the Roots. I found myself laughing out loud a lot more

@@VontLeak ah! that makes sense. so where they were for last months of late night, it's a very very similar, if not same size though, yet it looks so much wider because of everything spaced out.
@@katelynbrown98 it'll be so they could build a temp social distancing set, but keep the proper one ready to go back to... next year.... I've been in the proper one and it's very small and everything is very close together. I would say it was easier building a new set next door than modifying that one.
the new set up is EVERYTHING. i love this and i want it to stay. not just the studio design (which seems to have taken inspo from jim and nancy’s place?) but the dressed down, chiller look/vibe too. this is a perfect time to reinvent the whole format. kudos to whoever was on the design team!

Kate H 👍🏻 I don’t know if you are old enough to remember, but visually this is fashioned after the opening credits for the classic Neil Simon TV show, “The Odd Couple.” The music is similar, too.
I never noticed how LOUD that announcer's voice-over is compared to the background music on the intro, until now, when I'm hearing on headphones. But it sounds just right coming through the TV speakers, so they must know what they're doing. Love the music, though -- best intro he's had. Now this sounds like a late night talk show.

What can I say about tonight's show, I loved everything about it from the intro to the studio to the casual feeling of being 'home' Jimmy and the gang never disappoint and in this day of 'new normal' I wasn't sure how the show would work without the audience but I loved the vibe of tonight's show...thanks for continuing to bring us laughs when we just wanna cry sometimes from the stress of what's going on right now
@Anne Liesveld unfortunately till they can have a full audience because I really don't see how they could social distance in the studio so I'm afraid no audience for awhile and plus look how many people come from other countries & even when they find a vaccine not everyone believes in them so not sure when a audience can become a reality

@Anne Liesveld I know. I don't get how people believe the show is live. None of the late night talk shows even claim to be.
I came all the way from CA and had tickets to see Jimmy on March 13, the day that Gov. Cuomo shut down the city. Was very sad that it was cancelled but I understood it was the right thing to do. I hope one day I can go back and check this off my bucket list!
I went to NYC from Argentina in 2016 to see the show! Didn't hace tickets but I did the standby line in the snow. It was worth it!

@@AnnieWarbux I am 57 now. I had to have a sinus treatment like this when I was young. But they used a swan in each nostril and they left it there for 30 minutes. It was agonizingly uncomfortable. I hated it and would not even suggest my kid, if they were school age, get this nasal swabs unless totally necessary! Much less on a regular basis just so the kids can go back to school EARLY!
I live in the Caribbean and I have CSEC Examinations to get done ✅ we don’t have to do that swab test them does take your temperatures and outside of every store or work place has an area to wash your hands before entering. To do our exams we have to walk with mask 😷 and the areas will be sanitized for the students. It doesn’t have anymore confirm cases of COVID 19

I am actually writing this through tears ...happy and sad ones. Happy because I know you are so excited to get back to Rockefeller Center with The Roots... but sad too because these past 5 months that COVID 19 seems to have completely turned our world 180 degrees - you my friend have been the constant that has helped my family get through this tough time. Sad, because I felt like I really got to know the REAL Jimmy Fallon and feel that the level of comfort you had while filming from home is sadly gone. As your youngest might say, “I like the home daddy (Jimmy) better. I reside in Florida and right now there is no light at the end of this long tunnel because many feel that their rights are being taken away just because you asked them to wear a mask!!! I'm so happy the show is back in the studio! I loved Tonight Show at home though--it was a lifeline, especially during the first few weeks of the pandemic.

Good opening Jimmy. As a nurse I was working in New York at the beginning. I had never been to New York and the city literally shut down within three days of my arriving. All the shows and the MET closed. I have since left and returned home and perhaps next year will be able to return to see New York City. Stay safe and wash your hands.....

Most of the comments are saying how chill and new this feels... and I really concur. Like if this is the new normal for Late Night television, I'm all for it. To have a show where it just feels like hanging with the crew for an hour in a relaxed environment is really nice. Maybe this is what 2020 and beyond has in store for us.

I like the Sesame Street like intro. I think we all know by now from his remote @ home quarantine episodes Jimmy F. does not live in a brownstone/walk up in the city. Plus, why would he ever use cash money to pay for a coffee? I don't watch his show on the regular, but he does look happy to be back in the studio.
I would assume they have an apartment in the city as well as the house out on Long Island.

As a recent Floridian, I wish I could say we are as resilient as New Yorkers. The reason cases are surging is because people don’t care. Praying people will wake up and those of us still taking the virus seriously can go about our normal lives soon. And The Tonight Show coming back gives me hope. I love seeing Jimmy in this casual, intimate space. Almost makes him funnier 🥰
