@@arnon120 I feel it does, i would rather have it more of a Mechathun style than it's normal stat line, it doesnt make sense for that in my opinion, and its affect would be decent at best, I still feel it's a major need from the normal Galvadon as you have to keep those Spare Parts in your hand to gain the affect.
Galvatron docked for having old mechanics surely isn’t as bad because it has ungoro back tag. Consistency trump! You often give stars based on them having it!
The stars weren't docked because of the existence of old mechanics over all, they were docked because the old mechanics weren't used in a way that's even remotely similar to vanilla HS. Adapt and Spare Parts cant go together since they never existed in standard at the same time.
If it just had adapt in ungoro, it wouldn't be a problem from that perspective, but ungoro didn't have spare parts. If the card was released in that expansion, it wouldn't do anything since there were no spare part enablers. The same is true of it was from GvG since that set didn't have adapt payoff. There aren't any sets that I know of that had adapt and spare parts at the same time, which he docks points for.
I don't think the 3 mana 6/5 is too broken since there has always been mukla in the game which is only 1 less attack. I think not drawing cards is worst than giving 2 bananas
No, because if your opponent kills Mukla, they still get a significant upside which can blow up in your face. Meanwhile, if they kill your 6/5, not only did you not lose anything, they didn't gain anything. That's way better. Mukla punishes you for playing it whether or not it lives, which is why it doesn't see play. But the only "downside" to the 6/5 is if your opponent doesnt kill it...but if they don't kill it, you're hardly crying about having a 6/5 on the board. And if the downside is not actually a downside because your opponent killed the big minion that was threatening to kill them, then it's not nearly enough of a downside to justify the threat.
I think a more interesting and dangerous downside would be "Cards you draw are immediately burned", but that seems like it needs a bigger minion like a 4 or 5 Mana 8/8
or...go to wild and experience all the mechanics into one place, and Akali, the Rhino was a good buffing card for warrior even tho it was for rush minions
Paywall of a shit load of outdated legendaries and barely balanced meta are the main gates to that experience. It aint a beautiful exhibition of all the mechanics in the game, its a chaotic barely functioning jumble. Fun at times, but it certainly isnt for everyone, or even most players.
I feel he is being too hard on Galvatron. The discard isn't the point, the point is using the parts to upgrade the mech. The concept is silly but fun. And mixing mechanics can be fine as long as it makes sense. Here I think it does. Edit- The card is clearly wild anyway. Might as well let them mix there in wild.
Why is it a no on galvadon though? What if ungoro was the expac right after gvg? It's a hypothetical card, you can at least entertain the possibility of it. Admittedly yeah, the discard mechanic on galvadon would have been better in lock or Hunter.
These vids arent just about judging a cards basic idea. Its about judging the card in its entirety. And it overall isnt designed that well. The class, art, and expansion theme all dont fit. Thats a big problem.
I disagree, the discard works here, you are turning your Spare Parts into adaptions and there a case there, spare apart +1atk ~ adapt +3 atk; spare part +1 def ~ adapt +3 def; etc.
kurt lindner Discarding is a mechanic in hearthstone. This mechanic has always been used in warlock. Blizzard won’t print a hunter card with it, since discarding is a part of warlock’s class identity. It makes sense, yes. But not as a hunter card. Hunters aren’t a discarding class.
One thing about the Attack a random ennemy minion is that unlike rush, you HAVE TO attack with the minion you played, when sometimes you wont wanna attack. Think of eggs and bombs for example so in theory its a nerfed rush.
If you compare Pestilent Dreadstalker with King Mukla I think it looks fine. It's got an arguably stronger downside for 1 more stat point. The only argument I can see is that Mukla's downside helps you kill him and prevents snowballing.
Hapless Shredder: I would like to point out that Hagatha doesn't really have a murloc theme (yes, shaman as a whole does, but not Hagatha in particular). Only Sludge Slurper fits the bill. On the otherhand, Paladin not only have a Murloc theme in general (especially with Finley being featured), it ALSO have a mech theme in multiple expansions. So the conjoining of the two tribes makes most sense in Paladin. (Yes, Hagatha is being helped out by Boom, but even then, there is no real mech theme in shaman)
About that Ruby Elemental, i would have given it 4 stars in design instead of 5 just because of the color, rubies are red, the elemental is purple so it would make more sense for it to be named "Amethyst Elemental"
4:30 this elemental would be semi useful with druid' card that gives both players 2 mana crystal, Otherwise in a perfect ladder, you expect that it will gain 2 attack cuz your opponent would just use hero power.
Question about Sanguine Templar, does a battclecry minion always does his battlecry damage by himself or from an "higher instance" so he gets damage? Never played Hearthstone enough to know this, but the Injured Blademasters Battlecry says, he deals 4 damage to HIMSELF. The Templar only got "to this minion", that's why I ask. If he would not deal the damage himself, the lifesteal wouldn't trigger at all for his Battlecry.
You know that blizzard is doing an excellent job : block out the sand design is already in hearthstones under an even better form : « freeze a minion and give it +3/+3 » it is a chaman spell and it costs 2 mana, it s way more interesting !
Also, why would Eadric, a decently high ranking paladin that helped run a major tournament, have a champion? Particularly a Blood Knight champion? I dunno, though it would almost have been better named Eadric's squire.
Argent crusade, to which Eadric belongs, is a neutral paladinish faction, so a blood elf paladin would fit perfectly fine. That said, Eadric IS the champion. So the association with Eadric is fine, the term champion is not. Maybe replacing all the "Champion" with "Lieutenant" or something?
The Ruby/Sapphire Elementals would change the way you look at mutual Mana Crystal cards, albeit only slightly. Because they give full crystals to your opponent.. right?
Pesilient dreadstalker could also be changed that it discards every card you draw as long as it is on the field. That way the player might want to get rid of it at some point
@@Fourbasher61 don't know for sure but probably. And even if there wasn't, you'd still only vê making it stronger in every case except against fatigue.
Trump should have a separate review series for cards that are obviously designed around Wild, like Galvatron, that way we don't have to see him rate a card 1-Star for having card text from 2 different expansions anymore.
I think the Pestilent Dreadstalker could be interesting if it said. You cannot draw cards. Your hero power activates at the start of the turn, this would cause you to take 2 damage and also start with 2 less mana, it still would not have a downside if your opponent gets rid of it right away but if the opponent doesnt your next turns are really weak.
Pestilent dreadstalker would be absolutely stupid in a control lock. stall out the game to fatigue with tons of taunts and removal, wait until your opponent is out of cards, then drop that and ignore fatigue.
I think Trump is really overestimating the power of Pestilent Dreadstalker. There's plenty enough in the game at the 4 mana range that can just deal with it, meaning at best it gets a round of action, at worst you're second, put it down, end turn, it gets fireballed. At best you lose a turn of draw, deal 6 damage, then it gets fireballed.
I would like to argue that Sanguine Templar should be docked a point on design, because the Battlecry text reads differently to the Injured Blade Master text, but has an identical effect. Although I suppose you could argue that inconsistent wording is good design, in that it makes it more realistic to hearthstone. =[
Stephen Burley Hi, I’m the creator of the card. Consider the wording on injured tol’vir. Since it’s more recent, I imagine that’s how it would be printed today. The reason injured blademaster’s text is like that is to clear up any confusion since that would likely be a player’s first exposure to that mechanic, although I think it’s unnecessary and dated.
Galvatron is a fine card. It encourages Spare Parts synergies, which were never really that strong (afaik). It's obviously not just a 5/5, you would only play it in decks with lots of spare parts. Warrior DOES have "big minion" synergy and flavor, see Crush, Gather Your Party, and Wrynn. Block Out the Sun should have been Trump card of the week.
Trump's very sane and not at all arbitrary ratings: This is pack filler and not the best implementation that you could do with this mechanic. 5 star design, 5 star balance! This has random rush, I just don't like it! One star! 5 balance though.
How did you give Sanguine Templar 5 star? The card is a rip off from the injured blademaster just as you said most of the time you dock points for this hell you docked points for the murloc mecha because it was just like the piloted shredder, and paladin card damaging itself is not in the "Paladin spirit" like you woulf say desing is 3/5 at max imo but cool idea

You are not fun! Will Galvatron be cool in a set that has a lot of callbacks? for a set only in wild? This is a super cool concept that encourages a different use of spare parts.
Blizzard tries to focus on the set in rotation when releasing cards, not balancing for wild.
@@dawnevergarden3275 ye. I know. Does not make the card less cool.
It was docked for spare parts+adapt, not just adapt
If it just had adapt in ungoro, it wouldn't be a problem from that perspective, but ungoro didn't have spare parts. If the card was released in that expansion, it wouldn't do anything since there were no spare part enablers. The same is true of it was from GvG since that set didn't have adapt payoff. There aren't any sets that I know of that had adapt and spare parts at the same time, which he docks points for.
Sanguine Templar has the same stats, text, and cost as a warlock card from like 20 or 30 weeks ago
The devs certainly don't miss a single custom card review by Trump. Just to make sure they're not missing out on some flavour detail.
(1:45) So, remind me, is Sn1p-Sn4p considered "officially" part of the Boomsday set even though it was released during Rise of Shadows?
Yeah, he's gone next year.
I don't think the 3 mana 6/5 is too broken since there has always been mukla in the game which is only 1 less attack. I think not drawing cards is worst than giving 2 bananas
worse*
Team Too Many Cooks
Trump: "Im going to grill them"
The dreadstalker could read: You draw fatigue cards
I think a more interesting and dangerous downside would be "Cards you draw are immediately burned", but that seems like it needs a bigger minion like a 4 or 5 Mana 8/8
or...go to wild and experience all the mechanics into one place, and Akali, the Rhino was a good buffing card for warrior even tho it was for rush minions
Trump doesn't really consider Wild, nor does he entertain "just for fun" cards. My only beef with his review series
Paywall of a shit load of outdated legendaries and barely balanced meta are the main gates to that experience. It aint a beautiful exhibition of all the mechanics in the game, its a chaotic barely functioning jumble. Fun at times, but it certainly isnt for everyone, or even most players.
@@NeutralGuyDoubleZero it's honestly incredibly tilting, the main kick out of wild is seeing just how powerful decks can go
@@YAL23booboo8 which is fun, unless youre up against a tempo mage
@@YAL23booboo8 Oh its definitely fascinating. If i had a more comprehensive collection id probably try it more, but its anything but welcoming.
Thats a big problem.
paxmorgana Hunter doesn’t even discard cards from their hand. Hunter has probably two discard cards I think? It would really only fit in lock.
I disagree, the discard works here, you are turning your Spare Parts into adaptions and there a case there, spare apart +1atk ~ adapt +3 atk; spare part +1 def ~ adapt +3 def; etc.
Maybe if it adapted based on spare parts already used it might fit the class better
kurt lindner Discarding is a mechanic in hearthstone. This mechanic has always been used in warlock. Blizzard won’t print a hunter card with it, since discarding is a part of warlock’s class identity. It makes sense, yes. But not as a hunter card. Hunters aren’t a discarding class.
Making Block out the Sun a paladin card just adds another thing for Prismatic Lens to cheese out early
"You cannot draw cards"
Hello, Mill Warlock! Goodbye fatigue!
11:07 and boy, is it a Paladin card to fear. 10 months later, enter Blessing of the Authority, for 1 less mana.
Block out the sun:
+8/+8 and taunt
End the turn
"You give them a giant shield"
eadric's champion is good for clearing stealthed stuff, especially the tiny buggers that have poisonous
Hapless Shredder fits into Paladin more I’d say. Mech Paladin and Murloc Paladin both exist, and that card is both
You can fix pestilent dreadstalker by also tacking on 'your minions have -1 attack'
Blizzard says block out the sun costs 5...
This is the perfect video to watch right before the Blizzcon reveals
Sanguine Templar is clearly a Priest card.
Eadric's Champion is a Blood Elf Blood Knight (blood elf Paladin). So no Trump, she does not look like a "Random Citizen".
They're also very aggressive, so the rush makes sense.
Maybe replacing all the "Champion" with "Lieutenant" or something?
idk why sets matter for galvatron. in another video trump said that cards dont have to be bound to the current version of hearthstone
Block out the Sun + (Voraxx/Djinni spell copier) = skip opponents turn as well?
Ah yes, weaponized wasp, the murloc
The Ruby/Sapphire Elementals would change the way you look at mutual Mana Crystal cards, albeit only slightly. Because they give full crystals to your opponent.. right?
No. You gonna hope they have unspent
Pesilient dreadstalker could also be changed that it discards every card you draw as long as it is on the field. That way the player might want to get rid of it at some point
But then it's just better. Discarding is better than not drawing because of discard synergy
@@AliceIsSleepy hmm true, but is there any discard synergy in standard currently?
@@Fourbasher61 don't know for sure but probably. And even if there wasn't, you'd still only vê making it stronger in every case except against fatigue.
3 mana 6/5. battlecry:discard your hand.
Anytime you would draw a card discard it instead.
Trump should have a separate review series for cards that are obviously designed around Wild, like Galvatron, that way we don't have to see him rate a card 1-Star for having card text from 2 different expansions anymore.
Trump: A 3 mana 6/5 needs a game losing drawback
Me: *cough* 4 mana 7/7 *cough*
I think the Pestilent Dreadstalker could be interesting if it said. You cannot draw cards. Your hero power activates at the start of the turn, this would cause you to take 2 damage and also start with 2 less mana, it still would not have a downside if your opponent gets rid of it right away but if the opponent doesnt your next turns are really weak.
Eadric's Champion is a Blood Knight, which are exclusively Blood Elf Paladins. Would like to see more of them, but not under Eadric.
is sanguine templar in paladin flavor? minions dealing damage to themselves?
Pestilent dreadstalker would be absolutely stupid in a control lock. stall out the game to fatigue with tons of taunts and removal, wait until your opponent is out of cards, then drop that and ignore fatigue.
Pestilent dreadstalker- if you draw a card, discard 2 cards randomly, cannot attack leader perhaps?
10:20 Laughs in Blessing of Authority
Sanguine templar would have broken the suicide priest meta before the mechanic change.
Trump, would Block Out The Sun be okay as a Druid card?
Wait... The first submission is a Paladin Card, why is the background a Shaman???
3 mana 6/5 is ok because it dies to 4 mana removal, also its not just cant draw cards, its you cant use hero power,so id say its balanced
Those elementals would be better designed if they keyed off your unspent mana crystals imo.
The shredder should of been called 'helpfull' shredder cause murloc is a paladin theme as is mech.
Galvatron could work better if it was "For every spare part you've played" . But it's still flawed
A counter against aggro in the late game? You mean any card with 5 or bigger cost?
I mean Blizzard has been 100% inconsistent about which keywords stay.
Block out the sun from random spell casting like scrolls of wonder would just end your turn
Suggestion for Pestilent Dreadstalker:
You cannot play cards (maybe also keep the no drawing)
Extremely underpowered, i would add it charge or rush, only then it would be playable with such a disvantage
11:31
Trump: "This card's really unique in terms of mechanics."
Time Stop (Magic: The Gathering, 2004): "Am I a joke to you?"
Lol.
@@thebigyes8482 I appreciate the thought put in to that, and give a big double thumbs up! Thanks, Blizzard, for inconsistent wording on everything!
Galvatron: 5 crystals for a 5/5?! Not sure how to feel abt it!! lol I guess seems ok-good as well!!
id dock a design point for the name of galvatron, seeing as its a licensed name of a transformer.
What was he doing bringing up weaponized wasp? A wasp isnt a murloc, and it doesnt have a mech attachment?
Would the elementals be better if they read: if your opponent had any unspent mana crystals, deal 5 damage to an enemy/ gain 3 damage?
Designer: Hi we flavoured our card on champions
Trump Ramsey: “it’s fucking rawwwww. It tastes like shit!”
3 mana 6/5 is op
Little did he know that we got a 5 mana 10/5 with deal 10 damage to enemys lmao
Trump's very sane and not at all arbitrary ratings:
This is pack filler and not the best implementation that you could do with this mechanic.
PURPLE ruby elemental: design 5 stars.
