This looks like a super practical setup. I’m definitely giving this a solid try during turkey season. Thank you for making the setup clear with this video! You just plain rock!!
Hi Blackie! After ten days of spring like weather, I am back to dead of winter with snow on the ground. That is March for ya! That is a very nice tarp. It looks stout and very well put together. I appreciate all the practical tips you offer on the Squire Lodge set-up.
I've seen a lot of setups, this is up top of the easy ones to set up in a hurry and looks really good for bad weather. I'm definitely going to try this one. Thanks Blackie.
I’m always impressed by the variety of ways a tarp can be set up! Great video Blackie! You’re making this younger guy learn all he can of the old ways of doing things so tomorrow will be a brighter day than yesterday!
That's a nice setup, I was wondering about the mosquitos, ticks and creepy crawlies. That's a great idea letting the campfire smoke in the tent for a while to help reduce the bugs. Thanks for the video.👍⛺
Hi Blackie. Great video once again. I am very impressed with everyone you post. I just wish I could of had this knowledge 20 years earlier when I was into "roughing it ". My old body can't take sleeping on the ground anymore so it's a pop up trailer for me. However I still try out most of your tips to teach my 4 year old grandson the art of basic camping. He watches your videos with me and hopefully he will continue to be a subscriber long after I'm gone. Best of luck with your videos. Looking forward to your next one.
Blackie , Another Great Video and Outstanding Information, Thanks for teaching me more stuff, I've normally do a lean to or pup tent style. Thank You for sharing your time and knowledge and passing on the craft. You Are The Master Woodsman and Buschcrafter.
I have seen this set up before but can’t remember where. You did an amazing job of explaining the how to. Thanks. Once the weather breaks I am heading out to practice.
Love seeing how other people do their setup. Definitely would be hot in the summer or if sunlight is hitting any of it.would be great today with the single digit windchill and 20 degree high temperature in Michigan. Have fun stay safe.
I got the same tarp from Bombproof It came in the mail first of the week great well built tarp. You could almost put a cot down the center. can you do the tarp set up you did when we camped at Duggar mtn. you had a cot on one side and gear and small table on the other side,
I do a setup like this for a hunting blind with a camo 8x8 burlap. Have the door part at a tree and just stake the back out. Few slits to look out and leaned up on the tree.
Thank you, Blackie! That's an interesting way to setup a tarp. I'm wondering; ^If^ a rectangular tarp is is all I've got, how could I make it work? I'll have to try to figure out how to do it w/, say, an 8' x 10' tarp. I think I can 'adjust' your technique to work. Have a GREAT day, Neighbor!
You can do it it’s basically a pup tent or an A frame tent with one end down lower and spread out. Go long way to make it bigger front to back go short side to make it taller or wider. Have fun be safe.
Blackie, I order a rucksacks. But it was a remake. I would like to find a good military surplus that sell the old surplus. I look though your old videos and can't find it. Please let me know. Thanks
I've just found your channel and I'm getting caught up on the ground pounder series. Sorry if this has been asked before but if I'm making my own tarp where do I put the tie outs? Thanks in advance.
How about doing something with setting up a tent or some kind of shelter in sandy soil or sand incorporating Dead-men for when the ground wont support tent pegs.
I'm surprised at the amount of room inside from what I would ordinarily call a way-too-small tarp! When you camp with a tarp you get creative, and tend to carry a lot of string. I love a tarp, you can set it up so you can see out, enclose it when you need to, and you can cook way safer under a tarp than in a tent.
This looks like a super practical setup. I’m definitely giving this a solid try during turkey season. Thank you for making the setup clear with this video! You just plain rock!!
You are so welcome!

Im catching up on some of your older videos....learning lots of stuff. Thanks
Nice to know you don't need a 10x10 tarp to make an enclosed tarp shelter.
yep
Outstanding video, as usual. You explained everything very well along with showing how to do it. Thank you.
Very welcome

It would be helpful if you would provide a photo or drawing of the terp that shows where the 21 tie outs are located.

I do a setup like this for a hunting blind with a camo 8x8 burlap. Have the door part at a tree and just stake the back out. Few slits to look out and leaned up on the tree.

You're welcome!
Thats pretty genius 👍 Im loving your videos
thank you
Nice
Thanks
Thank you, Blackie!
That's an interesting way to setup a tarp.
I'm wondering;
^If^ a rectangular tarp is is all I've got, how could I make it work?
I'll have to try to figure out how to do it w/, say, an 8' x 10' tarp.
I think I can 'adjust' your technique to work.
Have a GREAT day, Neighbor!
You can do it it’s basically a pup tent or an A frame tent with one end down lower and spread out. Go long way to make it bigger front to back go short side to make it taller or wider. Have fun be safe.
if you have a 8 x 10 to can put ties on lit by folding the extra 2 ft under and have the ties set up like a 8x8
Does this need to be treated for rainy weather? If so can you talk about that? I'd think it needs to breath but just how waterproof is it????
Sunforger treated canvas is water, mold, mildew and Iv resistant. It’s field ready.
correct its fully treated from the factory
really cool love the tarp
how long to get one and how much
go to bombproofbushcraft.com if you would like one they are not cheap but very well made and should last many yrs
Another good one. I’m wondering if the USMC tarp I have could do something like this.
its a bit small 7 x7 i think
Blackie, I order a rucksacks. But it was a remake. I would like to find a good military surplus that sell the old surplus. I look though your old videos and can't find it. Please let me know. Thanks
you can look at Army Navy Outdoors you might find what you're looking for there .
What kind of rucksack are you looking for?
look on ebay or sportsmans guide for german army alpine rucksack
@@BLACKIETHOMAS thanks
I've just found your channel and I'm getting caught up on the ground pounder series. Sorry if this has been asked before but if I'm making my own tarp where do I put the tie outs? Thanks in advance.
I have an Aqua Quest Defender 10x10 , will that work also?
Yep get out and try it. Have fun be safe.
yes it just make one with more room is all
Do you have a link for the tarp?
Does that have a zipper in the back? I'm missing something.
No zipper just spread the tarp out and peg down in the middle and two ends. Have fun be safe.
yep no zipper enter /exit thru front flaps
I wonder if Bombproof bushcraft has the tie out layout on their site.
i am not sure
I looked Didn't see it on there not a problem I'd like to cobble together a lightweight version for the grandkids
“Hang on loosely, but don’t let go... if you hold to tightly, your gonna loose control!”
How about doing something with setting up a tent or some kind of shelter in sandy soil or sand incorporating Dead-men for when the ground wont support tent pegs.
ok will do
Big “War Eagle” from Pa. Blackie
thank you and a war eagle back lol

it is a lot more room than you think like this
How many tie outs in total are on your 8×8 tarp?
21
War Eagle!
WAR EAGLE
Blackie, please show us Tarp Water💨💦🐦 collection
i added it tothe list today will do one soon
First comment and first like.
awesome thanks
I didn't see how the back door was made, it looked sewed.
No back door. Have fun be safe.
no door just how the tarp was staked down
War Eagle
WAR EAGLE
WINGS ON A TEEPEE
smoke flaps
Blackie, too bad you had to rush through this.
hey kept my stories short lol
You could wear a nicer shirt! Roll tide roll!
lol WAR EAGLE
$225 really
Thats due to sewing all those tieouts probably. If you gave a sailmakers awl and days and days of patience, you could make your own.
yep not cheap..but will last i paid close to that in the 1980s for my 10x10 i am retireing for this 8x8
and you dont have to use this tarp any 8x8 with tie outs will work
Also don't have a choice, what with cost of living here Bozeman. Stations to research winter shelters. Seriously
yep it can be rough out there
I need to send you a decent shirt to wear during your videos. You look pitiful!
Go Buckeyes!!!
lol nope i will stick with my tigers thanks
