When I was younger, my uncle constantly played as Hunk and would always show me how many Bella sisters he could kill in a row. He passed away a little while ago but I can only imagine what his reaction would be to see Hunk back in action. That melee is brutal- waiting for Ada and Wesker now.

It was probably most likely Hunk fanboys that wanted to come up and make a cool meaning to the name and the whole "Human Unit Never Killed" thing was probably the only thing that made sense to them and it sounded cool and fitting to the character. Not trying to throw shade at you or whatever negative things people do in comment section like troll and hate and stuff like that, but I feel people try to make up and look into things too much to make sense of things about a character when in reality sometimes that is what makes a character cool is not knowing the character too much and not breaking the mystique of that character.

Hunk isn terrifying. Just the idea of a super soldie who has survived basically every high danger scenario the protagonists have and has gotten through them easily without getting an eye is scary. Just this calm, collected badass who is always in control of a situation and if he isn’t then he remedies that quickly
Was there any indication that Hunk is some sort of super soldier? He's up there alongside Chris and Leon in terms of capability and lethality but I don't think he's on the levels of Jake and Sherry who are basically mutants and super soldiers in the RE universe

The fact that his music is a redone version of Looming Dread from RE2R 4th Survivor is fantastic. Makes me realize that the track was referring to him as the Looming Dread.
It's so thematically perfect. In RE2, it's Looming Dread because his mission is to escape alive with the virus sample, as the threat of nuclear annihilation creeps ever closer to HUNK. Here in The Mercenaries mode, his mission is to slaughter as many zombies as he can in this area. The music is now remixed because he has become the creeping doom for all of the infected in the mission area, and their only hope is his rampage ends before they're next on the chopping block.
this RE4 Remake is so HUGE, Capcom will probably give Hunk his own DLC, AND his own RE game too... they have to.... i've been playing RE games since the first one on ps1 in 1996.. and i am shocked Hunk STILL does NOT have his own RE game... Leon is my all time favorite RE character, but Hunk is a very close second

One of my biggest fears was that they were going to make Hunk's neck breaker animation more grounded and less over the top like the original, I'm glad I was wrong because they doubled down on it with that pose at the end with his hands up, like an assassin looking for his next victim.
It is cool, but personally I'd prefer to keep his quick professional neck snap he had in the OG, feels kinda weird considering HUNK is one of, if not the only, elite soldiers Umbrella has at their disposal, it would nake sense that it'd be just a quick "snap" and moving on the next target. Imho.

A small tip for other characters, scrap all unwanted weapons at the very beginning of the mission, to have ammo dropped only for the weapon of your choice. For example, if you will throw away handgun and sniper riffle as Leon, you will find only shotgun ammo scattered around in the barrels or dropped by enemies. enjoy
I was honestly warried about this game's Mercenaries given how absolutely tedious and perk reliant Village's version was. I'm so glad they kept it simple and fun for this one
The fact that he has a one hit kill move like in RE6 is really cool. Since he can QTE by shooting the knees, he literally has a priviledged button to save his combo if he's in a pinch, with no downsides. His power is also very nice, infinite bullet spray is very useful.

Its crazy how a small change in animation changes the character's personality. His neckbreaker still had a "jazz hands" part in the original RE4 but he looked way more professional because it was very brief. Now he does it for so long it kind of looks flamboyant, like he's waiting for applause.
I guess they wanted to balance it out by making it longer, and by him making sure that the undead stay dead after the neck break. Like hell, you sure do remember how busted HUNK was in Village map before, right? I think they also reduced the amount of enemies in total for RE4R, since it was 175+ iirc

That neck break noise is so satisfying to hear. I really like HUNK because of the instakill melee and design, but also his infinite ammo Mayhem Mode. Can't wait to see what they do with Wesker.
That's actually awesome that you can run out of enemies unlike the original and your kills extend your timer too. The mayhem mode seems interesting so maybe krausers transformation is locked behind it?
There actually is an enemy cap in the original, its just very, VERY hard to hit since the time limit is so tight. With the added mechanic here of gaining a few seconds for every kill, hitting the enemy cap becomes much more reasonable.

If you are on PC no worries they will just make mods. I am pretty sure they will give out full costumes though. All the assets exist already so it should be easy.

So I was wondering how mechanically this was going to work. - RE4 Basic Framework - All Enemies give you time regardless of how you kill them, but there are tiny differences in how much time you get. Presumably, this was to stop the RE6 strategy of just waiting to counter-attack the opponents. - Bonus Chests are removed, and replaced with this Devil Trigger Mayhem mode. Seem character specific, maybe in an attempt to balance out the mode after multiple games with jarring character quality. All I can say is that I'm glad they didn't use RE8's Mercenaries Mode.

Its crazy how a small change in animation changes the character's personality. His neckbreaker still had a "jazz hands" part in the original RE4 but he looked way more professional because it was very brief. Now he does it for so long it kind of looks flamboyant, like he's waiting for applause.
I guess they wanted to balance it out by making it longer, and by him making sure that the undead stay dead after the neck break.
Like hell, you sure do remember how busted HUNK was in Village map before, right?
I think they also reduced the amount of enemies in total for RE4R, since it was 175+ iirc

Just watched Krauser in mercenaries and thought it was great. Then I see Hunk and get completely blown away. That neck snap/taunt is glorious.
HUNK’s theme is and always has been an absolute banger.
That neck break noise is so satisfying to hear. I really like HUNK because of the instakill melee and design, but also his infinite ammo Mayhem Mode. Can't wait to see what they do with Wesker.
Miss his pistol execute from raid mode but I can't complain this is great, HUNK continues to be top tier only Wesker can dethrone him in Mercenaries.
That's actually awesome that you can run out of enemies unlike the original and your kills extend your timer too. The mayhem mode seems interesting so maybe krausers transformation is locked behind it?

There actually is an enemy cap in the original, its just very, VERY hard to hit since the time limit is so tight.
With the added mechanic here of gaining a few seconds for every kill, hitting the enemy cap becomes much more reasonable.

All they added were just the stupid tickets propably in an attempt to milk the crap out of casual players, its very stupid and scummy but it doesn't affect the game in any way its like the DMC5 micros nothing affected the game at all and they only existed to milk casual or impatient players, as long as it is kept that way its at least okay I guess

If you are on PC no worries they will just make mods. I am pretty sure they will give out full costumes though. All the assets exist already so it should be easy.

I love how it even plays the theme for when HUNK is escaping that building.
So I was wondering how mechanically this was going to work.
- RE4 Basic Framework
- All Enemies give you time regardless of how you kill them, but there are tiny differences in how much time you get. Presumably, this was to stop the RE6 strategy of just waiting to counter-attack the opponents.
- Bonus Chests are removed, and replaced with this Devil Trigger Mayhem mode. Seem character specific, maybe in an attempt to balance out the mode after multiple games with jarring character quality.
All I can say is that I'm glad they didn't use RE8's Mercenaries Mode.
Mayhem modes are character specific, pretty big variations too, Luis gets dynamite, Krauser gets his mutated arm, etc.
