I’m almost 60 years old and lost weight and gained muscle following Dr. Lyon’s advice on resistance training and protein intake. So glad I watched this to get back on track after a week of low energy and laziness. Thank you Dr. Mike for his advice at the end on taking a little break in between.
I'm 57, 6'4" and about 240 this morning - was about 325 this time last year, and over 350 during covid. The only thing I'd really add to this conversation is that results matter more than the specific levers you pull. For me, those levers have been less about carbs vs. fats and more about gut health, muscle focus, and time spent not eating. Again - for me - hunger control is much more achievable by keeping focus on a more ketogenic fermented food / high protein standard day, with at least two days of weight training weekly as non-negotiable.
Indeed. I've got the very same opinion about it. For me, I've got my results better and easier when I go keto and fasting, because it gets somehow easy to follow the diet and control hunger.
"The best diet is the one you stick to." -Some guy. Simple fact is, most people don't need to get into the nitty gritty of all this. They need a plan they're willing and able to stick to, and only the most basic knowledge to apply it.
Amazing conversation! Thank you. I love Dr. Mike and his sense of humor. 😀 I'm 61, I've been active all my life - growing up in the Netherlands, I cycled or walked to school, work etc. I didn't get a driving license until I was 34. I quit smoking when I was 30. I used to do all kinds of classes: steps, aerobics, jogging, some weight training. I started teaching Zumba when I was 45 and became a yoga teacher when I was 55. I became a vegan 10 years ago. I started weight training with a coach in April last year and now lift weights 4 times a week. Walk my dogs twice a day. I quit drinking (again) last year, because I feel and look so much better when I don't drink alcohol. I do not feel "my age" physically. When people ask me what I do to look the way I do and not have any health problems, they say things like: "I wouldn't have the discipline." "That's too hard for me to do." "I couldn't give up (cheese, meat, wine etc)". I don't feel like I'm giving up anything! Instead, I know how I want to grow older and what I want to be able to keep doing.
Love his sense of humor & super calming voice! This advice was so help, especially the last part about going back to maintenance when you reach deficit fatigue - thank you so much!
Im currently following his advice, I've lost 85 pounds this year and it's been so motivating to prove i can keep the weight off before I continue to lose more.
I tried for a year and a half to not over eat while going to the gym, but never allowed myself to be really hungry for a period of time. Built muscle but didn’t lose weight or more importantly clothes sizes. The secret for me was when Dr. Mike said hunger pain is mandatory, and stress is all forms is bad. I work on sleeping and relaxing all while allowing myself to be a little hungry. 6 months later, down 4 inches off the waist while achieving lifting PRs.
I do want to applaud you, but as somebody who lost 40 pounds after middle age and has kept them off for over 12 years, it’s very hard to know how you’re gonna feel two years from now by how you feel after six months with your routine. Some things become a habit that is rarely shaken, and other things that never seemed like they would be a problem, at some pointdo become a problem. Be willing to adjust along the way and fight fight fight the tendency to judge your worth by the look of your body. It ends up getting in the way of overall peace.
Geez. This just has to be the last video like this. I listen to because I actually knew just about everything. Yeah I admit I don’t do it all, but I know it. But I have to say what the heck is he talking about in terms of white women in target? I don’t know where he lives, but there are plenty of white women and the targets I go to. I know because I go to a lot of discount places where I look around and realize I’m one of the few white people there. Maybe I missed out on meeting my true love at higher scale stores, but I own property and have a pension. Lived below my means. Now I can afford a trainer.
Perimenopause is no joke. I’ve always been an avid runner and have been active and lean up until about 3 months ago when the days got shorter and due to weather I just stopped running. sudenly put on 11 lbs, even though I eat the same, I have zero energy or motivation to force myself to do at home hiit or sprint against this windy crappy weather. I am not getting enough sleep, tired all day, drinking too much coffee hoping it will give me that burst of energy I need to melt this sudden unexpected fat belly off.💥 But nothing is workin. Just tired and fat. 😞
Find something you'll be willing to do indoors- elliptical machine, yoga, dumbbell workouts, even just stepping in place while watching TV. The energy level might start to rise if you up your activity again- just have to grind out that first week or two (even if you're tired and the workouts feel crappy) to get the ball rolling again. My mom is 70 years old, overweight, and needs both knees replaced but found chair yoga a few months ago and it's made a big difference in her energy and mobility. Rooting for you - good luck!
It's a bit much at times between trying to access if he's joking vs intaking important information. Lots of times he seems annoyed that others are not on his level.
Dr. Gabrielle, Dr. Mike, Dr. Layne and Menno are my go to’s for all things fitness and nutrition personally. As a 65yr.old dude I’m still staying tuned up with all their combined expertise. The Best! 🇺🇸

I've come to realize that I struggle with carbs in the sense that they do not work for my satiety. I keep to lean meats and proteins, healthy fats, and greens, fruits and vegetables to make up most of my carbs and fiber intake. If I am getting enough protein and fats, than I don't feel as much the need for potatoes, wheat by-products, etc....I will still have potatoes once or twice every 15 days or so, or when I really want them.
I wish that were true for me. It’s not just totally a matter of society for me. It’s also a pleasure. I went through a period of about a year and a half experimenting, and I never felt as truly satisfied after a no carb meal. I can’t describe it. It was not that I was still hungry. I guess some people might say I was addicted but at this point, I don’t freaking care. I don’t eat very many flower products. I cut sugar down to 10 added grams a day nearly 5 years ago, I cut my carbs from 60% to 26% for about a year and it made only a .1 drop in my A1c. I eat through whole grains cooked in water. Nothing dried and ground. And I love the texture and the way they soak up the flavor of seasonings. I like Dr. Mike but I honestly do not consider him to be a longevity expert and I don’t know if that’s how this was promoted because I’m waffling about listening to nearly 2 more hours on this topic after the hundreds I’ve already spent. The truth of the matter is people lose weight all kinds of ways because there are different ways that people feel enough pleasure and society from their foods. And if two isocaloricdiets that include a deficit have the same amount of protein, and it doesn’t matter whether the deficit comes from the fats or carbs. People lose weight. It’s what they enjoy the most inconsistent year after year.
After losing 50 pounds in about 8 months the just cycling the same 10 pounds for almost 10 months -the diet fatigue is real. I lost the weight mostly with 1200 calories, super clean protein + veggies and walking 1 hour a day, now I'm looking to lose the last 20 - 30ish with doing more of a recomp build muscle/lose fat way. Hearing someone talk about the diet fatigue is so validating. I've been beating myself up because I just haven't been able to get back to the super clean low calorie I was in for so long and now I'm realizing it's OK to take a bit to live life, build back some muscle for a bit before I jump back into doet mode at a more moderate calorie deficit.
I have to admit it is real. I was able to take off 40 pounds. I gained in middle age by adopting a much more reasonable diet and taking it slow. I kept it off for 12 years. I actually still have kept it off but at one point, my weight dipped another 10 pounds lower for a period of years. Then recently, I had a small relapse and I put on 8 pounds of fat. I’m 71 and it ended up driving me, just barely into the prediabetic zone, which I have been trying to fight for the previous two years using all kinds of protocols. Don’t even offer me any because I’ve heard it. I’ve already cut so many things from my diet, and I don’t miss most of them, but the idea of having to get really precise again at my age has been daunting. I finally feel some real sympathy for much heavier people who hit a plateau long before their desired lower weight. I don’t honestly believe everybody is supposed to be slim but I know that I did maintain about 10 pounds fewer for several years. Maybe it’s not possible after age 70. Or I shouldn’t say not possible because some people do it, but it might take a kind of precision that Isn’t worth the pay off. I’m toying with getting a meal service for a few days of the week because I just don’t have the motivation anymore to prepare the meals I used to. They weren’t fancy, but they did take prepping ahead of time. It never seemed like a lot of work before, but now it does. Best luck to all of us.
@@oolala53 I’m almost 60 and the meal service ads are really tempting me too. I opted to go and get the prepared meals like lean cuisine at the grocery store although they are somewhat high in sodium. My blood pressure is excellent on my meds so I’m sticking with that for now. They are half the price of the delivery meal services. However, most times for lunch I just have the pre-washed spinach and arugula mix, cherry tomatoes, and pre-cooked chicken on top for my protein. I’m not really interested in cooking these days.
I love resistance training. It's one of the few exercises I can still do (in moderation and not heavy weights, just body weight, bands, and a set of 3kg dumbells), after 24 years of rheumatoid arthritis. I'm 50 in a couple of months. I usually do three 15 mins sessions a day. I break it up like that to put less stress on my damaged joints. Even if my joints ache afterwards, they are more mobile. And more muscle over time will support them better. I started a high protein, low carb, whole food, no refined sugar lifestyle 8 months ago as I have a significant amount of weight to lose. I am pretty sedentary, so set my daily calories to 1200. So far I have lost 57lb at an average of 1.5 to 2lb a week. I've got about another 50lb to go before I am personally satisfied with the amount lost. I was always kind of stocky and strong before RA and was very happy at a UK size 14 (US size 10). I'd not want to go below that. But one thing is for certain, I have been losing fat and gaining muscle over these last 8 months. Fair enough, I've got some loose skin going on and my boobs look like a couple of deflated wind socks, but rather that than drop dead from some metabolic disease. There's always shapewear and compression stuff.

The fact that nobody talks about censored book called The 23 Former Doctor Truths by Lauren Clark really gets to me. Always loved people like Rachel, she opens our eyes
Is the information from that book peer reviewed? There are plenty of doctors out there writing books and making claims. They often say cherry picked evidence.
Whether someone call somebody else fat or not, is not easy. You can see all kinds of examples of people online calling somebody else fat who’s actually just not really super thin. Or vice versa, some heavy woman on a diet post and says that someone called her fat, and everybody says, no girl, you look good. You’re not fat. There’s so much emotion involved in it. And so much shame. I’d like to see Dr. Gabriel have some reason that her body puts on 40 pounds and see if she can manage her self-esteem. Because the shaming in the culture is just incredible. I’m also glad to hear him say that he hast to do it differently almost each time. This makes sense because the body keeps adjusting to conditions. Hasn’t it pretty much been shown that if you have lost weight before your body will tend to put fat on on reheating and the next time you try to lose, it will slow its metabolism more?
This was the podcast that I needed to accompany me on my glp1-journey. Thanks for putting all this incredibly thorough and valuable information into one talk. My ask: Could you do an episode on glp1 and pregnancy? From my experience, a lot of users are women of reproductive age like myself who are simultaneously thinking about weight loss and starting/ growing their family. My research so far is saying that I should be off the meds for at least two months before conceiving again. What's the evidence of glp1 before/ during/ after pregnancy? Especially since it's active in your body for so many weeks after the last injection. What about weight loss maintenance throughout that window between getting off and get back on the injection? What about micro dosing to support your weight maintenance? What do we actually know about intrauterine effects of glp1? Would really REALLY appreciate an episode on those questions. Thank you!!
Ideally you'd get to a healthy weight and maintain it un-medicated before getting pregnant. Although the drug companies would love to keep users on a maintenance dose for life. From what I've read current studies suggest these drugs can reduce fetal weight, growth, and survival. Induce major congenital anomalies and increase the risk of neonatal complications like jaundice, sepsis, and hypoglycemia. I wouldn't want to knowingly put those risks on my children.
To be candid, this information has been immensely beneficial to me. I have already commenced my diet. I have been listening to podcasts for some time now, so I am about to reduce my calorie intake. I have eight weeks until March 26, when I will resume my maintenance phase. Subsequently, I will either continue with weight loss or adjust my approach based on my progress at that time. However, this information has provided me with valuable insights and has helped me become more aware of my current dietary habits.
Dr. Mike is awesome. The only thing I didn't agree with him on was skim milk and his stance on peptides (Ozempic, etc.). No! If I want milk, I drink, in very small amounts and not very often, raw, grass fed whole milk or if that is not available - grass fed organic milk. I am still not convinced that these peptides that everyone is lining up to take are safe. Yes, they have some benefits but they also have some potential dire side effects (gastroparesis, thyroid/pancreatic cancer, etc.). Time will tell! Everything else is spot on.
I think the key is though getting that weight off you is going to give you way more benefits than whatever negative things happen. Maybe not the best option for somebody first trying to lose weight but for those who just can't do it which it looks to be almost everybody in this country that's obese for a long period of time they should probably get on these. Keep in mind these are peptides not actual drugs so they work with the body and are not a foreign agent like a drug is so that alone makes it a totally different class that we've never really studied before
Thank you so much !!!!!! I am in the middle of a 3 hour trip and found this while looking for something to listen to on the road. I have been on Zepbound for 8 months and lost 16 pounds and was getting discouraged but started Keto and intermittent fasting and am losing nicely while taking the shots which help me with cravings and appetite suppression. Great combo. I wanted to keep working out with my new calorie deficit but was like I could not get my butt up to do it and just had no drive to. Wondered what was wrong, your explanation of how the body tells you to stay put when you really cut calories and carbs is soo what is happening to me. I am glad to know what is going on and what I need to do. I was told to do 10k steps but was. Along excuses not to and now I will and get in my gym to get back to my weight lifting. Thank you so much for your expertise and sense of humor Dr. Mike. I loved this!!
Pretty interesting around 51:00 talking about how some people get lazier when they eat. I was obese as a kid when it was only me and one other kid who were fat, back in the late 60's, early 70's. I 100% believe I have a genetic tendency to gain and hold onto weight.
Losing to normal lean is very different than getting down to very low body fat. People see these crazy skinny bodies on shows, in movies, and they think they want that. They don't realize that most Hollywood people are miserable, hungry, moody, stressed. Get healthy, not super lean
I don’t think those people actually feel that way. I think a lot of them have the right set point for that kind of media thin. We’re just so used to seeing them that we think it’s somehow normal. I woke up when I examined the average BMI in countries throughout the world and saw that most women were aiming at a BMI that was actually lower than the average BMI in countries that actually had a problem with having enough food for their population. When you look at the world statistics commonly it’s mostly poor countries that have BMI is under 23. There’s an online calculator that shows what women of the same age and height think is ideal weight and it’s almost always around BMI 22. But by world statistics it’s mostly poor countries in Africa, and poor or moderate wealth countries in Asia that have that average BMI for women.
There is another population that often doesn't get their steps in. I remember going to a talk by retired pro cyclist Tyler Hamilton. He described a typical cyclist's non-exercise activity (during active training season) this way: never walk when you can ride; never stand when you can sit, never sit when you can lie down. This is a fun example of a case where blanket statements like 10,000 steps a day isn't relevant. When I've been training for Ironman triathlons, unless it's run day, I might not get in 10,000 steps but I might get in 4k in the pool and 100k on my bike. Relatives will still recommend that I get in 10,000 steps because 'sitting is the new smoking." Unfortunately, we've become too lazy to measure caloric expenditure without dummied-down references aimed at the moderately active (or inactive) general population. A big issue with all of this - fitness, diet, health - is we've trained ourselves to not use our brains either. It's not just our muscles that are atrophying. Podcasts like this are great exercise for the mind. Thank you so much for this!
That “10,000 steps, daily” came from a Japanese company that used a symbol for”10,000” that was used on an “activity counter”. That then became a mantra for people!
Oh great Mike! Sweet nutrition is next for me now my eating disorder is managed. I have the opposite problem now of not feeling like eating much so have to be picky about my options as I don’t want to waste my interest on non-helpful foods🎉
You can use something like MFP to give you a ballpark starting number (it’s never going to be particularly accurate with labels allowed to up to 20 % inaccurate and the fact that people misreporting their food intake by 20% on average ). It does give you a starting point and then make changes based on changes in body composition (or lack of changes).
Neuroscientist Stephan Guyenet, who is an expert on body mechanisms and fatness has said that only about 30% of our activities and he means movement and food choices, etc. RNR conscious control. Even if you increase your targeted exercise, as the doctor said, it’s likely the body will send signals not to move very much. If you thought that, it could still be likely that the body will slow the metabolism or possibly not use calories on some process because they’ve been expended in movement. Even Dr. Mike has hired somebody else because the wording the bodies mechanisms is not as simple as we would like it to be. And every person who claim success, and I’m one of them, can never guarantee that their program is gonna have the same effect and have the same ease with anybody else.
Love Love Love this podcast! Both are amazing and together even more so. So I’m at minute 42……is Dr Lyon saying she is low fat??? I always thought she was higher fat! I’m just curious as to clarity on that!
While GLP-1's might help with things like food noise, cigarettes, alcohol, etc. It also hits the good habits too like working out, healthy libido. Also, if you're looking at health insurance, they will rate you at a higher risk class for taking GLP-1's. New class action lawsuit against ozempic side effects in-progress too.
Never once heard of any of these studies about working out going down or sex. In fact I'd make the argument in a good one at that that those things increase because once people start to lose weight they start to feel better about themselves which has been proven over and over again to be a huge reason why people do work out and why they do have sex. Sorry but I don't trust your info even a little bit
I do not comment often at all on videos. Halfway through this video, I'm close to giving up on it, love the information, HATE the crazy amount of ad's, ridiculous. Trying to work and listen to this, stopping every few min to skip an ad is dumb. Great information though
IKR? I am surprised they didn't talk about what these drugs do to muscle. I am hearing from other reputable doctors - it kills muscle. Not good...Also, if you aren't eating aren't you totally messing up your metabolism?
@@staceymccownhill1229 you don’t mess up your metabolism just by not eating. At least not right off the bat. The body adjust its metabolism because of fat loss. If you lose weight, you are going to need fewer calories than the same weight person who never lost and when you put weight back on from feeding, which is a very strong urge, you’re likely to gain more fat. The next time you have a deficit, your body will act to preserve and will adjust its calorie use differently because the body is more afraid of famine than it is of over eating.
I think one of the major reasons is that people cannot accept that their body is not going to necessarily cooperate with the habits that are needed to change your body composition. Even if doing that is better for you in a long run. People hate their fat so much that they think they’re going to be able to do anything And they don’t anticipate that their resolve is going to get tested over and over and over. Sometimes someone will stumble on some protocol that seems relatively easy to them, but even though it can become difficult after a year or two. Plus, we live in a culture that’s incredibly indulgent so you have to be such an outlier
It does not kill muscle, any diet where you lose more than 2 pounds a week will cause you to lose muscle, whether it’s keto or surgery or calorie deficit, etc when you’re losing weight more than 2 pounds a week 20 to 25% of it is muscle and that’s the same percentage for GLP1…. a good doctor should not prescribe it without prescribing strength training. Unfortunately, most doctors in the United States do not prescribe exercise or nutrition. It has incredible benefits as a tool in the tool box when you are doing “all the things” with it.
Dr. Lyon, how about people that don’t eat all day but night time comes around and they eat everything they can get a hold on. Then go to sleep. In reality, they could be eating 1,500 calories in one meal but then nothing gets used for energy… could that be causing them to gain weight? I have clients that tell me, I only do 1 meal at night 🤔 I can’t figure this one out…
Yes and no. Calorie timing doesnt really matter if they are in really in deficit. So either they are not tracking properly or they NEAT or any activity is dropping like crazy, so their burn a lot less calories. Another think could be that they dont eat enough protein, so they are losing muscle and gaining fat.
More likely they’re over eating bc they’re super hungry at that point. Your body will use your fat stores during the day then it will store the excess at night after you eat.
I'd almost guarantee you that they're adding their calories up or on. People are probably chewing six pieces of gum a day at 15 calories a piece there's a hundred there then adding sugar to their coffee for another couple hundred calories with cream by the night time they've already consumed 500 calories that they never accounted for
At 61 and 10 yrs post meno, I have been stuggling with losing and slowly the lbs are creeping up. I workout with weights 3-4 times per week, walk 10000 to 12000 steps daily, 2x stretch sessions on top. I sleep pretty good but have this 50 yr old eating disorder that knocks on my door every couple of weeks. I know I need some hard core rewiring in this neuroplastic pathway of mine. I prob have about 30lbs to lose but would be happy with losing just 15! So frustrating! Thanks for the great info, might take my 1500 daily cals down to 1300 "again" what's an older gal to do? 😢
I have to recommend you try hiring a coach to lead you through a reverse diet. I know you’re in the older woman group, but I am maintaining my weight at 2000 calories/day and doing just about as much as you workout-wise! I had trashed my metabolism as well. But doing a steady reverse diet over the last 2 months has revved it back up. And now I’m not going to have to cut on 1100 cal/day anymore. I was skeptical too, but my own lived experience has shown me that it can be done. Maybe yours won’t be as high as mine, but even getting to 1800/day maintenance would be a win for you (assuming I’m reading what you’re writing correctly.)
I have to be an abstainer. I can cut the junk for months but whenever I go to try and moderately consule my favorite junk, I transition to being a fatty. I think i'm better of alternating planned perdiods of going cold turkey on the junk throughout the year.
100% about the process. If you could press a button and achieve your desired results, the rest of the world would press the same button, and there would be nothing to differentiate you from everyone else.
Not all calories are treated the same by the body though. Eating a nut wholesale, a lot of the calories aren't going to be absorbed but break that nut down into a paste and more of the calories will be absorbed.
For me, I can count calories and eat within recommended allowance while eating all macros and gain weight. I can do keto and not count calories and lose weight.

Meat is bad for you?
“You look Jacked… not very tanned, but jacked” 😂
Greg Doucette video incoming 🎉
I came to the comments to look for the Greg comments 😂
I love Dr. Mike! I am down 108lbs and watching his videos have kept me going.
Love his sense of humor & super calming voice! This advice was so help, especially the last part about going back to maintenance when you reach deficit fatigue - thank you so much!
But hers sucks
@@elperrocovero No need to be mean tho.
@ why cause she’s a woman?
Im currently following his advice, I've lost 85 pounds this year and it's been so motivating to prove i can keep the weight off before I continue to lose more.
@@lucashenderson703 WOW congrats! That's incredible. You should be so proud of yourself!
Lose not loose
I think I am in love with his voice❤
Perimenopause is no joke. I’ve always been an avid runner and have been active and lean up until about 3 months ago when the days got shorter and due to weather I just stopped running. sudenly put on 11 lbs, even though I eat the same, I have zero energy or motivation to force myself to do at home hiit or sprint against this windy crappy weather. I am not getting enough sleep, tired all day, drinking too much coffee hoping it will give me that burst of energy I need to melt this sudden unexpected fat belly off.💥
But nothing is workin.
@@WebWheeler good advice, thank you.
@@HH-gv8mx sadly he didn’t address that! I was disappointed.
You might need hormones from your doctor to correct the imbalance.
Just add a weighted vest to your normal every day activities. You'll drop belly fat super fast.
It is insanely refreshing to hear these 2 praise the fact that glp1 peptides have a place in the modern world.

Potatoes definitely are a great filling carb source 🥔
Interesting! I'm almost exactly the opposite.
Dr. Israetel 👏👏 prep is different every time 👏👏 no joke. Appreciate the honesty bc some make it sound like a prep is sooo easy
Oh damn I saw dr mike's first appearance a while back, I'm glad he is here in person this time, thank you for inviting him Dr Lyon
Since I am following "Dr Mike's fad loss diet" I am really sustaining ❤

Is the information from that book peer reviewed? There are plenty of doctors out there writing books and making claims. They often say cherry picked evidence.

My two favorite people!!! Thanks for sharing your expertise.
thank you. ❤
Excellent podcast !
Best information I've heard in a podcast
This was fantastic
Only Mike worthy that much commercials. Great info as always ❤
Keep in mind these are peptides not actual drugs so they work with the body and are not a foreign agent like a drug is so that alone makes it a totally different class that we've never really studied before
325 lbs to 225 lbs in 5 months eating all the meat I could not exercising at all. Carnivore rules! I work out now.

Two of the best!
Pretty interesting around 51:00 talking about how some people get lazier when they eat. I was obese as a kid when it was only me and one other kid who were fat, back in the late 60's, early 70's. I 100% believe I have a genetic tendency to gain and hold onto weight.
Maybe the gut biome your mom passed on at birth or a possible head injury. I bit an electrical cord at 3 & then was on my first diet at 5 years old!
Losing to normal lean is very different than getting down to very low body fat. People see these crazy skinny bodies on shows, in movies, and they think they want that. They don't realize that most Hollywood people are miserable, hungry, moody, stressed. Get healthy, not super lean
agreed❤ focusing on building muscle and maintaining a healthy body fat percentage is way more sustainable
Enjoyed this. Would love to hear a conversation with Keto Savage too!
Love this
17:15 “I’ve heard” shout out to Greg 😂
You two are awesome!
Proper science for a change
Best interview- so much common sense
Love you both
Oh great Mike! Sweet nutrition is next for me now my eating disorder is managed. I have the opposite problem now of not feeling like eating much so have to be picky about my options as I don’t want to waste my interest on non-helpful foods🎉
Haha this was a funny episode! Love seeing you two joking together.
Fat loss made simple, and in only a two hours explanation. Lordy
awesome. thanks,
You can use something like MFP to give you a ballpark starting number (it’s never going to be particularly accurate with labels allowed to up to 20 % inaccurate and the fact that people misreporting their food intake by 20% on average ). It does give you a starting point and then make changes based on changes in body composition (or lack of changes).
Love Doc Mike - oreos, half a reeses, cheeseburger, one cheeto - the man knows his junk food
I'm always confused on the protien, is it current weight, or the weight you want to be?
Unfortunately no talk about the downsides and dangers of those GLP/GLI drugs.
People are probably chewing six pieces of gum a day at 15 calories a piece there's a hundred there then adding sugar to their coffee for another couple hundred calories with cream by the night time they've already consumed 500 calories that they never accounted for
Nobody does it better than Mike? My own performance would argue otherwise. There was a lot more than a bad suntan.
So happy to hear that 0.6g protein per pound body weight is sufficient.
love the bullets analogy 😎 😂
Fun, entertaining & full of great tips 👍👍👍
Get your hormones checked and do HRT if needed!
do carnivore
Wow, that is me to a tee; except a man. 54, and 30 lb would put me at 15%ish fat. If I could give up the crazy snacking, I’d be fine. Best of luck.
Really wanted to watch this, but the number of adverts is so OTT!😮
I have to be an abstainer. I can cut the junk for months but whenever I go to try and moderately consule my favorite junk, I transition to being a fatty. I think i'm better of alternating planned perdiods of going cold turkey on the junk throughout the year.

100% about the process. If you could press a button and achieve your desired results, the rest of the world would press the same button, and there would be nothing to differentiate you from everyone else.
Two of my faves! It’s like peanut butter and jelly
If you need 2 hours to make a point for fat loss being simple…
Not all calories are treated the same by the body though. Eating a nut wholesale, a lot of the calories aren't going to be absorbed but break that nut down into a paste and more of the calories will be absorbed.
For me, I can count calories and eat within recommended allowance while eating all macros and gain weight. I can do keto and not count calories and lose weight.
Yea the only problem I have with keto is that I need to add a lot of salts and potassium or I feel easily sick without carbs for what ever reason
Mike is trying to get Dr. Lyon a Lamborghini !! IYKYK
