  • Knowing yourself is based in the past, learning yourself is based on the present. We’re trying to go from the present, into the future and part of that is doing the work to discover who you are, and how you can improve.
Welcome to today’s episode of The Mindset Mentor Podcast where today we are diving deep into the transformative power of self-awareness and how it can actually be the ultimate superpower.
In a world filled with distractions, I believe that the most valuable gift we can give ourselves is the power of self-awareness. There’s a clear distinction between self-awareness and self-consciousness, which I’m going to explain in this episode.
Self awareness is such a superpower because it is like having a clear internal mirror that allows you to manage your emotions effectively.
Self-awareness is crucial to your personal development because it enables you to understand your emotions before they arise, giving you the tools to manage them. Today I’m going to give you practical steps to help you develop your self-awareness:
Do More Reflective Practices: You can start with journaling as a way to explore both your conscious and unconscious thoughts. Our minds are complex, and journaling is an excellent tool to unravel them.
Practice Meditation: I know meditating is difficult for so many people, but instead of looking at meditation as a state you’re trying to get to of “no thoughts”, instead realize that meditation is actually about sitting still in one place so that you can properly observe your thoughts, process them, and work through why they exist and what should be done about them.
You will learn more about yourself by observing your thoughts without resistance. Meditation helps you confront your mind and understand what's really going on beneath the surface.
Become Thought Aware: Pay close attention to your thoughts. Emotions are often preceded by thoughts, and by acknowledging these thoughts when triggered, you can take steps to change your patterns moving forward.
    If you like this episode…
Make sure to share it with someone that needs to hear it and help us get the message out there so that together we can help make people’s lives better and make the world a better place.
    And BY THE WAY:
My first book that I’ve ever written is now available for pre-order. It’s called LEVEL UP and It’s a step-by-step guide to go from where you are now, to where you want to be as fast as possible.

The best ever explanation of what self awareness really means. People can explain concepts so simply when they truly understand them. Such a gem 🙏

If I be honest, whenever I approached to do journaling, I literally stop doing it after writing a couple of sentences. I wondered why and now my mind’s literally likely to take time, as long as it takes, and empty the thoughts and come back to the track. And this episode was my ultimate guide for it. I am super grateful to you for that Sir Rob. Thank you so so much😇❤️

Asking “what” instead of “why” helps a lot with getting answers and more self awareness. There’s a Ted talk about it… 👍

Asking questions starting with “Why “ is like always looking at the back mirror. It’s more disruptive rather than constructive as your mind will focus more on excuses rather than solutions. So we better use “ What “ instead of “why “ when we intend to increase our self-awareness.

I really appreciate what you are trying to say, but I don't get to the root of it with "What". I'm glad it works for you :-)

The idea that they are referring to is from this ted talk ua-cam.com/video/tGdsOXZpyWE/v-deo.html
Essentially when we ask ourselves "why" we lock our brain into looking back at life and blaming the past and others "why me?", "why is my boss so ____?", "why can i catch a break?". Instead, it is better to ask "what" questions because they push you into helpful steps of the future. "what is important to me?", "what is the issue that consistently comes up with my boss, and what steps can i do to help fix it". What questions help you move forward, why questions have you stuck looking at the rearview mirror

I think its useful to first realize that your "self" and your awareness are separate entities which can be in conflict(anxiety). Most people only identify with awareness. So they are responsible for protection, maintence and sustanance acquisition. A slave to their desires and a victim of the self.
Then realize that self(feelings)(unconsciousness) is just as much who you are as awareness. I construct feelings and sensations and run my immune system and digestive system etc. So my inner world(body) is run by who I am without linguistic instruction. Meditation on breath is useful in understanding the transition between awareness and unconsciousness because breathing is a shared function. So I live in a simultaneous union between my heart(unconscious), Mind(awareness) and soul which share a body. We are circular beings with circular problems.

My understanding is that to achieve Self awareness with the aim of Self improvement, one needs to be self conscious but with detachment.
Not ascribing judgement to your self observation, but observing with your goal of self improvement and curiosity.

I've already grown some self awareness, and I discovered something myself I really don't like. It turns out, I have some forms of abIeism. Example, I think neurotypicaIs are better than people with ASD. That ASD means lesser personalities and brains. I also feel that people with learning disabiIities are dopéy. Well, with the exception of dyslexia and dyscalculia, since numbers and letters mixing around is a visual issue and couldn't possibly make them slow-witted. And worst of all, I think people who don't have down syndrome are better than people who do have it. That those who have the said syndrome match the word inferior. So there you have it. I both think and feel these things I shouldn't. And I can't simply change the attitude, because I AUTOMATICALLY feel the way I do. I don't like myself. I know it doesn't make me a bad person, but it does make me a jerk

Take responsibility for your feelings everytime you experience negative feelings look at how your thinking is feeding these feelings which usually turn into repetitive behaviour s.
    Same s##t different day
Mindfulness n vipassana meditation are great helps
And count to 3 before reacting will help life run smoother.
Willingness to take responsibility for feelings is key you no longer have to blame and be a victim .you can claim your power/freedom back💚✌️🧘‍♂️🙏🏼
