What an awesome video of such a beautiful family! I just love their simple and humble way of life and how content they are, not trying to keep up with anybody else. It makes one really question today's modern lifestyle and the stress and emptiness in our quest to own more and more stuff. We can be content and feel so blessed with all that God has bestowed upon us. More belongings doesn't translate into a happier lifestyle. Very thankful for you to show us other ways of living of people making it on so little.

FYI..gleaning is Biblical. In the Old Testament, people were requited to leave a certain amount of their crop for gleaners. This helped in feeding the poor.

Many Christians forget that Jesus was so against usury which is the main cause of poverty and debt. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Usury In the UK Credit Unions are a good way to borrow money cheaply www.findyourcreditunion.co.uk/about-credit-unions/

In Germany we make foodsharing. We go to the stores and get all the groceries they can't sell anymore and which the "Tafel" is not allowed to sell. It is so much food that we have just like a little "store" where anyone can take it for free. In Germany a lot food is wasted! Sometimes there is one apple with a flaw in a whole bunch and they throw the whole bunch away! Or sausage from the butcher that is not in a vaccum wrap: The "Tafel" is not allowed to sell it for little price to the poor. So they throw it away, too. That' s very sad. But with foodsharing we share these food with others and save a lot of money. Per week we share about 300 kg food in our Fairteiler which means "fair- sharer"!

C0rrect. Here's the thing. We are all human here, no matter where we hie from. This is the editor within me. We are REQUIRED. requited means different. To say this in a way that others here, some will distort it. I've always preferred.... the intent matters more, but even then others would exploit the differences. You are brill miss Pool. This the way to gallant.

The house is not "tiny" in my opinion. It just has a low ceiling and a low number of bedrooms for a large family, but it is definitely cute and workable for a living space. I'm really impressed by the layout of the house that they built themselves and the organization of the kitchen. The backyard is very beautiful and amazing as well. It is a perfect area for young children to run around and play outside. Thanks for showing us aorund their home, Tawra!

SrirachaMom Most people talking about tiny houses, say that up to 500 sqf is still tiny. They fall just under that. It also depends on with how many people you live there. With soon 6 people I would still call this tiny!

Here in Chile, most people use the instant water heater, we call them calefont. They last a long time, all plummers know how to fix them and they sell parts everywhere. Ours works on natural gas. They have been used here for many many years, I would say more than 50 years. They are economical and efficient.

You seem surprised @ 10.50 by the apparent lack of kitchen utensils and appliances and how anybody could manage without those things. The truth is most people have way to much just stuff that they never use, it's a kind of hoarder mentality if you like. I have a toaster, kettle, stick blender and that's pretty much it in appliances. I am the dishwasher and when I want to mash potatoes or stir something on the stove or bake or cut something up, in short cook, (and that's seven days a week) I do those things by hand with spoons and whisks and knives. Its radical I know ;) but that's the way I learnt to cook and really if we don't teach our kids to use only the basics then what are we teaching them?

I have food chopper, mixer, hand blender, ninja, juicer and other appliances that just sit and I never use them. I also just use a knife, my old fashioned whisks, I have 2 kinds, a rolling pin and a plastic hand juicer. You just made me realize while I am purging I need to purge all of those things too. Almost all of them just need dusted all of the time which is a waste of my time.

I so enjoyed this video series, I've followed the 3 channels (living on a dime, sounds like reign & the fundamental home) for awhile & it was wonderful that you all collaborated to ask different questions & give us insight on how people from different walks of life but with the same goal in mind, live. I've wanted to live the tiny house way with a minimal homestead style for years but can't talk hubby into fully going this way....we compromise with having a small vegetable garden, make jams, chutneys, sauces & preserves & live frugally as possible. I live in sunny Queensland Australia & we have mild winters but incredibly hot long summers.

Can also put nitrogen or dessicants inside bag with food and seal for longer term storage (such as if you buy a 50 lb bag of rice and know it will last over a year; fill buckets with Mylar bags full of rice and seal bags for whatever you won't use in first three months.....

Such a great video! What I think young people don't think about when they're college age is learning a skill or trade, perhaps in addition to going to school for a particular field if that's really what they want. While I thankfully went to college debt free, there were no jobs in the field I had chosen (at least in my location). Because of the cost of living, people couldn't retire and to cut costs, individuals who'd been working for several years in the field were being let go. You obviously can't predict what's going to happen in a job field, but if possible, it's great to have the flexibility of an occupation that isn't limited to a certain location, so you have the option of moving to a lower cost place.

    • @stephaniefoster2899

Absolutely! Bachelor's degrees have become the new high school diploma. Blue collar jobs used to be more respected than they are today, but if someone were to go into a trade today, they could make a killing since they're harder to come by. A friend of ours got his BA in business & went on to get his MBA all while also working on his plumbing license. Today, he owns a plumbing business in NOLA & only works Friday-Sunday because he can charge $50+/hr as his standard fee & double on weekends as an "emergency" rate. No one wants to wait until Monday if their toilet breaks on Friday night!!!

It would be cheap and great to get all the nice homesteaders like u guys and buy 1 big property put all the little homes on it and live close and help each other like community. Its cheaper with more people just pay property taxes and electrical. Like the Amish.

I want a shed home ! Im going to talk to my husband we need to live off one income .I dont know how this lady does it but than I realize my kids have a ridiculous amount of toys so unnecessary. Please pray for my family to become more self sufficient and minimal! God bless 🙏

Dehydrated apple and tomato slices make great healthy chips. In Oregon we (the homeschooling group) would get called to each take 100s of pounds of sometimes less than perfect but mostly great. Also you can make laundry soap, shampoo, hand soap out of naruli Soap Nuts...never had an allergic issues. You can get the liquid already prepped or esp with vitamix or bullet grind for scouring powder or put Nuts in muslin bage straight into wash. Use White distilled vinegar in rinse instead of fabric softener and as an all purpose cleaner (along with baking soda).

I never heard of gleaning. I have heard it in the Bible but I never heard of people picking at farms in the modern day. I will have to look into it because I can. Cool family and home. Love the laundry and food room. They put a lot of thought in how to make thier home work for them.

This just popped up on my feed! It’s from five years ago, I’d love to see an updated video! Are you all still able to live this way with current prices? We are struggling a bit over here with todays prices.
