I run an Ultrex and disagree with it being the best. I would go back to my old one if I could but I'm stuck with this 'cinderblock' until I can save up 3k+ to get a different one. That prolly won't happen while I'm alive due to the circumstances our country is suffering. This trolling motor gets tangled with weeds more than any other I've experienced. My Spot Lock, which is why I bought it, hasn't worked since the year I got it and all I get from Minnkota is 🤷. At this time I'd give it a 👎👎👎. Lowrance or Motorguide is the way to go, it seems to me. Maybe mine was that early model mistake on the assembly line? Again, 🤷‍♂️

@@TeamMarineService Minn kota should catch up with the technology and then they might be worth paying for an endorsement. An example would be brushless motor. We put a Force on our 22ft tri-toon partially because it integrated with the head unit. I also liked that I could run 24V or 36V with no issues. I had the dealer run 36V setup and I don't do it often, but pulls the boat 7 mph at wide open. I've been lucky and had no issues so far, but still only about 8 trips in. Not a brand fanboy one way or the other just trying to get my sons fishing!

You can use the weedless 2 prop that comes on the Ultrex on the garmin force. The one that fits the 80lb Ultrex works and fits the best. Don’t remember part number off hand. You will see a difference in cutting thru grass, hydrilla, and Lilly pads. And is also a little faster than the standard prop that comes with the garmin force.

Ran a Evinrude with the 12 /24 volt switch! Then Johnson 24 volt Continuous control for 20 years loved them both! I’ve had Minnkota twice the last being an Ultrex, outstanding! No doubt that Ultrex could be better than an older motor that "person on the lake had" but did he have any apples-to-apples experience.? If not, the endorsement is somewhat biased simply because that's all he knows (Ultrex) as far as the latest trolling motor technology goes. What if he tried a Ghost? Might he say the same thing when comparing to an older model motor he had?

Minnkota has always been the go to for me. I’ve run a C2 30lb tiller on my bass buster for years and years and sold it to a kayak guy when I didn’t need it anymore. Have a edge 45 on my cc boat now because it’s what I could afford at the time and that was in 2017 still have not upgraded it because it just keeps trucking. Even my edge 45 chops through grass like it’s a wet paper bag. MK will always have my business as long as they keep up the solid work.

Kota all the way. All brands have there own Lil issues, but when it comes to major issues I feel I've had less with my uktrex and I've had a ghost force and uktrex. @team marine service way off topic but could you do a video fir the " the good bad and ugly " subtopic on Raymarine. Back in the day many pros were using them, but not so much now, but lots of kayaker swear by then. Any input would be great

out of 200 boats in a tournament they had to fix 75 of them all trolling motors have issues there great ... I went ahead and tried the tour pro i like it a lot no issues so far knock on wood ,
aluminum 3 blade cuts through anything I've been in and i couldn't even get a minn kota when i wanted one they was non existent. I know the x3 wasn't the best but i think motor guide did good with the tour pro ? spot lock works fantastic ... there's a lot of things i liked more like the head on the motor doesn't turn no cable to get tangled as you go around , it still has cable on the motor guide so if you lose electric power u can still use it...
I mean it has a metal foot pedal .. its pretty legit in my eyes. I'm a minn kota guy but ive learned to love the tour pro it even also works with most of the electronics where others only work with one or two electronic systems .... so are they that bad ? so can you maybe talk about the tour pro next time ? try it out ...

One of the benefits of not having a boat for the last 2 summers is that I have had the opportunity to fish in many other boats and use all the different brands of trolling motors and electronics. MK may be clunkier but it is more responsive than the other 2 hands down. Not to mention as an older angler I feel that you have less fatigue after a day of fishing. The pedal is just more ergonomic. As for speed its tic for tat. I also would add that in two boats I fished out of (Bass Cat and Skeeter) you could barely strap down a spinning rod to the deck under a Garmin for fear of the bracket damaging your reel handle.

Thanks for the video, after using ultrex and ghost extensively i strongly disagree. For my usage the ghost is just flat better in almost every way. Maybe id feel different in your waters but i deal with heavy grass too and it does well. For me thats A factor but not THE factor.

Wish Minnkota would offer their products with a brushless motor. I have trolling motor (EMI) interference with my transducer mounted to the Maxxum trolling motor on my Garmin 93WE UHD, and there are many UA-cam videos showing the problem.

I ran a motirguide tour for years on old boats before getting a ultrex when they first came out..fast forward about I think 6 or 7 years and I've owned 3 of them..never had a single issue with any of them..I really wish motorguide would unfuck themselves because I always preferred there pedal layout.

I run a Ghost and it's by far the most quiet and powerful trolling motor I've run, I'd consider an ultrex if it went brushless and got quieter. No problems with my Ghost in the weeds. Huge problem right now is minnkota and birds are so ma and pop that they can't make anything fast enough and don't have the backing like Garmin and Navico.

Using garmin force for last 2 years, strong and quiet, but I don’t like having to run hard wire from trolling motor to head unit through nmea2000 hub, pain in ass, Garming should have two direct inputs for transom transducer and TM transducer.

I have an Ultrex. If the foot pedal was removeable, it would be perfect. The only thing I use on the foot pedal is the on/off switch. Makes for a huge waste of casting deck space, if you're like me and use the remote 100% of the time.
