- In this video we're listening to Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds once more. This time with PJ Harvey. We've been trying to get more into Nick Cave and his music, so we're interested in how he does with PJ Harvey in this one. Enjoy!

Polly Harvey- so difficult to pigeonhole. So mesmerising live. So difficult to choose one song...what about To Bring You My Love? They are all so different.
Many many tracks to check out from both Nick Cave, or, PJ Harvey
I've been into him since seeing him live at the Crystal Ballroom with Boys Next Door in the late 70's
I can't argue that Nick Cave was at his best around this period... accessibility is not a dirty word
Read about the recording of this video and more generally the Murder Ballads album. The context will add a lot. Nick Cave never stays in one place artistically which makes him a challenge. PJ Harvey is a very similar kind of artist. Well worth digging into.
One of the greatest duets of all time. You’re watching obsession, live & adulation on screen all at once. Everyone wants someone to look at them the way PJ looks at Nick
More murder ballads please? Lol it's morbid but some singers excel at murder lyrics, and obviously these are two!
I'm om my 3rd CD of Murder Ballads (for the car), who knew CDs wore out 🤐 This was done in one take as you can see. You might like "Tupelo", based on Elvis Presley and his twin Jesse who died at birth.
A dive into Polly Harvey would reap rewards I reckon,
'The mess we're in' has her dueting with Thom Yorke and is great imo.
If this is a sound you like rather than his earlier stuff, try "Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds ft. Kylie Minogue - Where The Wild Roses Grow"
finally you come around to this song
The song is related to the British folksong Love Henry - what's missing here is the part where the killer is reprimanded by the "little bird" who witnessed the event.
Could you react to some more Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds?
• From her to eternity (a song about neighbourhood, from his first album with the Bad Seeds, title song)
• I had a dream, Joe (some faster track)
• Loverman (a nice song about a stalker and rapist)
• Where the wild roses grow (featuring Kylie Minogue, yes, what a couple...; this song even hit the charts worldwide)
• Hallelujah (not Nick's cover of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah, that's fine too, but Nick's own Hallelujah about a writer's block)
• We came along this road (nice first line, nice piano playing)
• Jubilee Street (adjacent to Penny Lane?)
• Push the sky away (trance)
• Time Jesum transeuntum et non riverentum (probably a track for Halloween; no worries, only the title is in Latin)
• any song from the album “No more shall we part”
• Bright horses (inspired by the fatal accident of Nick's teenage son; probably a song about the discomfort of reality and the comfort of irreality)
Right up there with Paul weller as a songwriter
YESSSSSS!!
above in my opinion
Two greats, PJ is always fantastic. Check out Stagger Lee, it also has a fantastic story and the lyrics are the most profane in an entertaining way!
Which version? We've heard a few.
@@hanierfamily ua-cam.com/video/Nbe5RERDh4k/v-deo.html This one.
@@hanierfamily ua-cam.com/video/Nbe5RERDh4k/v-deo.html is the official video. Excellent song.
The sexual tension between these two is palpable!
Love,"Bring it On", from Peaky Blinders.
PJ Harvey is great, check out her solo stuff
This is deep, dark and disturbing, think you need to give it another listen. Great stuff though.
Leonard Cohen is also his thing
Nick and Polly have been in the romantic relationship and the emotions and tension are in this video
I'm surprised you haven't noticed / mentioned it
Pleasing reaction.
It *is* from Murder Ballads, so I dunno how much "fun" you're gonna have...it is a very beautiful song though. Nick and PJ were in a fairly passionate relationship at this point, and she continued to be his muse for quite a while.
mansize, good fortune and this is love are all worth checking out.
Paul Rodgers, Find a way. I've been trying to think of this title for quite a while
The guy watching this actually sounds like he could sing the voice of Nick?? he got a Deep voice man
I only just noticed this being up. Good. You're now seeing the dim light of Nick Cave.
Hay there I've been very very lucky to have seen PJ Harvey a long time ago i haven't seen Nick cave unfortunately but PJ WOW!!!! IS ALL I'LL SAY. Hahaha no it's not SHE'S THE FIRST QUEEN OF PUNKROCK AND A POET OF THE HIGHEST ORDER AND JUST AWESOME in my opinion
He's a bit of a national treasure in Australia and an icon in my city of Melbourne.. so, it's probably sacrilege of me to not like everything by Mr Cave
However this song, all of Murder Ballads, all of The Boatman's Call and some of his 80's and 90's work is my wheelhouse
Yay, Polly and Nick, the strippers 😝 Also murder balladeers! Excellent combo!
very cool
Polly Jean Harvey is better than you could ever imagine. Her best is her first 5 albums.
That is very debatable, Let England Shake is a masterpiece on par with any of her 90's stuff in my opinion.
Good to see you roaming through the great Australian/Kiwi songbook. If you can watch the hymnal "Into My Arms" by Nick Cave (has to be the official film clip) without a tear in your eyes, then you are way tougher than me 🙂
We have a reaction to that. I guess we didn't get it.
@@hanierfamily No problem. The film clip is very powerful and once seen will change your perspective. The live version does not do the song justice
can I be your cousin? You are always playing my playlist
My suggestion today is Eddie Grant, Baby come back , or Electric Avenue
We know Eddie Grant. Those two songs and 'I Don't Wanna Dance' were oddly popular on the East Coast.
@Hanier Family In my opinion, the greatest of all the reggae singers. Controversial, I know!
Zero comment about the music video (the fact that it's such a memorable MV makes it worse). You might as well have reacted to the track only.
