People commenting about these as "only really studio tools" are completely missing the point - the whole idea of these pedals is that effects that you could only usually get via (an engineer) "knob-twiddling" in the studio (or applying momentary/temporary effects in post-production) can be achieved live via *automating* (hence the name) the envelopes/thresholds/etc. One of the most obvious uses would be to set reverb/delay to increase when you play higher pitches, so they would effectively only engage for solos and be silent or minimal for rhythm playing. You wouldn't even need to touch the pedal live in this case. They should really have demonstrated this properly, as it's something simple that even Lee could grasp ;) Also, that gated effect shown on Pete's video is really nice, could get some great experimental effects with that.
I personally have little use for most of what Game Changer produces, but they are very creative. They avoid cliches and clones. They deserve credit for cleverness and originality, two attributes that are largely missing in the pedal world.
It is the best thing I've seen ever! This is exactly a concept I've dreamt about, and experimented with myself, not surprised this would be the guy to bring it to market, and so well implemented. Please, please add a tremolo/slicer type pedal to line up!! Also how someone can be this involved of an engineer and have the time, skills, and dedication to make it a business as well is beyond me! Amazing!
Great and innovative pedals. But everyone knows that Lee doesn't like anything that's not simple, and that he's having a hard time focusing whenever he's not interested in something. Pete (or anyone else) would have been a better match for this demo XD
@jerryhorton5708 Well it's not just a question of using them in a live performance. For some people sound design is very important for recording. They want to get the perfect sound and they can tweak it with these devices and the more elaborate pedals. I have some pedals that are much more advanced in the controls and I find that I can get some incredible tones when I sit down and work it out. I do a lot of recording so that's important.
@@Joe-mz6dc Oh, I agree - these are fantastic studio tools. Not going on my pedalboard as I need what I need when I need it and then I have to entertain (I think...) But there are a ton of terrific things that can be used in the studio. Likewise for live. I love the sounds I am hearing on this video, but I'm not convinced I would use them live
This. The whole "I only like the old ways" is getting pretty annoying and is a disservice to the guest. To Lee's credit, he did admit that he just doesn't know what to play to demonstrate the various subtleties but, knowing that, why did he not choose to get somebody like Digital John or maybe a special guest spot with Rabea?
This pedal is before it's, I love that it can react to your picking dynamics because some pedals sounds loud when you play soft and some compresses you dig in so, these pedals are for "music makers not just players"
Great to see a company doing something new in the pedal space. These pedals will be inspirational to many. Shame Lee seems to have a very closed mindset if it’s not for blues based music. Ed O’Brien will be all over these.
These are absolutely insane and if they can be integrated with semi-modular or modular synths you are are going to hear some next level audio effects for guitars in the future.
I have pre-ordered a reverb, i would love them all! Was blessed to have a quick go at Synth and Pedal expo back in Feb. Would love a fuzz with pitch control - imagine having mad gain high up and subtle fuzz on chords. So excited for these!
I cannot wait for these. I pre-ordered all three at the beginning and have been waiting for an in-depth video. Thanks, Captain! I have just started my synth journey too and as a guitar player I am hoping these are the bridge between the two.
Great devices. I'm pretty sure I would spend hours, days playing with them even not noticing when day comes into night, night into day and so on. I can imagine spending all the weekend with it without eating and sleeping :). Would be glad to have it.
These are sweet! Love Gamechanger. Would like to see Pete doing these since he actually gets excited about most pedals and would have had a blast and found some awesome musicality. But it shows how cool these actually are if Cap is interested in modulation at all. Haha
I feel bad for Gamechanger Audio and Lee. You can tell that Lee was like WTF do I do with these pedals, and I think that he even felt bad about it as well. Gamechanger Audio is doing things differently and I applaud them for it. Please correct me if I am wrong but most pedals today are nothing more than circuits (with slight tweak's) that have been done for decades based off old designs and not much more really. It's just nice to see a company trying to do something different.
Gamechanger always has the most interesting idea for pedals! I like that when you set the pedals to intensity, it's effectively making chorus/delay/reverb behave like overdrive pedals, getting more of the effect the harder you play. The ability to tie the effect to other parameters like pitch is also cool - an overdrive with the gain tied to pitch could also be cool. Maybe that'll be their next pedal. 😅
Game Changer is doing wonderful things here. I like the reverb more than the chorus, wish there was a Auto Series matrix expander to send/receive MIDI to and from non Auto Series pedals, multifx and synths.
Classic episode! I enjoyed watching this, I appreciate Lee’s honesty and the other guy’s patience. And of course those pedals are awesome. If the delay pedal would transform into a tubescreamer when it detects a pentatonic scale it would be perfect 😂.
The wrong Person doing the Demonstration , great Gear again from these Guys, I like the idea of being even more interactive while playing Guitar or Bass Guitar.
These are extremely cool! I understand the learning curve that Lee is having but wow, the possibilities. I could see using a eurorack sequencer to do all kinds of cool stuff. What is really cool is that they seem to be great standard pedals without all of the "auto" stuff then you can add the auto features to try new crazy things.
Amazing idea, brilliantly put together. Seems to be an incredible company, looking forward to getting one or two of these. Thanks for the demo! Can’t help feeling Lee is more of an on/off kind of effect guy though, quite a few speechless parts where it seemed like he was thinking ‘what’s the point’?
I absolutely love this!!! I already have hundreds of ideas to create unique yet very usable sounds. I think it would be a good idea to bring someone along who already knows how to use these pedals effectively. I’m sure many more people would recognise the brilliance of the pedals and in what ways they could incorporate them into their own creative processes. Nothing against Lee of course, but his discomfort is probably going to scare people off more than anything. And that’s so unfortunate, because these pedals are so extremely well designed and a blessing for anyone with a creative mind that can think beyond the boundaries of all those blues driven guitarists out there. And I don’t mean to say that blues players can’t be creative of course. 🧡🧡🧡
Very innovating love the features and if you spend a bit of time with these you’d soon become very capable at getting some awesome sounds. I don’t think age has anything to do with the capability of the pedals you either get it or you don’t ,for us older guys it helps with the brain function the more challenging the more benefit .
A serious lack of imagination on Lee's part, what's not to 'get' about having a little slap reverb when you are playing the rhythm part with a load of reverb and delay added automatically when you start the solo for example? ... or some chorus automatically added when you play that quiet part in the middle of the song? I'm a very simple player and I can see the point immediately. Lee just looks confused all the way through this like "OK, it works but why?"
Perhaps, like me, he just doesn’t like the ‘overly modern’ sound 😏 of these effects … I like Gamechanger as a company, and most of their products to date, though.
These are some crazy cool and innovative machines!!! Seriously cool gear and a serious cool guy! I thought it was a good demonstration because that’s how as a blues player I would have done it. I wouldn’t know what to do with these either, but you’d still get an idea of the possibilities. Creativity abound!
I’m proud of Lee for stepping out of his comfort zone, maybe smoke a big one before the demo next time. You could’ve added a couple minutes at the end of Pete’s playing though
These pedals are less of an effect and more of an extension of the capabilities of the guitar or whatever you plug in. It should work with voice too. It's not something you just plug in and hit record; it takes some practice laps around the track to get the control under your fingers. This is fascinating stuff!
a thing I see clearly is how to integrate into existing songs/performances - if you know your rig and your songs, things like setting up a reverb for soft parts v loud parts would be really easy. It's not just about crazy experimentation - it's simply getting something like the verb or delay integrated with an existing set-up with songs in mind - by calibrating ones' guitar and rig. IMHO also not about style necessarily it's just the work in setting up - not unlike any other process (programming a modeler at one end - and just setting a simple pedal-board at the other)
I get it but also don’t. You can have “Chicken n Chips” and it tastes great, you can chuck some pedals (herbs) at it to improve it or change the flavour, there is only so much you can throw at it before you either ruin it or make the recipe too complicated. Its great but its also something you will set and forget in a live environment. A lot of companies focus on the how much it can do not the how this will help the live player

It's not Capt.'s fault- this just isn't his thing- I get it, it's not my thing either and I wouldn't have been any better at demoing this stuff. They needed someone like Pete or one of the younger guys who are really into crazy effects and stuff. I mean for us it's just an awkward UA-cam video, but for Game Changer this is a big deal- I feel awful for them, that's a lot of money, effort, and passion they put into this release, and I'm sure they expected quiet the reception. The last thing we want is for companies like this to start playing it safe- please keep rolling the dice Game Changer, you've already came up with some really innovative, cool, fun stuff- we don't want that to stop. Maybe Capt. could schedule a time for you guys to come back when there's someone available that can really demo this stuff. No offense Capt.- like I said, I'm right there with you- but you have to admit, we suck at stuff like this.
Nah, just look at the comment section. The target audience for these pedals definitely understood what they are offering and are genuinely excited about them. Being on Anderton's YT channel is about reach, and in that aspect I'd say it was a successful demo. They will definitely see a sales boost from this spot.
It'd be cool if hx or something else would allow for this kind of editing. I usually do this inside of Ableton, I have patched stuff in order to give me harmonic tremolos, or have tremolos that speed up/slow down based on intensity. So I'll strum a chord and it'll tremolo fast and it slows down as it gets quieter, or viceversa. (I used to love doing this in Reason, the perfect daw for this kind of stuff)
