This show was cancelled in 1982 Because it's was running against CBS reruns of Alice 10:30am eastern time. No ABC daytime programming in the 10am hour.
Who would win? I think the pair has the advantage when everyone's good, because I think a board that's 2/3 white is going to win more often than not. Though sometimes the pair gets in each other's way. The format is so amazingly successful and intriguing, and I can see why the UK outright fell in love with it.

I read in Adam Nedeff’s book about Cullen NBC was renewing the show every 2 weeks at this point. They knew they were canceled, but not when.
They were doing that badly in the ratings?
I think it was likely not awful but not gangbusters either.

Bill Cullen did a fantastic job. This was probably his best show.
