I mean by the way Celesta worded it, she might as well of killed Luna's daughter, hell im pretty sure that's why Luna never went looking for her in the story. Imagine having to live with the person who murdered your child for who knows how many years, watching as they have students and subjects and friends who flock to them naturally. While that same person so many people love, was the one who took away one of the only people who actually wasn't scared of you, and saw beauty in your talents. I would of lost it too, to be honest.

One more step to Luna becoming Nightmare Moon. If this was canon I would've really disliked Celestia. Who knows how many times Luna tried to search for Antumbra. This story is really sad and makes me want to forever hug Antumbra.
Ok, first of all, Luna would NOT have died if antumbra stayed. Feeding off love only makes ponies weak, not kills them. And second of all, Celestia didn't even think that the lack of sleep of taking care of antumbra would be the reason why Luna was weak and Antumbra didn't even know she had these powers, which means if celestia never said that it would probably never lead to the wedding 'incident'.
But think about it, if antumbra stayed, Luna might have become to weak to raise the moon, then what could she do? Then she would have to spend more time with antumbra and getting sucked more of her magic trying to rest up, and even if Celestia moved Luna to a different room to rest up, she would still have to recover her magic, so that would be maybe a couple of days without the moon, since Celestia didn't have control over the moon too yet. Then the day and night schedules would get all messed up.
I think Celestia can handle moving the moon she's been doing it for a thousand years also the laws of real world physics don't apply in the show such as the sun doesn't actually raise the planet just revolves in front of it, thunder comes directly from lightning instead of moments after a strike, and all the seasons and weather or manufactured. Don't try to apply science to a show about magic and unicorns.

It's about a cult trying to revive Nightmare Moon. They succeed, but the process is interrupted and the ritual creates Nyx instead, a filly version of Nightmare Moon with none of the memories. Twilight has to keep her a secret from Celestia, but once Celestia finds out everything goes downhill fast enough to make Sonic the Hedgehog look slow by comparison. It's an AMAZING fic and I definitely recommend it and its sequels.
This was beautifully read Miss Scribbler. And this story fits so well the Chrysalis/Changeling cannon as well as Luna's character. And even Celestia's actions fit her character as well even though she was completely and absolutely wrong in her decisions. If Antumbra/Chrysalis had been immediately accepted as Luna's daughter and a member of the royal family she would not have suffered the abuse of being confined and also she would have been "fed" by the adoration of hundreds of guards, staff, subjects, friends, etc and so Luna would not have been bearing that entire burden and therefore would have recovered from the beginning and not become depleted. Celestia had her sister's welfare at heart but instead did irreparable harm. :(

Luna's desire for someone to love her somehow affected the spell that created Antumbra, to create a creature that hungers for love, who's form reflects holes in Luna's heart, and who can hide in plain sight the way Luna must have hid her own sadness. Hmm of course this now makes me wonder what did happen with Luna during the Canterlot Wedding episode. Was she really not there, or just unable to fight her daughter?
you know, this is somehow even sadder now with current cannon. The fact that Antumbra could have been spared this fate had they only known what we know now about changelings.
This is the first non-"creepypasta" MLP fanfic I've ever heard of, and the first I've listened to. It was wonderful, don't get me wrong, and the narration was great, but I'm not gonna lie, the end was jumpscare city, lol. I know that it was intended to be like that, but wow. It was kind of like watching a toaster: you keep expecting the loud, sudden thing to happen, but it still makes you jump whenever it happens. Like I said, though, I know the loudness was intentional, and it did add to the story. Wonderful job! :D

Most of the "sadfic" stories just depress the fire out of me but this was a very interesting idea that pulls more at empathy and compassion, conflicting ideals of right and wrong. A very well-written piece which takes the backstory of the series into darker territory in a mature and unusual fashion. Kudos to the original author and to Scribbler as well for a powerful reading.

I can totally see this scenario: *Chrysalis (as an adult) in her hive, sitting on her throne has a flash back to when she was banished and saying to herself; "Mother will find me" unaware that she was saying it also* Changeling drone: "My queen?" *Chrysalis would look down from her throne to see the drone* Chrysalis: "What is it!?" *The changeling drone ducks his head not wanting to feel his queen's wraith* "I heard you talking to yourse-" *Chrysalis would quickly changes the subject* Chrysalis: How are the prisoner's pods?" "The Princesses and the mane 6's pods are secured, your majesty." Chrysalis: "Good." "All though when we captured Luna, she called you "Antumbra" so-" Chrysalis: *quickly turns her head and narrows her eyes at the drone* "That name, means nothing to me now, and you will never mention that name too me again!" *The drone would nod in agreement and give Chrysalis a confused look* Chrysalis: *waves her hoof dismissively at the drone* "Leave me." Chrysalis is the daughter of antumbra ( that is what I think it would make sense since this is before nightmaremoon and the changlings are not immortal so it would make sense that chrysalis is in antumbras daughter) ( sorry for my spelling)
she actually does get banished to the sun at one point in the MLP: FIM series XDDD in the finbal episode of season one, when luna is turned normal, celestia APPEARS from the sun as it rises XD like luna APPEARED from the moon XD

I have to admit it did strike me that even in cannon the moment Luna starts making friends Celesta moves to block her. Example Luna learns how to dream walk and starts making friends because she finally gets to be with the ponies for part of the day and Celesta announces that they are retiring in favour of Twilight. Um, really Celesta? Did you ask your sister about this? You know did you ask whether she wants to retire the moment she starts getting friends? Sometimes I think Celesta is jealous of Luna getting any of the attention and she'd rather go without the attention herself than share it with her sister. Talk about cutting off your own nose to spite your face.
This story unbelievably still holds up even with all the current seasons I really wish the story was Cannon I really wish the story would be addressed within the show because then we would really be able to see chrysalis giving into friendship
How Luna became nightmare moon When Celestia returned lina approached her and demanded to know where Antumbra was. So Celestia told her........ After a few days/weeks Luna became more and more angry at Celestia until eventuallu she turned into nightmare moon in pure rage and hatred for Celestia. Celestia was forced to banish her sister to the moon for a thousand years, Celestia wept and regretted sending Antumbra away because it had caused lunas insanity. When Celestia went to find Antumbra so she could try and help luna, she looked everywhere. but she couldnt find Antumbra. lunas insanity was also pushed over by the tantabus thats my theory of how it went down afterwards!
I personally love this fanfiction, the emotion and heartache of the choices made can be clearly seen. Yet I will stand by that readers/listeners are not truly seeing the fanfiction for what it is, a tragic tale of unhealthy love that is parasitic in nature. The origin changlings, the dark magic used to create them, and the part they played in Luna's fall and corruption into Nightmare Moon. A creature created out of loneliness and sorrow from one seeking love that Luna felt she was did not otherwise have. Celestia made many mistakes, all of which would likely lead to farther division between her sister, the first being allowing Luna to keep her creation as a daughter. Antumbra may have not intended or meant to hurt the mother she loved, yet this does not change the fact that she was harming Luna. She was draining her and if Celestia had not taken Antumbra... Luna WOULD have been killed. Not only that, but the relationship between mother and daughter was extremely unhealthy. Antumbra may have been one that Luna could have give and received loved from, yet it was farther reinforcing the Luna's separation from her subjects and her older sister.
I can relate to luna in so many ways loneliness can lead to depression and feeling unappreciated by friends or family if this was actually how luna turned into nightmare moon i would probably hate celestia but anyway great fan fic reading as always
In a way, Celestia caused the problem herself. By locking Antumbra in Luna's chambers and forbidding her from leaving, she ensured the only person Antumbra could passively feed off of was Luna herself. With a wider array of ponies, the draining could have probably gone unnoticed. She also ensured her hatred of Celestia and co-dependence with Luna. So much could have been avoided if not for Celestia's own fear.
If something like this were to happen, it would be the perfect excuse for the writers to give Luna a larger part. After all, she knows the symbiote's power better than anypony (except perhaps Sombra). Now that would be a terrific opener for season 5 or 6. Something would have happened at the end of the previous season, that made Twi very angry and perhaps untrusting of Celestia. In the opener, she would start behaving harshly towards her mentor, until she became a new version of NNM.
I agree with super gamer, maybe when they met again or maybe when chrysalis have child's of her own? I mean think about Luna see her daughter again 💖❤️💖
I understand both princesses perspectives. Luna loves her daughter, and wanted to do anything she could to protect her. But she created her from dark magic, and created a changling. Anton bra was slowly draining her mother’s strength by consuming her love. Celestia loves Luna, and would do anything to protect her sister even if it meant breaking her heart and taking her daughter away. Such a tragic yet intriguing tale.
From this story, I think it is safe to say that should Celestia had not been so cruel to Antumbra (please correct me if the spelling is wrong), the Changling attack might have not occurred. This being that only Celestia was captured and tied up and Luna (as far as we know) was not. If Celestia had even shown her niece any form of real love and affection, she might have grown up as a real princess in Equestria
Wow.... I don't really know what to say, Why would princess Celestia do that? Wait what if that's why luna wanted to take over? What if that's what happened? Maybe she didn't want to just become the only princess... But revenge is what she wanted most, Poor luna.....

According to the comic book series Chrysalis and the Changelings were created when Star Swirl contaminated an underwater cave reservoir. With some liquid based potions, but that was probably before this fic was written
I actualy like Chrysalis more than any Alicorn. I didn't like Luna and Celestia. But after this story I like luna slight more. And Idk if it is on this channel alredy or maybe it will never be. But Part 2..... would realy sound nice. I hope thats not to much trouble.
Very good as always, I especially like the character in Luna and Antumbra's voices, you can hear the emotion in them both, be it the affection between them or the fear or anger at Celestia. The one big question I have is does this mean Chrysalis is Antumbra or one of her decedents?
This is a fanfiction that shows Princess Celestia not only in the role of an older sister but that of a ruler, though also very flawed in her own way. She could see what was happening to Luna, even though her little sister could not. I do not believe Antumbra meant to hurt the one she called mother, but she was made with dark and evil magic... formed in desperation, and by one longing for love.
Banishing her is such a huge extreme. I'm assuming this was written before season 6 because en-light of some recent events we learn chagelings can in fact live among ponies with no harm. But it's a fan fic so I'll let it slide. Still feels out of character for Celestia though.
Oh dear lord. So Celestia separates a mother and child, causing the mother to give into darkness, THEN SHE PUNISHES HER?! Celestia is the one at fault! Not Luna! God damn it this is such a good fic. And did I hear some of a Bleach OST in the background? That soundtrack holds a lot of memories for me, and it suited the story so well!
Damn. 1, this is a great narration, it gave me mix feelings. My heart know the ending was right but my head is mad of what happen. 2. What beat did you use near the end? Sounded like violins
I gotta say, I really liked the moral dilemma in this fic. Taking a child away from a parent is certainly one of the most egregious acts anyone can commit. At the same time, however, when that child is essential a parasite that is slowly killing the parent because it would die if it’s host left them for an extended period of time, the lines become very blurred.
This is a sad fanfic, and Celestia did a very selfish thing she took her sisters daughter and left her for dead in the desert, but she also did what was right, she was only concerned for her sister but that still didn't give her the right to take her..
Celestia would realize that she had to rely on her sister to save Twilight, lest she be forced to banish her to the moon to protect her subjects. Luna would face off against NMM (sorry for the screwup in the previous note), and of course in the end she would succeed in separating Twi from the symbiote. This would also be an excuse for them to prolong the show, as Twilight would not feel she was worthy of being a princess, and ask Celestia to take her wings. She'd regain them in a future season.

That was amazing! With your voice and all, screaming(Luna, Celestia) and just acting you were them and how they would felt... just amazing.
I can totally see this scenario:
*Chrysalis (as an adult) in her hive, sitting on her throne has a flash back to when she was banished and saying to herself; "Mother will find me" unaware that she was saying it also*
Changeling drone: "My queen?"
*Chrysalis would look down from her throne to see the drone*
Chrysalis: "What is it!?"
*The changeling drone ducks his head not wanting to feel his queen's wraith*
"I heard you talking to yourse-"
*Chrysalis would quickly changes the subject*
Chrysalis: How are the prisoner's pods?"
"The Princesses and the mane 6's pods are secured, your majesty."
Chrysalis: "Good."
"All though when we captured Luna, she called you "Antumbra" so-"
Chrysalis: *quickly turns her head and narrows her eyes at the drone*
"That name, means nothing to me now, and you will never mention that name too me again!"
*The drone would nod in agreement and give Chrysalis a confused look*
Chrysalis: *waves her hoof dismissively at the drone* "Leave me."
"Your high-"
*Chrysalis would give a threatening growl at the drone,*
Chrysalis: "I said 'Leave me!'" *The drone would fly off leaving Chrysalis alone*
Chrysalis: *silently to herself as a tears qould go down her face* "Mother will find me, mother will find me, mother will find me, mother................................................... Didn't find me."
if this actually happened in the show then it would have been much sadder...poor chrysalis (even doe her name is antumbra in this sadfic)
Chrysalis is the daughter of antumbra ( that is what I think it would make sense since this is before nightmaremoon and the changlings are not immortal so it would make sense that chrysalis is in antumbras daughter) ( sorry for my spelling)

I have to admit it did strike me that even in cannon the moment Luna starts making friends Celesta moves to block her. Example Luna learns how to dream walk and starts making friends because she finally gets to be with the ponies for part of the day and Celesta announces that they are retiring in favour of Twilight. Um, really Celesta? Did you ask your sister about this? You know did you ask whether she wants to retire the moment she starts getting friends? Sometimes I think Celesta is jealous of Luna getting any of the attention and she'd rather go without the attention herself than share it with her sister. Talk about cutting off your own nose to spite your face.
This explains why Luna did not interfere with chrissy when she came to canterlot

How Luna became nightmare moon
When Celestia returned lina approached her and demanded to know where Antumbra was.
So Celestia told her........ After a few days/weeks Luna became more and more angry at Celestia until eventuallu she turned into nightmare moon in pure rage and hatred for Celestia.
Celestia was forced to banish her sister to the moon for a thousand years, Celestia wept and regretted sending Antumbra away because it had caused lunas insanity.
When Celestia went to find Antumbra so she could try and help luna, she looked everywhere. but she couldnt find Antumbra.
lunas insanity was also pushed over by the tantabus
thats my theory of how it went down afterwards!
I personally love this fanfiction, the emotion and heartache of the choices made can be clearly seen.
Yet I will stand by that readers/listeners are not truly seeing the fanfiction for what it is, a tragic tale of unhealthy love that is parasitic in nature. The origin changlings, the dark magic used to create them, and the part they played in Luna's fall and corruption into Nightmare Moon. A creature created out of loneliness and sorrow from one seeking love that Luna felt she was did not otherwise have.
Celestia made many mistakes, all of which would likely lead to farther division between her sister, the first being allowing Luna to keep her creation as a daughter. Antumbra may have not intended or meant to hurt the mother she loved, yet this does not change the fact that she was harming Luna. She was draining her and if Celestia had not taken Antumbra... Luna WOULD have been killed.
Not only that, but the relationship between mother and daughter was extremely unhealthy. Antumbra may have been one that Luna could have give and received loved from, yet it was farther reinforcing the Luna's separation from her subjects and her older sister.
I can relate to luna in so many ways loneliness can lead to depression and feeling unappreciated by friends or family if this was actually how luna turned into nightmare moon i would probably hate celestia but anyway great fan fic reading as always

In a way, Celestia caused the problem herself. By locking Antumbra in Luna's chambers and forbidding her from leaving, she ensured the only person Antumbra could passively feed off of was Luna herself. With a wider array of ponies, the draining could have probably gone unnoticed. She also ensured her hatred of Celestia and co-dependence with Luna. So much could have been avoided if not for Celestia's own fear.

If something like this were to happen, it would be the perfect excuse for the writers to give Luna a larger part. After all, she knows the symbiote's power better than anypony (except perhaps Sombra). Now that would be a terrific opener for season 5 or 6. Something would have happened at the end of the previous season, that made Twi very angry and perhaps untrusting of Celestia. In the opener, she would start behaving harshly towards her mentor, until she became a new version of NNM.
I want to see part 2 of this and I'm really curious what will happen next 😮 !?!

I understand both princesses perspectives. Luna loves her daughter, and wanted to do anything she could to protect her. But she created her from dark magic, and created a changling. Anton bra was slowly draining her mother’s strength by consuming her love. Celestia loves Luna, and would do anything to protect her sister even if it meant breaking her heart and taking her daughter away. Such a tragic yet intriguing tale.
From this story, I think it is safe to say that should Celestia had not been so cruel to Antumbra (please correct me if the spelling is wrong), the Changling attack might have not occurred. This being that only Celestia was captured and tied up and Luna (as far as we know) was not. If Celestia had even shown her niece any form of real love and affection, she might have grown up as a real princess in Equestria

Yeah, but she essentially abandoned a child in a harsh environment who had no ill intentions and couldn't control the powers they had (nor did they even know about them in the first place).
I understand Celestia's reasoning; she did what made sense, or at least what she thought was for the best. Clearly Luna was unwell

According to the comic book series Chrysalis and the Changelings were created when Star Swirl contaminated an underwater cave reservoir. With some liquid based potions, but that was probably before this fic was written
The comics are B canon that means there not canon unless addressed or show in the show itself or the creators say so otherwise.
Makes sense why Luna was nowhere to be seen when Changelings attacked Canterlot. She couldn't fight her own daughter.
This is a better story to make up why Luna became Nightmare Moon.

This is a fanfiction that shows Princess Celestia not only in the role of an older sister but that of a ruler, though also very flawed in her own way. She could see what was happening to Luna, even though her little sister could not. I do not believe Antumbra meant to hurt the one she called mother, but she was made with dark and evil magic... formed in desperation, and by one longing for love.

Banishing her is such a huge extreme. I'm assuming this was written before season 6 because en-light of some recent events we learn chagelings can in fact live among ponies with no harm. But it's a fan fic so I'll let it slide. Still feels out of character for Celestia though.

I gotta say, I really liked the moral dilemma in this fic. Taking a child away from a parent is certainly one of the most egregious acts anyone can commit. At the same time, however, when that child is essential a parasite that is slowly killing the parent because it would die if it’s host left them for an extended period of time, the lines become very blurred.
Give us a part two, if you don't have one, you should make one, that was amazing! And sad

This is so sad.
This is a sad fanfic, and Celestia did a very selfish thing she took her sisters daughter and left her for dead in the desert, but she also did what was right, she was only concerned for her sister but that still didn't give her the right to take her..
Celestia would realize that she had to rely on her sister to save Twilight, lest she be forced to banish her to the moon to protect her subjects. Luna would face off against NMM (sorry for the screwup in the previous note), and of course in the end she would succeed in separating Twi from the symbiote. This would also be an excuse for them to prolong the show, as Twilight would not feel she was worthy of being a princess, and ask Celestia to take her wings. She'd regain them in a future season.
Man, that was sad! Poor Luna. 😪
