proform 585s treadmill problem starts then stops

- Treadmill powers up normally, but after pressing the start button the belt will start for about half a second then it stops and the whole machine resets...troubleshooting the problem...
Update- the solution was to replace the controller board, and now it runs again-problem solved! I contacted treadmill service advisor at 1 877 627 0349, and they gave me some good advice on how to troubleshoot and get the correct controller board for my treadmill. Highly recommended :)
I had same problem. I replaced a leaking capacitor on the motor control board and now runs perfectly! Cost me less than one dollar for the part.

If you have tested the motor with a fully charged drill battery and the motor moves normally, the only other possibility is the controller. The console is responding normally too. Try to get into calibration mode and calibrate the controller and incline motor. If you are unable to get in, replace the controller.
My light indicator is blinking continuously while in operation and if I try to walk on it.....it automatically stops as if I'm to heavy(which is far from the case). Thanks 4 the video!!!
I had the same problem with one of the Treadmills, where the treadmill would stop after a short while. I started by checking all the parts and eventually reached to a conclusion that the problem was with speed sensor.
Clean it, run it and enjoy...
Yeah I'm having the same issue (proform crosswalk 397)...going to try and check it, but I don't knwo what a speed sensor looks like

I don’t know if this helps to zoom in on the problem but I didn’t have this problem until I removed the cover and used an air spray can to blow out the dust.
I had the same problem get my garden blower and clean out everything Lined up speed sensor and turned it on and it works perfect.
I have the 405e e ProForm and the treadmill doctor said change the controller board I had the same symptoms well I still have them I'm waiting for my bored now to come through the mail

What if you notice a smell like electrical wires burning? I notice that smell after the speed of the treadmill drastically slowed and sped up again. I guess that's the motor burning up, going bad, or the circuit board? It's 5 years old, a Pro-form Performance 300.
You can check thermal switch in motor with ohm meter. Mine has blue wires going to board - they need to be closed and will open when too hot. You can open motor and check winding crimps which often loosen. Also relay on board needs to close. Any burn marks on board? Bulging capacitors?

Mine comes to a Stop if i lower the Speed less then 3 kmh.When i start d Machine again it doesnt works.I have to wait couple of hours,then it starts again.Above 4 kmh works proper.When it stops it says E1

hmmm, that sounds like something in the board on the console, not sure what exact part would be causing that, but you might want to check into a new board for the console? I'm having the same issue on the same treadmill.
I got one of these ,brought it 4 years ago.Just last month it keep tripping my breaker in the house when i turn the switch on.So when i look into it ,i realize it was the 2 blue wire connect to the motor,does anyone know what the 2 blue wires are for??
Heat sensor switch. When the motor get hot, it opens the circuit and shuts the motor off to cool. You need that. Motor protection.

I have the proform 430i treadmill that had a burn smell coming out of it for about a month, but still worked, until it started to stall no more than 17 seconds at 9.0 mph with the inside of motor sparking, then shutting off altogether. It restarts then hums loudly while running the belt at 4.0 mph. Treadmills are complicated machines.
Hope ya got your machine squared away, I have a proform 1200 . Mine just started doing this..... Power on install magnetic key hit any speed it start and in less than a second it restart, the red light goes out the console power goes off the comes right back on. The Reed switch is property gapped at .125 ....has anyone heard of this.
Oh when the motor cycles it takes off quick like it was set at 10mph. But quits in less than a second?
@@dalesmith7777 I have the exact same problem on my Nordictrack c100... the motor was blown and after replacing it it will switch of a second after restart... not sure how to test the board. Did you find thw problem to yours?
It’s the board. You can spend $200+ or you can buy MOSFET it cost $10 and replace it yourself
THIS SOUNDS LIKE THE SPEED SENSOR ON THE motor is not working.
I swore after the manufacture told me to plug my treadmill to the internet and upgrade their software mine started cutting off after 5 minutes. That’s their way to have people keep buying treadmills. Problem is way too common for too many. They should have improve technology the mechanics of treadmills since “parts” is common problem for all brand names.

Speed sensor. Thats usually a bad speed sensor or disconnected speed sensor.

I replaced the belt on it about 2 years ago. Is it worth fixing or should I invest in a new one? If it is worth fixing, where do you suggest I get my parts. I live in DFW area of Texas.

If it stops immediately after starting, the speed sensor is dirty, wipe it with some kind of wet cloth and it will work👍

I have the Pro Form Crosswalk 397 treadmill it starts and then a minute or 3 the walking belt stops. The light is on the circuit board then once the belt starts the red light blinks continuously until it stops then light is solid. I tested the motor by using a DC battery and the walking belt continued to run and never stopped. Anyone have the same issue cause I am lost on how to fix it.

Hi Michael, yes I found the problem. When I was open the bottom motor. Over full of dust. Use a brush and dust all areas. Then there was a sensor it has turn to wrong direction. I just turn to right direction she start to turn. All good now
If that not work out, all the wires connectors you can clean with contact cleaner, then check part by parts electric connection to see the electric running to the controls.

Sounds like you need to take an air tank and blow the dust and lint out of the motor it is overheating there is an overheating sensor in the back of that motor

Thank you My Own Boss. The transistor was fried with no resistance between any of the contacts. Replacing the transistor resolved the problem.
Hello my problem is the all is working dcreen power but Both motor not working up down and belt motor not spinning i have check the motor with battery is working .
I got a threadmill from someone- was working before I moved it. Now I have a similar problem -

Checked it with a battery and the motor/belt moves.
Same with me, I checked the treadmill before I purchased it by walking, inclining and increasing the speed. It seem like soon when I moved it from the place I purchased it to my place turned it on and walked for bout 13 seconds it stopped.

I just watched a video of your problems and it is the sensor on your drive belt the motor is hooked to the little sensor is out of line I too close to the drive wheel

One of the components on the controller board was bad- I replaced the controller board and that solved the problem.

you speak at a low level use a good mic to do videos..
you need to find your volume control- I have absolutely NO PROBLEM hearing it on my computer- actually it's pretty loud.
