    You can look at it one way or the other, but in my view the demise of the Lunarians was not an act of vengeance, nor forgiveness exactly, just pure understanding - empathy - neutrality - nothingness. A moment before they were gone, everyone was one in the same. This contrasts with the last thing Jade said to Phos on their rampage, about being sorry for not understanding.

    • @rizacreatorYT
      @rizacreatorYT  6 місяців тому +43

      Yes, understanding is also a huge thing I was trying to slightly get at. I didn’t think how that connects to what Jade says as well, but you are totally right about that. Thank you for your input

      The dialog was like: "You want to be gone, I want you to be gone and hurting you wouldn't bring me any satisfaction, so we hav a deal." So it was more about not wanting to hold grudges and moving on, which ironically was what the Lunarians were incapable of doing.

      Do you know that feeling where you are just extremely tired of what is going on in your life, and you just want to disappear?
      That is what I feel is happening here.
      Phos at this point is just tired. She doesn't care about getting revenge. She doesn't care about being betrayed. She doesn't care about being isolated since she was created. She just, doesn't care.
Everyone suffered, Phos the most. But in the end, immortality is a curse and all are equal in which they just want to stop existing.

      @@pacificnebula4899 "I don't want to be angry anymore, I just want to be at peace" This actually sums up where I am at in my own life. Sick of being used, sick of living with the results and being angry about it. If I stop being a dunce maybe things will look up for me.

    Okay, this made me tear up a little.
    I was so mad at the end of that chapter! Phos destroyed the self again and again and again for people who threw them under a bus as soon as they got a better offer, ungrateful, manipulative bastards who abused of their drive and kindness, cowards who would rather hide in a hole and shatter then rather then listen to what they had to say and the change they brought.
    I wanted them to suffer or at least face the consequences of what they did to them, especially after abandoning them for 10 000 fucking years as they were off gallivanting on the moon.
    But it was bittersweet. It takes a great and noble heart to shoot down your only chance at happiness in order to give peace to people who don't deserve it. Forgiveness truly is a divine emotion. Together with gratitude I'd say, which those bastards showed precious little of!
    Naively I find myself hoping that Phos won't try and suppress their emotions and human nature agsin, even if it "corrupts" the living rocks. I think they deserve to act a little selfishly and to have someone to confide in, even if it's a rock.

All the lines carry so much weight because of the story we had to go through with Phos beforehand. I don't want this wonderful series to end but I'm also so excited to see the final conclusion

    I’ve never read a story that has impacted my life as much as Houseki no kuni.
    It still lives rent free in my head, and whenever I remember phos’s suffering and how even after all that he still manages to find forgiveness. And to find the good in the bad.
    (I would’ve sent them to suffering being the petty bitch I am) but phos truly is the greatest main character in all of fiction.

  • @fanaticaH

    I see it as Phos is now on a path to become a Buddha.
    Or maybe they already are, maybe what the manga calls "becoming human" means that.

    • @augustus4832
      @augustus4832 День тому

      @@rizacreatorYT The series is full on Buddhism. Like, the series ends in number 108 (a holy Buddhist number). Adamant is a Buddhist monk. Aechmea's true name is Yama (Buddhist king of hell), Phos gets slowly transformed into a Bodshittva by getting incorporated each of the 7 treasures of Buddhism (gold, silver, lapis lazuli, seashell, agate, pearl, and carnelian), the three races are the separation of the body, etc.
      Let alone all the imagery from the Lunarians and later Bodhisattva!Phos.
      If you know a bit of Buddhism, you will get to enjoy the series a lot more. It is basically a forced enlightenment for Phos.

      I hadn't noticed that until watching this video. Leaders carry a heavy burden, and good leaders even more so. I can dislike the person, but I have to admire his dedication. Idk if they revived all the gems ever, but many many many were brought back.
      If you think about it, being ground to the finest dust is technically one way the gems could truly die. The lunaroans were giving the gems something they could hot attain. If a big enough piece is left over, their consciousness could stay awake and now they would be stuck somewhere for who knows how long.

    It's still wild to me that the Lunarians want to move on cause they're bored to death and yet they have everything, can do almost anything. They didn't even ask permission entirely from the Lustrous if they wanted to be Lunarians and move on with them... Someone please explain to me how they were so easily enthralled at the idea of being prayed to nothingness, their complacency infuriates me.
    There's just no closure, no.. wow we were really harsh to Phos and this situation is messed up... Just, ho boy the moon is cool and everyone's here now we should have fun and I guess never question the whole deal of us disappearing with the og Lunarians in about ten thousand years. I want to know the disgusting details of them being convinced.

    • @rizacreatorYT
      @rizacreatorYT  4 місяці тому +14

      Aechmea says when meeting Phos that the Lunarians are miserable, but drown their misery with material things. The gems assimilated into that. Party At The End speaks of that. Rutile as a therapist says that the thought of being prayed comforts their patients, and that Yellow is an extreme case of the need/desired to end existing. The lunarians are NOT happy. They are numbing all their misery and depression like we do.
      Phos had nothing, so Phos could not numb their misery and depression. That's why we feel worse for Phos, but all the characters feel similarly. That's why Phos prays, because Phos sees them as the same in misery.
