    Hi Guys,
I am on location tonight in the Pacific Creek Valley in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. In 1983, 4 hunters were the last ones in the valley preparing for an October hunt. The next morning 2 of the hunters went into the valley to start the hunt . There they started experiencing something strange and frightening that followed them back to their camp. They decided they needed to make a decision!

In 1973 I lived in Auburn, Washington..My sister and her husband came for over..we sat around talking, playing games..at 3 am my sister and I decided to go outside and look at the stars..while looking at the stars it suddenly got quiet..the dogs quit barking suddenly..dead silence..then suddenly as we stood outside ..we heard a loud scream.. sounding like the sound a bigfoot makes ..I couldn't believe what I heard..stood frozen..couldn't move..my sister had to push me to get me to move and get back in the house..I have never forgotten this experience..that was 50 years ago.

Had a similar experience when we emigrated from the UK to British Columbia in 2016. Hiking close to the Washington border in the Cascades at the time and just a shirt drive from our front door
2 rocks thrown in front of us hit the same tree, both times in quick succession. Heard something heavy breaking brush above where the rocks came from. Had a dreadful sense of foreboding and we got out of the area very quickly. Not a good introduction to hiking and we live in an area we later found out with a long history of Sasquatch encounters. Can definitely relate to a sense of primal fear as we felt something was coming for us on the way back down the trail.

My Grandmother told my Mother, my Mo, than told me the same thing "That if the hair stands up on the back of your neck, feel fear, to listen to my instincts, as my instincts are telling there is danger to go a different direction or get away ." Birds warn other birds of danger in our backyards such as when a hawk is around. In a forest researchers have discovered birds, mammals and even fish recognize the alarm signals of other species. If your in a forest when all the animals become quiet there is a predator nearby, where I live it could be a cougar (Mountain lions) as there are lot of them.

It's incredible how we have such beautiful nature to see but yet it can be frightening. The deer story is sad but terrifying. What could do that?? I don't know for sure if the fear I experienced once was primal but it was enough for my hair to stand on end. It was a paranormal experience I once had but it scared the bejeebers out of me. Chris did my story a few weeks ago under the title "Hikers Ignored WARNINGS and Went Anyway!" Thank you again Chris for that it was awesome to contribute to your channel. Regarding the Primal Fear aspect, as someone who has experienced it firsthand I can say it is like nothing you can imagine. Like he related in our story we were not the type that scared easily and we ended up running like terrified Children and we never actually saw it. The fear just switched on. In thinking about my experience and how it is identical to others, I wonder what it is that triggers it. I have heard that these creatures might use low frequency sound waves to induce the fear, or perhaps its a Pheromone that we cant actively smell but it goes straight to our primal center and triggers it. Whatever it is, the fear is obviously a survival instinct that we have and those things take a long long time to develop. Dr. Lloyd Pye theorized that these creatures are actually Neanderthals or some kind of offshoot.

Let me tell you, Chris, how much I adore you and your storytelling. I’ll try to make a long story short. I used to hike when I lived in Montana. This was back in the mid 90’s. I grew up in Memphis so the dry air of Montana in the summer was fantastic!!! I was a young girl, just in my early 20’s then. I modeled and was very active. (I’m currently 50 years old. ) Fast forward 27 years and I’m back in the southeast, married and developed diabetes. Last year I developed a serious infection in my foot and they would need to amputate my left leg. I was so sick. I was septic and on deaths door and had no idea! Thank God it a was below the knee amputation and not above.
This was February 2022, and I’m now on my 3rd prosthetic which is pretty fast for the time frame. I’m doing better than I ever imagined. Your videos have inspired me to get back on the trail and start hiking again. I am forever grateful that I came across your channel. You seem like someone who I would hang out with. Hi Chris - bravo!
Taking us to the exact location was a master stroke and gave me a feeling of real connection to the drama. This episode was absolute tops of so many fabulous episodes! For me, primal fear is totally connected to the flight component of the fight-and-flight response. It begins in the brain and goes straight to the gut, the bladder can let us down and the strongest urge is to RUN. Good that the hunters all went with their instincts to leave and no-one opposed that decision. Did you feel spooked out there?!!
Keep hiking Chris, and keep safe - kiwi Linda 😊

I’ve retold a lot of these stories around our backyard campfire. Family and friends eat them up! So it has become a tradition. Their favorite is the “FROM ME” story of the Montana solo camper running after finding his tent in a tree. Townsends, Cowboy Kent Rollins and Basecamp Chris are by far my favorite channels and all have had a positive influence in my life. We need more wholesome content like these!
Also, we get Sierra Nevada beer where I am across the country. I must say it’s darn fine stuff.

First off I love your channel and never miss a story. This is totally unrelated to what you talk about but I know primal fear, my ex husband was very abusive in our almost 20 years together and I still suffer from what I went through. Loud noise’s that I’m not expecting and someone coming up to me from behind without my knowledge scares me to the point I could jump out of my own skin. I hate being this way and I think I have a form of ptsd from the abuse I experienced.

What a great story tonite! It is 2:30am on the East coast and now catching up with your Sunday vlog. What a story and the fact it had four hunters involved gives it more of the wow factor! I was so involved with your great story telling one of my dogs started snoring and I jump in my recliner. It doesn't take much to scare me. I have such a wild imagination and can be very impressionable with scary things! That Aztec whistle sounded horrible when you blew it as you were leaving. Nice, Chris. Enjoyed this one lots. I’ve experienced primal fear a few times when out hunting and camping. It’s a real deal. Like a force of some kind that creeps up on you then takes control. Almost like an entity or being possessed by something alien. Strange and overwhelming. Not to be denied. One evening I was hunting not far from my vehicle. As night fell something primal said leave now. I did.

I actually have a lot to say about this one. Chris, I've been watching your videos for almost a year now, and find the 'Campfire stories' vibe to be very fun and enjoyable. It's what drew me to your content, and keeps me there. I also would like to mention that I've noticed an increase in your production value. The camera goes out of focus less often, you're putting more effort into editing, and some of the shots (like the two lanterns on the table in this one) are VERY well framed and make for good viewing.
In an effort to encourage the things I enjoy about your channel, I'll mention that I'm glad this one returned to form a little bit. I missed your meals (and Salmon and Asparagus sounds REALLY good to be honest) in some of the more recent videos, and I always enjoy you mentioning and talking about your equipment. I'm not saying ditch the stories by any means, but to me you were at your best when it was the whole package. Break down of where you are, making a meal, your beer for the video, and then the story. For me what made that good was the 'we're camping together via the magic of UA-cam' vibe and that's ultimately what I'm here for.
This video was especially fun considering it's October, and going to the location of the story gave it a thrill. I did realize while preparing to write this that I'd forgotten until now to subscribe, so I've made the effort to subscribe and I'm looking forewords to your next video. Have a nice night, and Keep Hiking!

Love your work, Chris. Thanks so much for putting so much into your videos, and thank the listeners for awesome experiences they are willing to share.
From my experience with terror, it can definitely take a toll on your body besides the mental affects it has.
Not sure at my present age if I could handle what I did when I was in my 20s. No joke, I might have a heart attack. 😮No fight for me. Flight only.
It wouldn’t surprise me if there was permanent damage done to the body, cells, etc. depending on the person. I had experienced terror over and over for months and I’m sure it did something bad to my body. Certainly did to my head.
Surely they’ve done studies on war veterans. I have never looked into that.
I’ve heard some vets say as much.
