I remember my first audition EVER I was so nervous my legs were shaking 😂 I had to do my monologue sitting down so wouldn't trip and fall standing 😂

I am 12 years old and my biggest dream is to be. An actress,I really want to do film work but I don't know how to find auditions and I just don't know how to accomplish my goal. My school has a theatre and there’s one audition each year, last year we did school of rock, I was too nervous to audition so I didn’t and I got the ensemble, this year we are doing Matilda, the mk theatre watched our school of rock show and decided to help us to do Matilda this year because they are doing it to, their putting some of their tactics into our show, this year I decided to audition and yes it’s in a long time the auditions are in Summer I think but I’m supperrrr nervous because I’ve never auditioned to anything before but school of rock made me a lot more confident, this video helped me a lot so u took some notes so I can get into the zone in time for the auditions 😂:
Stop nerves from performing:
Lots of sleep before audition
Know that everyone else is as nervous as you (your not alone)
PREPARE!!
Breath.. relax... chill
Do your best.. holding back makes you look nervous or not good enough, doing your best makes you look confident people will think your good.
Walk around and count your steps and breath
Tell yourself you know what your doing, you’ve memorised it all
Drink water and warm up before u ho on
Go to the toilet before u go on stage
Come in with an open mind, if they want you to change things be willing to
Do what the tell you to do
Don’t think about other people it will mess you up
Don’t back out because you won’t do your best
Go for it
Think about how happy you will be if you get the part you want
If you be as confident or maybe even more confident you’ll blend in and no one will judge you do what they tell u and no one will judge you
GO IN WITH CONFIDENCE
Be really nice to people, their as nervous as you are, they’ll probably be nice to you back which will boost your confidence
Try preforming what your going to do in your audition in front of people, try to increase the amount of people each time, it will make u less nervous as you already preformed in front of many people
Get into the zone
If your singing, work that song, own it
If your dancing, work that dance, own it
If your acting, work that script, own it.
Don’t don’t do something because you think you’ll be embarrassed
Do your absolute best so when u leave you won’t regret not doing something.
Look up don’t look into the audience or where people are watching you.
Lose your eyes, breath, pretend your by yourself in your bedroom and open your eyes, do your audition like how you would do it by yourself in your bedroom or in the mirror 😂
Go for it, you have one impression
Challenge yourself if you can
And, just do your best

Your words though have convinced me to use it as a weapon. To go in and tell yourself that "you are an actor", and no matter what, even if you fail, you are still gonna get much better over time." What if you are under 18 and
Your parents are to busy to be able to take off to go to auditions all the time and what if u book a job somewhere they can't just pick up there bags and move so what do you do?????
If it's local then your parents can take you obviously, but if they don't tell them how important this is too you and how you want to become successful one day. If it's national that can be a bit hard to convince, but it depends what type of parents you have. I once went to an New York Modeling and Acting competition where casting agents can meet you. It toke alot of convincing to my parents because I live in Texas so I can't just drive up there. It was worth it because I won Miss Model of The Year Award. Also what can be good is if you have relatives somewhere where your going to audition. Like my grandmother live's in NY and it is easy for me to go up there for a national audition if it could be a good opportunity.
If your parent's are busy find maybe an aunt, uncle, grandmother, grandfather, and etc that can take you :)

The thing you said about intimidation was so accurate. When I was auditioning for a production of To Kill A Mockingbird, there was another girl the same age as me going for the same part. I was just starting out, but everyone there knew her and she had been in like, 8 other shows already. I did end up talking to her and it really did help because she ended up being really nice

Thanks for making these acting advice videos! I have been watching them a lot recently because I have my first high school audition this week. I'm going to be auditioning for a featured role in Mary Poppins and am really nervous. I am not sure what to expect since it is my first audition for a musical setting and I have not yet done an acting audition. I'm pretty familiar with singing auditions, but acting is fairly new to me. I am excited, but that nervous energy is still there. So thanks again for making these videos (:

I just started doing theater, but I've been playing basketball for almost five years so i'm used to and very comfortable being infront of an audience. From this I learned that nerves go away with experience. At the beginning of my basketball 'career', I was so nervous before some games I thought I was going to throw up. Then I got the hang of what I was doing after hours of practice each day. To be confident in something you have to be as good as you think you can get, and to get that you have to practice. I learned very quickly that acting is like basketball in a lot of ways, which makes me fall inlove with both of them even more. That's the best advice I can give. (: Great video!

Hi Rachel! :) I'm so happy I came across your channel and I just had to subscribe. You have so much great information and tips here and I'm really glad you are sharing these things. Personally I have been interested in acting for years now and I feel like it is 'the thing' for me. My problem is that I have no "CV worthy" experience aside from some summer theatre I did when I was a kid and right now I live in two different countries... In Finland(which is seriously tiny and casting opportunities are next to nothing) and I study in the UK(I have an accent when I speak english[not necessarily a bad thing, as you have mentioned too] and I don't live near London/bigger cities, where most casting are). I've done some auditions but mostly just to see how they are/to learn what happens there. Also I'm not sure if the whole agency thing works differently in Europe, it seems more complicated here. So I was wondering if you'd have any ideas for someone in my position? :) I do make youtube videos too and post some comedic sketches/acting related videos every now and then but those alone won't really take me anywhere. You can find them on my channel if you feel like checking them out. And woah, I just wrote a lot.. :') Thank you for taking time to make these helpful videos and I hope you're having a lovely week. My tip is dont overthink, overthinking just increases the number of problems and that just makes you even more axious
i'm going for an off broadway audition tmrw. was so nervous, because i was practicing my song and hating it. everyone else told me it was great but i was shaky on the last note. then it grew and i was saying "if i don't get in i'll be really upset, i'm not good enough" but watching these calm me down . thanks ;))

I GOT YOU -
Nerves are common. But sometimes being overly nervous can affect your performance.
-You need to PREPARE
- have the lines memorized
- having the lines in your head makes it easier to play your role accurately
- Think about questions they might ask you
- Get there early
- Get a lot of sleep before the audition
- Be confident
- Don't freak yourself out by what other people looking like/ are doing
- thinking too much about other people will mess you uppppp

Sure! as long as your mom is not in the audition room where the casting director is.
You gotta be mature and more confident though. Casting directors will definitely cast those who are confident and comfortable with other people.

Thank you for the tips. What if you have the lines down and remember them but you get too nervous and start saying the words but not playing the part. That is my issue is that I remember my lines but talk to fast to where I an not playing the part. Please HELP? What should I do?

This video helped me a lot. In two weeks I have regional acting competitions. I'm doing two solo novice monologues and it's my first time acting in front of anyone. I'm really nervous for parent night where we have to act in front of all of the parents and some students, which is very intimidating. I'm just afraid that I won't be believable. Any advice?
