I thought Sawano is focus on Eren side of thematic OST, whereas in s4 when the true identity of enemy side unveiled and focus on, they need to compose their side of thematic OST, that's why his apprentice take over to focus on the aka enemy side OST as they are the protagonist in s4p1 and partially in s4p2.
Imma recommend another amazing piece of music but this time from Honkai Impact 3rd. Houkai Sekai no Utahime (or in English,) Honkai World Diva It’s such an awesome soundtrack
