The Tobey spider-man movies were my personal faves even with all of the silly moments. Something about them felt the way reading the comics felt. I haven’t seen any of the others have that particular feeling even though they were good films in their own right.

Tacho you’re right. Idk why they forced to have too many villains in one movie. Just like Spider-Man 3 it didn’t do too well because they decided to put 3 villains so the story felt rushed. Same with TASM 2 just have Electro has the one and only villain. Of course they can still show Rhino at beginning and end and tease for TASM 3 and maybe Goblin in a credit scene that could the tease the Sinister Six too.

He's actually known to be a prick. He exaggerated the fuck outta his back injury on Spider-Man 2 in order to get more money and he didn't show up for a full body VFX scan. Some dude on Reddit also talked about the time he got into an elevator and Leo & Tobey showed up. Tobey seemed nice enough but his eyes were wide and it was obvious that he had been taking drugs.

That back injury was real but he truly did exaggerate it, however he did apologize profusely afterwards. Really is a shame. Sam Raimi was already starting development, the leading actor was happy to return to the role, and despite the critical controversy of Spider-Man 3 it still grossed more money opening weekend then either of its previous films, Star Wars has been controversial for years but everyone still goes to see the movies and they still earn loads of money so it's highly probable that many many people would've watched Spider-Man 4.
But Sony just refused to butt out and let Raimi do the work, even though it was their involvment which caused Spider-Man 3 to be weaker than the previous versions, they would always make demands even if Raimi disagreed. I don't blame Raimi for scrapping the project, also the fact he knew Sony was planning on a reboot.
I don't hate Spider-Man 3 for it being the end of the Raimi series, I hate Sony for their ignorance and incessant need to meddle in a film franchise which was loved by comic fans, general audiences and created a whole generation of fans (myself included) and was earning them a helluva lot of money. The series was doing perfectly fine.
Goodbye Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire. You introduced me to what has been my lifelong favourite character in all of literature and fiction, and looking back even now, after I'm more educated on the source material and multiple incarnations, you truly brought the character of Peter Parker and the world of Spider-Man to life. Thank You

Well said and I totally agree, Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire also introduced me to the character and essence of Spider-Man and I thank them for that and Rest In Peace to the man who created one of the best superheroes, Stan Lee.
Here are my ratings of The Original Spider-Man Trilogy.
Spider-Man (2002) Great 9/10
Spider-Man 2 (2004) Amazing 9/10
Spider-Man 3 (2007) Decent 7/10
The best adaptations for Spider-Man are: The Raimi Trilogy, PS4, Spectacular, and 90's Animated. I like MCU Spider-Man and I think Tom Holland is a great Peter Parker and Spider-Man but I do have problems with the interaction of the MCU Spider-Man but he is great.
It bugs me to think that Sony was rushing Sam to get the script out and possibly threatening him that if he doesn’t make it the way they wanted they’d just reboot the whole thing. Smh

Like most people who grew up with those movies, I have some nostalgic feeling towards Tobey's spiderman, and I think he made for a very convincing and sympathetic peter.. However I actually think Tom Holland is the best all around actor to portray both peter and spiderman.. As I said Tobey did a great Peter parker, but he wasn't as convincing as spidermen.. Andrew had sort of the opposite problem, he was great with the snappy one liners but he was very hard to buy as a nerdy kid.
While Tom Holland isn't as relateable as Tobey when playing peter parker, I think he does an excellent job, and I think Tom's spiderman is probably more convincing than Tobey's

Even the comics don't want to do that. He's closer to 30 now but once he was turned into an established scientist by Dan Slott, he was poorly received so they brought him down to his roots. Nick Spencer is writing him better too. I think a balance between both of these would be good, Slott made him a billionaire and it didn't feel right.
And the movies can't do that because skipping Spidey's character development would be a disservice. How he developed from the school going kid to the responsible adult is important to show. Toby was too old and he doesn't feel like Spider-Man to me at all after reading through most of the TASM titles from the 60s. Andrew's movies weren't very good but they were going the best way, starting with Gwen, to her death. I wish he continued.
Now when I heard about Tom I was happy because he's young and I think he's perfect for this. They brought Liz for the first movie and I was happy and they turned Zendaya to MJ without being actually MJ. They're very cute and all and I'm all for deconstruction of characters, only when they take an interesting, original route and the new Spider-Man movies are none of them. I adore Tom personally and he needs better.

@@ah6382 but now he won’t die in Tobeys Spider-Man universe. He was pulled from that universe and timeline before he died. He was cured and then went back. This literally changes everything that took place in Tobeys movies.

@NitroRX 38 I love tom holland as spiderman, I grew with the tobey movies, but I love Tom and I really like the reboot tying it with the rest of the MCU movies, seeing spiderman with the avengers really hits different to me. Andrew's movies suck though

I am 20 years old. Tobey’s Spider man was the first Spider man I ever saw even before the comics. When i was a child i used to love his movies a lot. I was 15 years old when I started to read comics and the first serie i have read was Brand new day. At that moment i realized that Peter Parker actually utterly different than the one in Raimi movies. But still it was so nice to see Tobey in No way home after all those years. In addition i even want his Spider man series to continue.
