I can't even believe how awesome Sid is. He left so much money on the table just for the sake of the team's cap space. He literally might be the most unselfish person ever.

Canadian Media punching the air right now.
    “Crosby out of Pittsburgh? “
    “ Crosby to Montreal “

I LOL'ed that after all that. It was basically the same deal he's had for the past 12 years. Love it though. I wonder if that means he plans on playing just 2 more years after this. It definitely brings me into a retrospective view of his career and to stop taking him for granted, because there will truly never be another one like him.

As a fellow Maritimer who lived 10 minutes from where Sid grew up I said it time and time again this captain will go down with his ship and 8.7 mil this is a team first guy now I just hope the rest of the team really gives him some help this year

8.7 aav again. Cheers thanks Sid for being so superstitious with the number 87. It's helped the Penguins get more talent around him to help win championships. Cheers Sid 🎉

I figured he would resign for 8.7m/year. He could've signed for more, but going into his late 30s, I don't think he cares to make more, and he wants to help this team.

This camp is going to be very interesting. There are several players that could be lost on waivers, if they don't make the NHL roster. There are also several prospects that could see some NHL time this season, even if they don't make the opening day roster.

Glad you mentioned tristan broz. I think he looked like the best player on the ice in all 3 games. Mcgroarty looked good as well. Ponomarev had a great game against the senators. Brunicke can really skate for a kid with his size. I think this pens prospect pool might be grossly underrated. Sabres and senators both have top 10 to top 15 prospect pools and other then juri kulich for the Sabres the penguins looked like they had the best prospects. Juri kulich looks like he could become a really good player for sabres

What did you think of Brunicke? To me he’s looked like the best dman in every single game. I never watched him before this tournament so I was shocked how good he looks. Genuinely looks like he’s got #1 dman potential

His puck-moving skills are off the charts. Hes so smart with the way he outthinks players on the ice and is also such a shifty player. Hes looked good

That right there is why I put so much emphasis in the summer on the need to load up the prospect pool with 2nds and 3rds. You just never know.
Teams throw them away like candy. Hoard them. Weaponize cap space to get more. You'll hit on some.
We used them to win Cups. Letang, Guentzel, Murray, Rust...

THIS IS A REASON WHY (mostly) EVERYBODY LIKES/RESPECTS CROSBY. I honestly really hope this makes a statement in the league if the Penguins go deep in the next 3 years. I don't blame players for demanding more money. It's no different than questioning management for a pay raise at work when you've been a great asset to their business/franchise for years. Which rises the sporting question again. would you rather win or make bank? There's no wrong answer here, only just subtle consequences. And if you do both, then you're something special and definitely worth the peak you're earning. Man, I'm so glad I got to see the greatest Captain of our era play, and score! It'll be a hockey night in Pittsburgh soon, I can't wait.

Yup I thought it would be 3 but I wonder if he just takes a one year deal after this one (if he wants to keep playing), otherwise I think he calls it a career - Hunter

Two years takes Sid to the end of Geno's contract. Geno's said that, after his contract ends, he wants to go back to Russia to play in the KHL, to finish out his career. Does Sid re-up for two more, to take it to the end of Letang's contract...I'd be surprised if he didn't.

This 2-3 million he saved the Pens will come into play later on when they make a move for a legit top 6 player/top 4 D just wait. I can almost guarantee he's been in contact with Dubas about every single move made now and the future

Rutger McGroarty looks like a passer in his highlights. Hopefully his goals and assists are analogous to Matthew Tkachuks. Hopefully RM goes to the net like Tkachuk.

    • @JohnSmith-jb2jf
      @JohnSmith-jb2jf 7 днів тому +1

He's def a passer, based on his college numbers.
He produced something like Stepan in the same league. That may be a reasonable ceiling projection for him.
I'm expecting him to be a middle-sixer for most of his career. Production like Kapanen perhaps, or a little bit better.
