Thank you, so much. I ran aground in an otherwise easy pattern because I couldn't understand the flips in lining attachment, I needed to see it. And in your soothing, helpful video, it all made sense. What a beautiful brocade fabric you chose, and bright lining.
Brilliant tutorial. I love this type of Vlog. Your attention to detail, voiceover explaining the steps you are taking and why is smashing 😀! I know that's why folks like me cannot wait for their Friday morning fix 😁. I hope you let Diane, your own personal source, along with thousands of us who hear you commend her, who if they've not already subscribed, dash over, watch and do. Of course the excellent Books are invaluable too. Your right to be thrilled with your jacket Suzanne, it's absolutely gorgeous 👍👌perfect. Fabric choice is spot on. I have to say, I've worn tweed jackets with jeans, which is perfect as smart/casual wear. Like you, I just love it and if my existing tweeds from way back are a trifle neat 🙄, I wouldn't hesitate to copy yours (not going to your neck of the woods for fabric though 😁😆😉
Thanks so much Janet💕💕💕 that's so lovely to hear💕 I have let Diane know that without her tutorials I wouldn't be able to see a thing👌👌👌fabulous, fabulous lady💕💕💕 I used one of the books to draft this pattern and love good the fit turned out👍👍👍 love the jeans and tweed look too, that pairing is sure to get worn this spring👌👌👌 thanks again for your very kind comments Janet and have a fabulous week💕💕💕
Beautifully constructed! Gorgeous jacket! I’m so happy I’m not the only one who uses many pins for difficult areas. I see/hear many sewists stating, “only need a few pins.” I’d rather use too many, rather than too few and have to rip and fix. Thanks so much for your videos. I look forward to them, every week.
Thanks so much Gerrie💕💕💕 I'm with you, I'm definitely a "pinner" when it comes to tricky areas for exactly the reason you say👍👍👍 I'd much rather pin than rip😉 have a fabulous week Gerrie💕💕💕
Dear Susanne. Your instructions are absolutely fantastic. Fast, clear, exactly what is needed. I love how you say "pleased with that" every now and then. I feel the same when making something and it is turning out well!
Suzanne what a lovely jacket! I love how you are showing us how you create your lovely fashions using your blocks… It’s amazing! Thank you so much for sharing!
I so thoroughly enjoyed watching the making of your gorgeous Coco style cropped jacket video, Susanne!😍😍😍 Looking forward to the next one. Hope your weekend is as lovely as you are.
Hi Suzanne I simply love how clean and neat your work is . So far this is the best explained sewing tutorial I have watched . You are really so talented and kind to share your knowledge .Please can you add sewing tutorials for evening dresses . Thanks again
So Fun to Watch! You have such a pleasant voice and your use of pausing especially makes watching your tutorials so enjoyable. Great sewing techniques as well, I’m using them from now on. Love All Your Videos!
Beautiful jacket. This is so helpful for me. Am planning to start my Coco in a few weeks . It'll be my first jacket, and though everyone says it's an easy pattern I know some things would have confused me, so to see it all step by step like this is great. Thank you - can't wait for the next jacket!
Thanks so much Eileen 💕 its so nice to hear that the video is useful💕👍💕 good luck with your Coco, I hope it all goes well and you end up with a beautiful Jacket 🤞🍀🤞
WOW! That was amazing to watch Susanne! You almost make me feel that I could do it (I couldn't of course), but you would make an amazing teacher! I LOVE watching your 'making of' videos (well, I love all of your videos), but the 'making of' videos are just fascinating! That jacket looks like couture! 😍😍😍 As always, TFS 👍❤

I love how you turned those sleeves! I tried to do that last week on a coat and sewed myself a nice infinity loop 🤦🏼♀️ I knew there was a way to do it! 😂 (I ended up splitting the armhole seam, turning it right then hand sewing it. I was so disappointed 🤪)
Hi I’ve just found your UA-cam blogs and I’m loving them. Yep I’ve subscribed and hit that bell 😀. I’m in the market for a new sewing machine and just wandered what yours was. Keep them coming and I just might have to binge watch today.
Hello Suzanne, love, love, love your charming commentary everytime! I'm a newby subscriber to your channel and am wondering where I can get a hold of your patterns🤔 Gill from Australia🐨
You are an amazing talented lady, thank you so much for sharing. I have only been sewing for a couple of years and I am thinking of trying a jacket but wasn't sure if I had the confidence to do it. However after watching your video I feel I could give it a go. I love the way you make things from your basic blocks, I think it's the only way to get a great fit. I am going to try this with the help from Diane and the books you have recommended. By the way love the way you do a 'thumbs up' after each section. :)
That's so nice to hear Elaine💕💕💕I'm keeping everything crossed for you that you get your block completed (I love working from the block💕💕💕) and your first jacket turns out beautifully 🤞🍀🤞🍀🤞🍀🤞👍👍👍
Hi have just watched your Coco jacket for first time. It looks fantastic. Could I ask do you do your own pattern drafting or basic blocks, and which type of block do you use? and where can I find information about pattern drafting/basic blocks. Thanks Christine.
Thanks so much Pearl💕👍💕 I do make my own patterns from the block. I have a good few blocks now, I talk about a few of my most used blocks in this video ua-cam.com/video/qzAdQ-dwNdg/v-deo.html and in this one ua-cam.com/video/xnGwxVzqwJc/v-deo.html I chat through how I got started working with blocks including my resource recommendations. Hi Suzanne, i made a sleeveless top , v-Front . I tried the method of cutting a v into the back till almost at the bottom of the back and overlapping the excess, but now it’s a bit too tight around the chest.... how do you approach a gaping neck at the back. I bought the Palmer Pletch book on adjusting a pattern but this is one solution I did not find. Can you guide me to the right books or solution.. I did not find a UA-cam solution either.. except for adding shoulder darts which I don’t want... thanks in advance. 😉🍀
Hi, you're the second person that's asked that very question, unfortunately I haven't come across this problem myself and don't know of any books that give a solution to this specific problem..... I have used a method to reduce gape at the front neckline on various patterns and I am assuming you could use the same method at the back. The method is laid out in the book "Pattern Cutting Made Easy" by Gillan Holman. I hope this helps🍀
Great tutorial, Suzanne, and your jacket is adorable! The only part I didn't quite understand is your treatment of the hems to keep the lining from peeking out. Do you fold up the hem allowance and sew along that line?
Thanks so much new2sewing💕💕💕 to keep the hem from dropping and the lining from peeking out I fold the hem up by its allowance and then at the bottom of side seam pop my fingers inside the hem and grab the seam allowance from the hem and the side seam together and run a couple of tacking stitches back and forth but just on the seam allowance. The stitches are running vertically 👍👍👍its a fab tip👌 I watched a good few videos before it clicked with me😉 I'll try to show it again in another video🤔 I hope this helps💕💕💕
Hi Suzanne, just came across your video and thoroughly enjoyed it, so pressed the Subscribed button. Love the jacket that you made, could you share what type of material you used and the pattern, many thanks.
Thanks for the feedback Janice, it's greatly appreciated💕👍💕 I overlocked the edges of the outer fabric, it did fray a good bit, the lining not so much. If fraying was an issue I would overlock both, I've done this with winter coats where I have a bit more ease and bulk isn't an issue but not with a more closer fitting jacket like this one. I've read recently that a 3 thread overlocked edge helps reduce bulk at the seams, haven't tried it myself as yet🤔
