Last episode, we talked about what is the value of a mile and I showed you the exact calculation of how to derive it. So in today’s episode I will share about my valuation of a mile and how to maximise the value out of it.
Economy Class redemptions: 1.1 cpm to 1.7 cpm
Business Class & above redemptions: At least 2 cpm

Conclusion: Miles award tickets are more valuable for further destinations and higher class seats.

Frankly speaking, miles redemption for business class or first class is only applicable to solo or couple travellers though. For family of 4 or beyond, don’t think SIA will release so many tickets just for miles redemption, it would rather get more revenue from cash tickets.u

Hi, have you redeemed and completed flights to / from the US purchased using miles? I read from a blog post (though dated in 2019) that there are fees that are not collected during flight booking, making it sounds like there will be additional fees collected afterwards.

If you're referring to tax and airport surcharges it will be charged during the miles redemption stage.

No. First class is luxury trap. U ended up “paying more”
Business is sweet spot. But only fly J class is the flying time is at least 180 mins. 2 hours flight time only just redeem economy
