Al Di Meola the official website
Unfortunately general public would not understand the brilliance of this. They would admire Estas Tonne with his simple , nonsense guitar playing and would not appreciate the genius of Mr Al DiMeola. Thank you Al for your tremendous contribution to music and guitar playing!
I bumped into Al di Meola in the security line at La Guardia about ten years ago (~2013?). I stared at him for a moment and he stared back. I recognized him but I didn’t say anything. No one had any clue who he was, a total global guitar legend standing in line, anonymous. Then I saw him browsing magazines in the terminal. He’s just like us!
Al Di Meola...........................Best Guitarist EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Al Di Meola solo acoustic for me is unbeatable and an environment where he is the undisputed master, it doesn't get any better than this true guitar legend. One of the absolute best in the world
You gotta love Al for his intensity and originality. Nobody can do what he does. Not Paco, John McLaughlin, pat Metheny, George benson... none can pick and write like Al.
One of the best performances from DiMeola on UA-cam.
Out of this world. Unique, unequal, one of a kind. Love the way he plays music.
Musique delicatissima.;ultra belle .Merci .🎩🌈🙏🧑🎤
The chemistry between those two is awesome
Hi Jojo.
Al is the master. End of discussion. And this solo starting the show is just downright gangster. A great artist, a great guy, and a hell of a composer.
the Cielo e Terra album was a truly religious experience. One of the beast albums that ive ever heard.
the remastered version on CD is fabulous
I've listened to it over 10,000 times. One can never tire of it. And to think for a number of years it disappeared into obscurity and was "out of print" as they used to say. Available now thank god,
Dang that Ovation sounds GREAT!
My father and I went to see The Al Di Meola Project back in the late 80's at the Center Stage Theater in Atlanta, Georgia. It was this same lineup and they were really "on" that night. Even my father, who is normally impossible to please and doesn't easily excite, became effusive in his praise for the music. Al even called Atlanta by it's old 70's, disco, term "Hotlanta" which cracked me up. Anyway, "thank you" to Al - and the band too - for making that night, one to remember.
A classic. The Cielo e Terra album is a high point of guitar but more than that, a landmark of emotional intelligence, nuance and mysterious mood in music, there's nothing else like it. It's a shaman's spell cast in the alchemy of land and sky. An enigma of desire and romance, an atavism of twilight zone to find solace. Thank you Al me ol pal.
Stoic to add to the emotional intelligence aspect.
I was there...front stage !!!!!
Di Miola is just a, beast!!!! This is jazz? Not really… latino music ??? Yes but…. Not really…. His guitar style really unique…. About his performance level us over any level…. Simple Amazing!!!
Are you kidding me!!!! Phenomenal masterpiece
This is how it should play a guitar, absolutely stunning!!!
Finger 1, fret 3. Finger 4, fret 12.
his ideas for improvisations are unlimited...I think he could play the whole day without any repeat...
this performance must be in the early 1990’s.
I watched him in Istanbul, in 1988.
He played this piece in exactly this version again with Gumbi Ortiz.
gracias desde Chile por tu música un admirador del talento verdadero
Didn't know laurence fishburne played percussion.
Also, Al is mesmerizing.
This sounds fantastic... Like.
10 años de este video, hoy 5 de enero del 2021
the opening part where he's playing alone with his guitar is the single most brilliant piece of live accoustic guitar I've seen in my entire life. And the transition with the percussions is no less impressive.
"Enigma of Desire" is an incredible piece, also on the Cielo E Terra CD. Such an intense song with an amazing Combination of Chords, intricate passages and Classical type leads. Al and Gumbi together musically have an undeniable Musical Chemistry. Even more so now after playing music together for over 30 YEARS!!!! So entertaining, energetic brilliance show after show
Al blows my mind, he is just awesome, and he's not even looking at the fretboard!! His complexity is just way beyond me, love it just the same..
Cielo e Terra great album ! Al Di Meola the best !!!
Phrasing, syncopation extrodinaire

When using the word 'Genius' becomes a euphemism.
Gumbi 👍👍
When I was young after hearing Casino, I disliked this album. It was so over my head. Now 20 some years later, I "get it".

Gumbi Ortiz is Morpheus!
the only good thing that came from new jersey
useless chaos
Anyone know exactly what model Ovation Custom legend that is? Is it the 1869 or 1769? I've been looking for the same exact thing in the Sunburst like that and man is it a 817CH finding!!!
1769
This Ovation is 1769 and 1869 are very well built Masterpieces that play and sound absolutely amazing. No other Acoustic has the incredible action like these do. I have the Black 1769-ADII Signature and also the legend 1869
The guitar he is using here is actually a 1569 custom legend. There are a few things that make the guitar different. The bridge and the one tone control set it apart. I own this exact guitar and it was very hard to track one down. I have the sunburst one it’s an original owner from 1986
That looked impossible.
Morpheus finally took the blue pill... :D
:-)
Hey Ray, Check out Marco Porcu's rendition of Cielo e Terra here on YT. It won't let me post the link.
