Neumann KMS 104 vs Neumann KMS 105

This is just a quick video comparing the Neumann KMS 105 and Neumann KSM 104. I was curious as to the differences between the differences in how these microphones sounded. Do they sound the same? Do they sound drastically different from each other? Does one sound better than the other? How do they sound?

105 for the win. But 104 totally workable

It’s interesting. On my phone I very much preferred the 104. By a lot. On speakers at my desk, it was close, but liked the 105 more. It’s almost like phone speakers don’t know what to do with that additional bass, so it just turned to mud. On bigger speakers that can separate the sound a bit better, the 105 was more pleasing.

For me, for the first hour or so they sounded on par. But after doing redo after redo of a video I got a much better sense of both mics. I very much like the 105 a lot more. It has this nice sliver of shimmer that I really like. The 104 by comparison is a bit more muted.
